      @JiraiyaSama86 Před 5 lety +10

      Ivanatis many players would still want his season with the results. It may not have been as high, but similar to Nadal 2015 and 2016, many would still take the season they’ve had over their own.

    • @Ivanatis
      @Ivanatis Před 5 lety +2

      @@JiraiyaSama86 that is certainly correct, but itg does not change anything thatonly a delusional fanboy would call him the "best player" this season. even during his Basel win later on, he really played like crap

    • @JiraiyaSama86
      @JiraiyaSama86 Před 5 lety

      Ivanatis those kind of fans will always exist. It is harder for them to remain objective. If you keep that in mind, then perhaps it will not bother you as much. Trying to remain objective while accepting other different opinions is hard. But nonetheless a good season still, from a non-emotional standpoint.

    When the reaction times get slower, and the body heals slower, Federer teaches us all a lesson: keep your focus on what you're doing, instead of what your opponent is doing. He still, to this day, still keeps his eye longer on his own shot, instead of turning his eye to his opponent. Don't believe me? Cool! Check out any slow motion of Federer taking a shot. Any shot.

  • @miroslavjanecek9993
    @miroslavjanecek9993 Před 5 lety +80

    Not a bad season at all. His level was nowhere near his 2017 GOD MODE, but that was well expected. He's had some brilliant performances during the season though. Nishikori in Shanghai and Paris, Djokovic in Paris, he played quite well in Indian Wells too. Of course AO is the highlate of his year.
    But there were also terrible matches, like Djokovic in Cincinnati, or Millman, where Roger played really horribly.
    The biggest dissapoitments of the season, at least for me, were Indian Wells final and Wimbledon match against Anderson. He really should have close it out, both of them. Ever since Indian Wells, he looked as he has lost his confidence.
    At the end of the year, he started to play red hot tennis again. I hope it is a sign of a good 2019.
    COME ON ROGER!

    • @zaviali5
      @zaviali5 Před 5 lety +3

      Yeah its remarkable we still expect great things from a 37 year old. I say it to all haters, lets wait for 4 or 5 years and see how many players can manage to be as competitive as Federer is at his age, which is a big assumption provided Nadal and Djokovic play that long. Federer's been gifted with a great body and he has done tremendously well to preserve it.
      No dig at the above mentioned players, on their day they are unbeatable and their shared success is what has made us hooked to tennis so I wont go into goat details but just feel privileged to have watched these athletes battle it out over the years.

    4:36. WTF??? Outrageous!
    While I have the greatest respect for Rafa and Novak, and I'd not be surprised if both of them top Roger's Grand Slam total, neither comes close in my mind to the all round, extraordinary shot-making and sheer grace of Roger. While obviously a peculiar take on it, Roger vs the other two reminds me of his Martina Hingis to their Serena Williams or Steffi Graf. They're all GOAT players, yet he stands out as somehow 'different'.
    Were I to introduce someone to the game who'd never seen tennis through showing them an hour of footage it would be of Roger throughout his career.
    p.s. Interesting that many highly respected players and commentators have suggested Nick Kyrgios is the most naturally gifted player they've seen since Roger. Couldn't have a better illustration of how much the mental side of things are so crucial to performance, which also underlines the amazing achievements of the 3 GOATs.
