Fun fact: In the 18th century and earlier purple was actually a color for higher class people and even royalty! This was because purple was quite a rare color, which meant it was more expensive. They also wore that shade of purple and not just dark. So i love that you chose one of the higher class colors at the time to show the wealth people had at these balls.
Edit: OMG TYSM FOR 1.4K LIKES Y’ALL ARE SO KIND😭😭
Poorer people could achieve purple from dying something first blue then red or vice versa, but it wasn't as good a colour at the and and didn't last as long as the purple dye the rich were using, so the purple dye was there to stay.
Thank you for this funny fact I learned something cool today…
It true because you can only get the color for a tiny snail and it's hard to find and that's why there's no purple flag 😌
And she absolutely ROCKS the color purple!
And blue :)
"You're supposed to have fun not suffer! it's okay to make short cuts!" I'm so happy to hear those words, I always feel bad when I buy something for a cosplay, always thinking 'I bet someone made this by hand'
You cos
Right? I try to make my own petticoats and every time I have a mini heart attack when I get overwhelmed in ruffles of organza. XD
I stan Shay and How iconic she, with her amazing Procrastination, Very Mood also dress looks iconic
Yes
NOO MOM I TOLD U THE DOG ATE MY FOOOOD😡
@@bully.maguireehuh?
The wig was truly the cherry on top of this beauty
it is!!!!! and i forgot to put a clip of it in the video, but the front if the wig is a little trapdoor that opens and you can store things 😂
@@crescentshay that is so fun! wearing a gorgeous dress with a wig completed with storage capacity is just ✨slay✨
Woah! This looks like so much fun! Everybody’s fantasy ball dreams have come to life in this video 😌
it really was!!! I've been to a costume ball before but this one was on a whole nother LEVEL
Yup! It’s spectacular how they are able to pull off such an impressive event!
@@crescentshay I cant still belive that there are like these balls everywhere
"just vibing with shapes" hahaha!
OMG GUNNAR ILY!!!!
This looks like so much fun! I have seen a few other CZcamsrs post about this ball. It’s so interesting to see each of the different takes on the gowns that were created.
I actually met sewstine at the ball!!! and her dresses are absolutely STUNNING in person omg
It would be really cool to have a ball with both 18th century costume and classic/sweet lolita so we can compare and contrast the lolita interpretation with the real deal, what was kept, what has changed. This would be especially good if you compared two dresses inspired by the same source material as a couple of Angelic Pretty dresses are pseudo-reproductions of specific dresses like the Madame Pompadour dress.
I would love to go to a ball like that - I’d love to dress up so fancy!
Agreed 😍😍
I absolutely love this Vintage 18th Century Balls idea!! And simply by looking at these dresses, you can TELL ITS BOUND TO BE HARD! So Super proud of u Shay!
I was there! I’m actually partially in your video at the 14:24 minute mark. I was in the light blue suit with the midnight blue taffeta cape and the black bicorn hat. You looked lovely! Remember seeing you in person and your gown was beautiful!
That's awesome!
Bernadette banner is an amazing historical seamstress and does A LOT of historical recreations and inspired pieces
As a french, I love the way you are pronouncing french words !
Looks so romantic in your mouth !
Btw, love the dress ! So french
Lord, that is gorgeous. I imagine if you had taken the entire 2 months to make it it would have been insanely over the top Slap Marie Antoinette in the eyeball gorgeous!
Lady Rebecca Fashions, Abby Cox, Nicole Rudolph, Cathy Hay, Prior Attire, and Stringchronicity are some my other faves.
Check out Angela Clayton's Robe a la Francaise, too.
"And they do not the hot glue in the 18th century" not for Micarah Tewers😂
This looks so good omg!!! You always manage to make my jaw drop with your skills and designs lmao
(sidenote, the pronounciation of the french words is killing me 😭💀)
thank you!! and haha you can clearly tell i took spanish, not french, in high school 😂😂😅
Yeah ! 😂
But I found it so cute at the same time !
Omg- I love fashion like this and you PULLED IT Shay! I love the dress so much, you look like an 18th century BEAUTIFUL Sofia The First- Just- wow- I am- Speechless at how much I loved this-
WOAHHH, I've always wanted to go to a ball like this where you dress up fancy and eat those foods etc 😮. That's like a dream come true 😭 also, wow I can't imagine the amount of hard work you put into making the dress, the research, thinking of how u want the dress to look like, the fabrics, the sewing, how u put everything together just blows my mind
Oh my goodness Shay! That dress is so GORGEOUS! You are definitely an inspiration! I'm 15 years old and I would LOVE to get into dress making! You have given me so much of my motivation! Have and amazing day! ❤
Girl you need to make these videos longer!!! I could seriously watch you for an hour doing anything, please give us long form content!!
