I want to see the first run gigantic hip pads come back for a "squidward ate all the Krabby Patties" costume.
Or just beautiful squidward in general
Or any Pixar mom
Lol it’s so true though
Yes
You shut your mouth! I mean, say that again. Yesss! I would so love that!
Jessica's silhouette is so interesting to me cuz it's shaped as an hourglass, but not through making the hips bigger, instead the waist is impossibly small. Her hips are pretty normal sized, even small to the rest of her body, it's just the tiny wasp waist and large bust that gives the look, it's a really interesting unique character design with this elongated look that's only possible in fiction. Rambling aside the costume looks great! Would be perfect for live action Jessica Rabbit
yea! and also typical for pinup girls wide shoulders!
The thing I find interesting about her design is that she still has the normal female abdomen instead of it being flat. It's just her waist is impossibly small.
@@EyseaSol really you see it in older fashion plates too! flat stomachs as a beauty standard is a very modern thing
Apparently the girl who played Judy from white Christmas had this incredibly small waist, I don’t even know the measure but it was almost cartoonish how it looked
@@_Peridot_ marilyn monroe had a thin waist compared to the rest of her body. Interestingly though is modern women's body shape has changed and no its not Weight gain persay its more the bone shape. It would be hard for girls today 😪 to fit into a typical dress like marilyn monroe wore.
The first run hip pads would be perfect for an ElastiGirl cosplay!
LMAO YEA
After that first version the second one looked way too tame to me, Jessica's shapes are ridiculously extra and I think she could've pulled them off. But there's no denying she hit it out of the park!
garnet thighs
2:54 is giving me the Pixar Mom look, I absolutely love it, you did amazing on this cosplay!
OMG YES LOL
Elasta girl!!yes!!! Exactly what I thought
@@Gamooch I thought the same lmao
Yes! She needs to keep those and cosplay as the mom on the Incredibles
True
Imagine her making a dimitrescu costume.
I just want any to say that for some reason CZcams put a translate to English thing on this, the only thing they changed was making imagine picture, I'm so confused by this
‘So step 1 is making the stilts…’
stooooooooop
@@ninemanhattan9973 I really want the final to have stilts. Absolutely yes. Hilarious.
“So I added these prosthetic legs to a pair of stilts to get the height”
Speaking as a drag artist, you killed it! Also, as an aside, when I do wear padding (rarely, to be fair) I 100% also do the slightly amazed, wierd slappy punchy thing...🤣
@Johnathan Johnson: what do you use for flesh shading over padding and where do you get it??
“Help me Obi-Wan Kenobe. You’re my only hope!”
I’ve seen the very lovely silicone female hips, but I’m fatally allergic to latex. I’m not willing to risk my life for a Halloween costume. 😳🤦🏻♀️ I am also looking for something more *cough, cough* cost effective
@@boops1192 for me, when I worked as a drag queen, I usually layer 2-3 semi transparent thights/stockings. The very first layer I usually wear the most opaque one thats closest to my skin and the last 2 layers I use nude/skin colour preferably a bit glossy to mimic skin thats highlighted by body oil.
Because of the layered stockings/thights, your pad also will look smoother. But just be aware that with this technique, you basically adding more layers, hence the legs and hips might look bigger. If you are someone that like a very understated look, maybe 2 layers are enough, but if you really want that over the top that cant be real look, get 3-4 layers (my drag mother always use 5 layers because she likes extravagant silhouette, I prefer 3 just because its too hot, I live in tropic country).
Nice
Mad
I am mad you look beautiful
Thank you for crediting the drag community, I think cosplayers and the drag community share a lot of techniques with each other, it's so fun!
I think the cosplay looks better than Jessica herself, because the waist isn’t impossibly thin. The cosplay looks a lot more natural but still gives off her vibes !
I absolutely love it !
( ps : really cool thing that you didn’t compare your body shape to Jessica’s in a negative way ! )
As someone who's flat as flat can be , and who loves cosplay. This gives me so many ideas for cosplays I thought impossible before this. Finally I can do Tinkerbell justice!
YOOOOO A TINKERBELL COSPLAY? okay Tinkerbell is FIIIINEEEE though I always loved her hips! she made me feel good about mine
One thing drag queens do to get as smooth a shape is possible with the hip pads is wear multiple pairs of tights, often including a final pair of fishnets as the last layer. I hope Tinkerbell went/goes well!
@@candycryptid2832 i bet your hips are perfect. Be proud of the queen that you are!
@@clairepettie thank you for the tip. Hips are something i got...... But what the hay, why not push the silhouette to her level
@@dissonanceparadiddle Definitely! I can actually offer a tip for your top half if it helps - a lot of drag queens/transvestites/nb dressers, etc... will look for strapless bras that can handle a lot of padding at plus-size stores like Torrid, their strapless ones have a good variety of sizes/cups and are sturdy. If you have a small rib cage, lingerie places that cater to extreme figures, like Frederick's of Hollywood, are also good places to find strapless bras that will support an extreme hourglass shape.

