    Hi Nick, Thanks for a cool video. Adjusting volume and tone is useful, especially for hearing aid users and people with impaired hearing, i.e. weak in some frequencies only. I recommend owners use the packages the cars come with frequently till they are comfortable to use them and start trusting them otherwise no point in having them. Look forward to the next one.👍🇬🇧🇲🇹🇮🇪

      If they recommend something (eg. brake fluid change or aircon recharge ect…) and you decline do you then lose the breakdown cover ? Do you have to stick to the service guidelines strictly renew breakdown yearly ?

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Micheal, Yes you’ll have to stick to them. I wouldn’t neglect changing your brake fluid though, it’s throughly recommended to be changed every two years anyway 😎
      Mercedes service schedules alternative between A and B (minor and major) but during that course, they’ll be additional things that should be changed, like brake fluid, fuel filters, gearbox oil. Those additionals don’t need doing every year though so they are every 2, 4 & 6 years depending on the item.
      Hope that helps!

    Thanks Nick!... I didn't know about active hood/bonnet. But the idol key FOB security explains a LOT! Just three or four days ago I was sitting in my car for 20 minutes on the phone before I started my trip. But when I tried to start the car it kept saying "Key not detected" I panicked for a few minutes in the car before I got out to see if I dropped the FOB. When I got back in it started right up. I was pretty confused, I bet the key FOB security is why! It was in my pocket the whole time. Thank you for the info. Your videos never fail to teach me at least one thing I didn't know. I switched active lane assist off. Active lane assist almost goty me rear ended by a semi truck. I was half indicating left ( I half indicated because there was a good 200 meters before my left turn onto my street) to get onto the bus lane (in Gold Coast, Australia) to turn left onto my street. The bus lane has a solid white line, I half indicated and by the time I got close to the white line, the indicator switched off and the active lane assist kicked in and slowed the car down to move my car right. The semi truck locked up, and i slammed on the accelerator. Luckily no crash.

      On iPhones it only works if you plug it in
      I’d imagine this is because the command you give would have to feed through hundreds if not thousands of song names and would only be able to keep up going over USB as data transfer speeds are limited over Bluetooth
      Defo not an issue, that’s just a Bluetooth limitation on all phones. When it’s plugged in, just make sure you’ve selected USB and not Bluetooth.

      You could press home on the steering wheel, then select Media then do it from there.

For example, with one pedal driving it is not necessary to touch the brake pedal at all, but the person dring behind must get some warning that you are slowing down and stopping. Could you set up a camera to show the brake light when you drive around in various scenarios? TIA Brian in Australia

      I tested this a while ago but not on camera 🤓
      Brake recuperation varies from car to car as you know from EQA to EQE, they use different names if I remember.
      So EQA brake lights
      D+ = No
      D = No
      D - = Yes
      D - - = Yes
      For EQE, it’s been a while since I drove that one but pretty sure it had
      No Recuperation = No
      Normal = No
      Strong = Yes
      Hope that helps! I’m sure that’s what it was!

    I've liked having the hold feature on my current (and previous three) Mercedes (oldest of them being a 2009 car). I wish they'd adopt what Audi (and I think BMW also) are now doing - "automatic hold". They don't need that extra sharp/firm brake pedal press. If you brake all the way to a complete stop, hold is automatically applied. Mercedes led the way with hold, but have now been overtaken.

    Hi Nick, great videos you make! I just found your channel and subscribed immediately since I just ordered my new CLA 200 Progressive and it's going to be my first MB (to be delivered in September)!, so your videos are very helpful for a rookie like me. Although, I have 3 questions:
    1. The dealer told me that, right now, the CLA doesn't have Sat Nav, and the only way to have navigation is with Apple/Android Auto, but looking at your videos (some very recent) I can see Sat Nav is still a thing, so I am very dubitative as to if he gave me the right info (I'm in Mexico)
    2. Looking at some comments here, I can see some people have problems with the Active Lane Assistant, and I'm nervous about it. I can see in the video that it just "pulls" you back to your lane, without using any kind of aggressive breaking or such, but, looking at these comments, they tell otherwise (some of them saying it could have caused an accident), so, I'm confused about it.
    3. About the MBUX themes, I liked your workaround for the ambient lighting changing alongside the driving mode, but my question is, can the themes be changed trough voice command as you can do with the profiles? BTW... talking about themes, do you have a video with a step-by-step guide on how to create a theme from scratch?