Omg agreed!
aa this video originally started as like a 30+ min video, and then was cut down to make it easier to follow!! but maybe i'll try doing longer videos for future ones!!
I love watching fashion shows, seeing new outfits, unusual styles, but you're the one who does things that really catch my eye, that's not fancy or extravagant or ridiculous, you've got tremendous intelligence and you know how to use it, ♥️
Congratulations on getting your dress together! You look fantastic! The video was so cheery and fun to watch.
I'm especially glad that you had a great time!🎉🌞
So glad to see you enjoy my country and so impressed to see you sewing that dress, very close to traditional dresses from 18th century !
Thank you so much for taking us on this journey. This dress came out fantastically, really love it.
This is so cool! For a future project, maybe you could do a cool Regency ball gown? You could time it to be published around the premiere of the third season of Bridgerton in May! 😍
The dress is fabulous! You are so talented!
I’m so glad your video popped up in my feed! How awesome was this entire adventure! Thanks for sharing your creativity and artistry!
Hey shay , it is illegal to record or take pictures of the Eiffel tower at night because the lights were added on in the eighties but you can take recordings and pictures on your phone . Just keeping you out of fines
Ahhh!!! It was so amazing meeting you and you LOOKED INCREDIBLE! I hope we get to hang out again soon!
Omg Im so jealous! The dress looks great, I love your designs!
Your shorts made me wish I could see you make the dress the actress Keira Knightley used in "Atonement". The iconic green dress. 💚✨
Not me just realizing that one of her friends dresses is literally Eliza’s dress from Hamilton ( the teal one )😂 I mean nothing wrong with it, I personally love the dress and thought it totally fit in.
I live in Sweden and I love beautiful gowns.
My dream is to open a museum with beautiful gowns but my father
says that Sweden is too small for that kind of project.
This is just brilliant and really inspires me to continue sewing! I’ve also always wanted to go to France! Pure talent is all I can say!
Your creativity is so amazing! You have already made my day even better than how it already is! Your designs are always so pretty as well! ✨
You were the reason why I got back into wanting to make custom clothes lol! ✨
So thank you! ✨☺️
Kinda random, but I just LOVE your profile picture, its just so cute
@@FairyPhrog-rz6mp Aww thank you lol!
I was going to change it a while ago but I decided to keep it lol!
You are very nice too! ✨
Glad to have the privilege to talk to you through CZcams lol!
Have an amazing rest of your day or night! ✨
I love your work and all the outfits/dresses you have made. This dress is amazing and congratulations for all the efforts you have made to do it. As a French, I can say that I was so happy when I saw that you came to France, (to Versailles by the way) and I am so happy to see that this ball pleased you.
And there she is... Just casually living my dream life 😮 your dress looked awesome! I'm a sewing beginner but after watching many of the youtubers you mentioned, in my eyes you did amazing!! And to do that in a week? I'm weak! 😭 Love how it turned out ❤
Well now I want to go to this ball!! You did such a good job on the dress!! I hope you had great time 💜
In love with your energy and vibe! Didn’t know much bout these types of dresses but gosh there’s so much to them! Your excitement is so sweet and contagious! “Very French and oui oui” 😂😂 you look incredible! The dress is stunning! Looked like so much fun! We love!
This trip has been 3 years in the making! *Leaves dress making until 72 hours before flight* .... Sounds like something I would do XD
I am so impressed yall got it done this fast, always helps to have friends who can also sew
You did a fantastic job! Looks beautiful on you! Love your encouraging words 💕🇨🇦
You
Poked absolutely beautiful! Great job!
I love your work. It’s truly amazing. Also, the dress came out great!
with what's done literally last minute, it looks amazing. I mean i can see it looks like its falling apart at the skirt hems near the end but its amazing!
That's so amazing! You're really talented!
Thank you for your all efforts ❤
This is the earliest I’ve ever been to a shay vid especially as a Aussie! I love it. 🩷🩵
OMMGGGGGG SHAY THAT DRESSSSS LOOKKKSSS GORGEOUS AND THE BALL LOOKED SO FUN, I HOPE YOU GO TO MORE AMAZING PARTIES LIKE THIS CAUSE YOU DESERVE IT!
Crescent shay is such a big inspiration to me
Because I enjoy sewing and it’s a big help to see her imagination come to life using fabric
You all looked stunning so beautiful and elegant ❤ I would love something like this for my wedding
Wow! The ball is my dream! I would love to dress up with 18th century clothes!