Wow this costume is truly amazing! Good job, I love it!
I love that video you quoted it's sooo funny lol
Her name was Jahkara Smith. She used to make videos on her channel Sailor J. It's sad she doesn't make videos anymore she was so funny.

I love how she does it on her kitchen floor like: no, not the room and background with my sewing stuff. The kitchen floor (this is not sarcastic the best things come to life on the kitchen floor.
That first try on of the hip pads, definitely serving me Elastigirl!
Diane
The whole body building thing definitely reminded me of how drag queens build their body! I think anytime you need to build like that, seeing tutorials from drag queens like Nina Bonina Brown would be useful
Tho she’s very talented I would strongly suggest not supporting Nina do to her transphobic and misogynistic views
Maybe not Nina baby..

Shay did just fine. No need to watch anyone.
I love drag race so yeah, it’s very much like how drag queens pad
Imagine how Jessica Rabbit would look like in live action. She'll have a natural hourglass body(no surgery) and Crescent Shay will make that dress for the actress.
You mean Christina Hendricks?
ur delusional. all women have organs
@@whatalsaid 😂😂
As a curvy woman with the hourglass shape, I feel very honored watching your video. When you showed your research into the pads, and the care you went to with the garmet, it's nice seeing how I can make clothes that will actually fit my body properly!!
And what's even more beautiful is how your content brings together a beautiful community. Thank you!

I love that you used techniques commonly used in the art of Drag! Many performers have to use padding and corsetry to achieve the silhouette they desire. Thank you for sharing the fantasy with us all!
Anybody else feel like her natural shape is perfect for her and fits her personality well?
This turned out amazing! You really did look like her💕
…also, the 1st attempt at the hips looked like a Pixar moms hips lol 😂
haha they did tho 🤣
Love the incredibles!!! Those hip pads could definitely be used for the mom lol

I've been involved in some big costume sewing projects and I'm blown away that you did this by yourself! Amazing!
If the men find out we can shapeshift they're going to tell the church * pterodactyl noises *
Great video Shay. Saw the previews ok Instagram so the behind the scenes and design process is absolutely hilarious.
I'm living for this comment 😂
I just commented the same quote like minutes ago and was scrolling reading the comment and just found yours. Love to see another person of culture lol :D
i’m so happy i understood the reference
I literally LOL'ed! Thank you. 😅😅😅💖
You want to look like a pterodactyl. men *love* pterodactyls
Can we just appreciate how beautiful she is with our the padding and corset and the fact that she isn’t comparing herself to a cartoon character love her positivity and cool attitude :)
With your body you could literally do any character who ever existed! This was incredible and the sky is the limit!
With those first hip pads, you could cosplay as dexter's mom from Dexter' Laboratory
This looked insane! The sequins looked so dazzling and the illusion was quite realistic.
Love this perfectly executed. I would love to see you make Glinda's dress from the wizard of Oz the original movie since you like a challenge the pink dress would be a big challenge.
Or a movie accurate 50's Cinderella, with the silvery white tone and all!
@@abbey2cold Oh oh this!!! Yes this! 😍
This was so impressive the way you recreated an obviously fake body shape so realistically! And I love the dress!!!
This costume is really amazing, it looks fantastic!
actually insane how much the you made the fake body look real literally so impressive and after watching all your videos i actually understand the like clingwrap pattern and how not confusing sewing actually is i think we’re probably around the same age or you’re a bit older but your fucking slaying fashion and everything you think up and recreat is amazing everytime like i lowkey wanna start making my own clothes now like i hope you know you’re probably inspiring so many people to start doing the same so hats off to you slay all day everyday
hi, shay! you are beautiful before and after the transformation, which was an absolute joy to watch!! i love your body sculpting approach--so much easier than a duct tape double--and i adore jessica rabbit. thank you for making her come to life! :)
Agreed! Press n' Seal is a new product that I haven't seen explored before, and it seems to have a lot of potential!
You look amazing in this costume!
Now that you've got your feet wet in drag techniques, have you considered doing a _drag-king_ costume, maybe a male character from a tv show?
yes 100%!! Doc Oc (Spider-Man) is actually one of my potential next projects!
but in general cosplaying boys isn’t new to me - I’ve made tons of male costumes for myself before! some of the recent ones have been: galo from Promare, deku & hawks from my hero acadamia - lots of anime stuff because I was introduced to cosplay through anime haha. honestly Jessica (a super sexy character) is way more out of my comfort zone than boys!
@@crescentshay omg I'd love to see you do a doc oc!!
@@crescentshay The Doc would be amazing! I really hope you do do it lol
@@crescentshay I THOUGHT U MEANT DOC OC AS A DRAG QUEEN (the spider verse does open the door of opportunities though)

