Acidity, the type of starch you use and even super strong alcohol will make everything crispy. For example, there are michelin star Korean fried chicken places in Korea who use a mix of starches and spices like garlic powder, tapioca starch, sweet potato starch and rice flour. For alcohol, find the strongest alcohol like vodka or even pure ethanol. Acidity can be anything for good quality vinegar or buttermilk or pickle juice. Furthermore, the way the chicken is fried and how much fat content it has will greatly affect the final result!

The best I've found is a wet batter with a texture of pancake batter, then shaken into a flour mix. Use half half flour and corn starch for wet and dry mix. Shake it well before you deep-fry to get the long crispy flakes
Yeah wet batter first with alcohol or club soda works out great! Also putting some of the wet batter into the dry mix for crispy bits

I've always just used pickle brine without buttermilk. If I don't have pickle brine, then I'll just use a wet brine. Buttermilk never did it for me.

For the initial guess on the winners of each category:
1-Butter milk+pickle juice,( personally prefer wet marinate, not brine).
2-Avocado oil
3-potato starch, then normal flour.But never ever corn starch.

Edit: I wish I was more conservative when I was writing a bout the drudge😂😂😂.But TBH, the corn starch makes it really thick, I mean the coating is crunchy but super thick.
