- With Sir Handel away Duncan is made to take the morning passenger run which makes him ignorant until he runs into a prickly problem
The second of the missing episodes adaptions from the Great Little Engines book. I am away for two weeks and so this one was a tad rushed but hopefully you won't notice haha!

I feel like sir handels trip to the talylln railway would’ve explained why he was absent from series 5-9
He's gonna come back during s4 though I have written a story giving a different explanation though
tbh tho it’s far-fetched I like the Shadow Realm Banishment being the reason why -Steam Roller- -Falcon- Sir Handel was absent between S5 and S9 (all of the SKR engines were absent in S8)

This was an interesting adaptation. Duncan does fit the role a bit better than Peter Sam. His grumpy attitude does get him into trouble with the branches. So it does serve him right when he gets stuck.

I imagine when christopher awdry came to interview duncan he lied about the story and said it was peter sam who did it.

I remember asking whether @ShunterProductions would have an adaptation of Duncan replacing Peter Sam in "Prickly Problem" some time ago. You seem to have expanded on the idea. Well done. 👍

I think the episode could still work with Peter Sam but using Duncan for this is fun too.
I do remember youtuber srmcd1 did an audio story on it by having George the steamroller provoke Peter Sam into being careless and George ends up falling into the same trap anyways. He also did pop special with Duncan still but have it set up where Peter Sam believes Duncan has a massive soft side he'll never show others.

No indeed he doesn’t I figure it out. Duncan worked in the factory on the other railway in Scotland. He hates it in there. The Workmen were idle and dishonest, tools often went missing, the tracks weren’t even repaired and then there was a engine named Cain. He was their favorite engine. And yet if he made a mistake, Duncan got to blame and if he tries to do things better it’s always Cain got to please. Duncan was so happy that Mr. Percival brought him to Sodor but it won’t change Duncan experience of that old factory. That’s why he won’t stop complaining.

I like the original ofc but this is better tbh, If Crisopher actually swipe roles for Duncan in prickly problems and Pop Special with Peter Sam, it would fit so better.

my problem with this is why the hell would some of the passengers have knives? docent anyone find that a wee bit suspicious?
Yeah I mean apart from the time being very different in the uk I don’t fully get it but it’s kinda needed for 5e story maybe I shoulda rewritten in a bit heavier

Not sure that’s something Christopher wrote in and considering it’s kinda important to the plot I left it in

I know the problem with branches hanging in the way of vehicles way too well. The noise produced by the vehicle hitting them is unbearable, and it only gets worse the faster the vehicle drives.