This is basically the 'body cheat' of the late Victorian/Edwardian era. This is so cool!
Great job!
I REMEMBER SEEING THIS ALL HAPPEN ON INSTAGRAM, IM EXCITED FOR THE VIDEO!!!
I JUST LOVEEEE your style , how you dress up! The ThreadUp advertisement is GORGEOUS, I like it how it looks!
4:33 new meaning to the word "knockers"
I love this! everyone thinks you need to be missing ribs to look like jessica rabbit but it’s just about the silhouette really. this looks so cool and it’s refreshing to see someone else who still cares about her. disney needs to fix that toon spin wreck though.
You appeared in my youtube page randomly, i had never been interested in any cosplay videos before BUT i looked this video with my mouth open & i had no regrets that i spend my time during watching it!
You did such a huge & unbelievable work! You really looks like Jessica and this is amazing!

This is literally so good!
You are an amazing seamstress!
I was very impressed that you did the body cast solo.
Rodger Rabbit is one of my favorite toons, and you so pulled it off!
This is a marvellous cosplay. I love how it looks on you.
I've always respected cosplay because of all the work and effort put into the final product like animation. It's not just playing dress up its ART!
it is a bit of playing dress up though
I saw the short of this video, and that's how i stumbled on this chanel, and i still love it a year later.
Gorgeous!!! You're an amazing artist. I really enjoy watching each project unfold
I rarely see cosplayers pad out so effectively (or at all) and I'm so happy to see this done! This turned out really amazing!
maybe I've just been watching too many historical costuming videos, but I find it really fascinating how similar this is to how the victorians and edwardians achieved the ideal silhouette (padding, corsets, etc) and yet you have very different approaches
This is GORGEOUS!!!! THIS IS AN AMAZING COSPLAY!
You did an absolutely phenomenal job on this!!! It's insane how well you changed shapes!
I really appreciate your confidence as someone not having any, it's really inspiring.
when it comes to cosplay, you gotta do what u gotta do. Jessica has the most over exaggerated body ever, and you made it look so natural XD
This is my introduction to you, really talented and well done with this Jessica Rabbit costume!
PLEASE make Aurora’s iconic “make it blue make it pink” color changing dress!!!
It was really nice to watch you create an hourglass illusion and having fun with looking like Jessica Rabbit while you didn't talk negatively about your own body type or make apologetic faces. So wholesome ❤️ Great costume, and you look beautiful with or without the padding 😁
thats insane how diffrent it looks, and one of the best Rabbits custumes i seen
ooooooooooh!! you're penny dress girl!! i didn't get a chance to watch that but it looked fantastic! THIS dress craaaaaaaaay. i'm so impressed right now. not just the final product but all the steps that went into it.
A dress with peacock feathers (One of my only wedding ideas...) just peacock colors or feathers are great, theeeennnnn you get into the different kind of peacocks, you could go from a somewhat traditional white representing an albino peacock to the one you see normally or go into the lighter blue/teal one. They are really pretty.
This is the first time I have sat through an entire sponsorship and had genuinely wanted to use the thing.
Love your choice of music. Nifty step by step. Great "Jessica" result. Nice thrift styling.
Yeah to your sence of fun.
I love your energy, girl!!!!
You did such an amazing job creating the silhouette! Maybe you already know, but padding was how an hourglass figure was achieved in many historical styles as well . Corsets were padded wherever to create the shape the wearer (or designer) wanted to achieve. It used to be an integral part of creating the right silhouette, tightlacing was extremely rare and unhealthy (And people were aware of this at a pretty early point in corsetry) not to mention uncomfortable. Padding was and is an easy solution to emphasize part of the figure and though it's used less now in mainstream fashion it still has a big role in shaping jackets, and indeed, undergarments.
You inspired me to make my very first dress and built my dreams of making a clothing line when I’m older. A little earlier I went on a shopping spree to get supplies to make my first dress at only ten years old and I’m gonna keep it and look at my progress in the future! Thank you so much for teaching me your ways and making it enjoyable since I have a low attention span! Ly!