      Thanks RC,
      Glad you love the videos! I’ll keep them coming every Friday at 4pm!
      Oooo very nice, would love a CLA myself!
      I’ll try and answer your questions, but sadly speciation on cars varies massively round the world, for example with your first point where you mention about the Sat Nav. In the UK Mercedes-Benz vehicles have Sat Nav as standard from factory so I had no idea there was an option to not even include it until posting videos on my channel where I heard from other countries in the world where it might not be included. Really sorry I haven’t seen one without it as they all have it here.
      With Active Lane Keeping Assist, it’s basically an assistance system that helps keep you in lane and if you drift out of very clear lane markings without indicating for example on a dual carriageway or motorway, it can utilise one sided braking to jolt you back into lane. However this is a jolt not a smooth motion and would only activate if you drift over a lane marking. If you intentionally drive over the white line and not drift then it of course won’t do anything.
      Yes MBUX Themes are quite cool! Sadly you can’t activate them via voice as Themes can control some driver functions which of course are not allowed on voice assistant systems for safety. Making a Theme is easy, you just set all of the settings the way you want them, then go to the Theme section and create a new one. It’ll save the settings as they are.
      Hope that helps!

The only thing I'm still thinking is the color, I'm between "Mountain gray" or "Denim Blue", which one is your fav between those 2 for a CLA?
      Ok, so, about the MBUX themes and the Sat Nav, understood and noted, thank you very much. Just a question: I saw that, when creating a theme, what's added is, for example, driving mode, lighting color and dashboard info, but does it also add, lets say, the A/C info (on/off, temp), panoramic roof position (or at least the blind), your favorite music, seats position and outside mirrors position (not just per profile, which I was told is possible all 3, but per theme), or anything else I'm missing?
      About the Active Lane Assist, so... let's say for example that I'm on a 3 lane highway, very clear lane markings, but I'm completely alone, so I don't need to indicate a lane change. The moment I start changing without indicating, does the system is going to pull me back to my lane?, or it just activates when it detects imminent collision or cars around me? Finally, does it give you a previous visual/auditive warning or is there any way to see the lane info on the dashboard?
      Thanks in advance Nick!

      Ah awesome!
      No I think that’s just about everything on Themes it can’t save everything but it does save quite a lot!
      With Active Lane Keeping Assist, I would recommend that if you’re going to travel over a lane, that you indicate to let the car know. Potentially if that manoeuvre was performed too slowly, it might think you’re drifting so it’ll activate and bring you back into lane.
      If any safety systems kicks in, it’ll always notify somewhere, for Active Lane Keeping Assist it comes up on the dashboard.

      You could say “Hey Mercedes, next track”.
      Or you could use the touchpad on the middle which actually has a next track shortcut button on the top 🤓

    Nick, I bought a new E Class in October 2021, a showroom model instead of waiting some 12 months for a new build.
    I took delivery of the vehicle and attempted to log into Mercedes me, however I could not as it did not recognise my car. The MB showroom looked into this for me and said the Hermes box was missing with the chip in and would have to await for a call up to have it fitted. It has now been 9 months and I still have not had the call up for the upgrade so unable to connect to Mercedes me for the full advantage of the car.
    Do you have any idea as to when Mercedes will be upgrading these car purchased as a showroom modle.
    Thanks for your advice.

      Hey Michael, ooo very nice! No sadly the worldwide semiconductor shortage is still ongoing.
      I believe your local Mercedes will contact you when it’s available again.

      Hey Suna,
      Due to the Semiconductor shortage Mercedes had revised their specification at the start of the year to continue building cars. It’s not available of the vast majority of models now.
      Fingers crossed that new models acquire it again in the future when things normalise.

    Great video. I have a question: i don't quite understand the climate controls. I'm seeing different labels with different car manufacturers. What actually do these do: "front MAX", "AC MAX"? Perhaps make a video on the topic? 🤷🏻‍♂️ thanks, again, for the great content. :) have a great day, -big fan

      Hey Larry, thank you! It actually depends yes on the manufacturer and the country!
      For example in the UK, the max buttons (there are two of them) are for demisting either the front or the rear as quickly as possible.
      However another example in Florida in the USA, some cars have a MAX COOL button (because their country is significantly hotter)
      Depends on loads of things, but here in the UK it’s for demisting / deicing as quickly as possible.

      Hey Stephen, thought it was on every modern Mercedes-Benz to be honest, I’ve never come across one without it.
      If you get in contact with your local Mercedes-Benz I’m sure they’ll be able to advise if you have it or not

      Hi Nick
      Thanks for the reply, slight miss communication. The hold function is there and works when Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is deactivated.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Před 2 lety

      Oh yes this hold function only works on the brake pedal. Of course pressing the brake would switch it off anyway.