This came out beautifully! ❄️🩰👗
YOUR A A GREAT DESIGNER AND YOU COMPLETE AWESOME WORK!!! I'M EXCITED FOR YOU - TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES AND HAVE A GREAT SAFE TIME!!! 👍
It’s literally looks like beauty and the beast!
So cute 😂 she says "panniers" instead of "pannay" (the French Canadian in me giggled). Stunning dress as always, you look gorgeous in it! You're so talented. ❤
I love your videos and designs! You are so inspiring 😊
THIS IS EVERYTHING!! OMG I just found your channel, and let me just say your work is SO impressive, amazing.
We just watched history through a looking glass of today. It was really a glimpse of how people lived life back then. It’s really quite amazing to watch.
I dont know how you do this girl i could never. THIS IS TALENT.
I just LOVE your videos! They are so inspiring and i always love your energy!
You did amazing in such little time! The ball looks like so much fun! 🤩
I also sew & live in L.A county. How lucky are _we_ to have a fashion district! 🤩😍
SHAY YOU ARE AN ICON. and you look scarily similar to one of my teachers from a few years back but still AN ABSOLUTE ICON
I now have a sewing machine and have taken inspiration from shay and she has helped me make so many things!❤❤
I was at the Palace of Versailles less than a week ago! its such a gorgeous place!
i love your happiness doing the video 🥰
Shay you’re literally living my dream 😭
Also that dress looks AMAZING!
Your look was amazing and it looked so fun.
That was quite genuinely awesome.
Wow! That looks amazing and so fun!
OMG how did I not know this event exists??!! Definitely going on my bucket list!!!
I LOVE HER DEDICATION.
This is so amazing! I wish shay posted daily, but it’s obviously not possible to make a dress EVERYDAY- love you anyway shay!
Your dress looks amazing.💜 Hope you had a good time. The ball scenes you showed in ur video looked like the opening to the 2017 beauty and the beast. But FR the Palace was beautiful.😘
Amazing job. Looks like a ton of fun! You have a lot of talent!
_what an amazing experience! you are absolutely glowing! im so happy you had such a fantastic time!_
Very impressive, your gown was beautifully done!!
I AM SCREAMING!!!! How i wish i could go there too😭😭 It's literally everything i dream of, making a historical dress by myself, wear it in a ball😭I am a HUGE fan of historical fantasy manhwa's and the dresses they draw are beautiful, it hooked me up instantly. I love it
You did look great in your outfits for Paris including the dress you made. I do wonder if you would try historical outfits again. Glad you was able to enjoy the trip with your two best friends. It is even better one was willing to help you out at last minute and maybe was even expecting to pitch in considering how well your friends know you. It would be scary to think what you could make if you spent three weeks on a simple project.
You have a really big talent Shay. A kiss from Italy
Your so talented!
as much as i love the mad rush i would love to see what you could come up with some of these dresses with a good amount of time to perfect it. but as a procrastinator i def understand lol looks awesome!
Something else to put on my life bucket list:
Go to one of these parties
Fetes Galantes (pronounced fet galAHnt) is a dream!! 18th century costume is not easy for sure but you knocked it out of the park ❤
Versailles is amazing and your dress is so royal with the color choice ❤
Shay you should,d made some dresses and sell them it would be so good and then you will be famous.
Your dresses are really so good I loved them so much ❤
That's so cool, hope you enjoy your time down here (though mind the temperature - rn it's at least 30°C in most of the country, 40°C at most).
With that said, awesome work as always
I love how the procrastination is just a necessity, bc I'm procrastinating making my homecoming dress by watching this! Yayyy!
My best friend is so amazed by this and she says ur so lucky to go to the ball!
awesome job!! That looks so fun!
I hope you had a couple of days before going to the ball to get over jet lag, I went to the French riviera a year ago and I felt like crap for the first few days 💀💀
I'm glad you had fun though, it looks like an amazing experience!
That dress you've worn on that ball at Versailles looks amazingly beautiful 😍😍😍
Watching your videos are so entertaining especially right now I'm trying to work on my cosplay for an event
i like how u don't give up on your projects and i love how creative and inspiring you are! i dare you to make a fire dress!! i wanna see how beautiful or cool you make it😍🔥

I love your fashion designs, and they are amazing
Congrats! You’re first
All of these dresses that you make all deserve to be in fashion museums. They’re amazing! 🤩
This is very random, but your videos help inspire me a lot. I procrastinated a lot of my summer work and I have to finish it really quickly, but the amount of stuff you were able to do in just a week gives me a bit f hope 5 that I can pull this off. Ur amazing ❤️
BEAUTIFUL!!!
