  • Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) is the 6th line of Singapore Mass Rapid Transit system.
Opened by stages since 2020, TEL connects Woodlands in the north to Sungei Bedok in the east via Marina Bay in the City.
What are the reasons that TEL was built, which area will the line serve, and why TEL is unique among all MRT lines?

Once the TEL extends to Tanah Merah via Changi Airport Terminal 5, the line would be the longest driverless rail line (overtaking DTL) in Singapore

Is it possible to build high speed MRT using the maglev system such as the one currently in use in Shanghai, and connect the whole island so that one can get from East Coast to West Coast in 5 minutes? This would reduce commute time drastically.

Its a very sad pity that this train line skips the humongous population estate of yishun and sembawang combined...
Talk about inclusiveness in public transport and whether does it seek to serve all areas ...
