    My Helicoid Adapter is Leica M to Sony E mount, and I have several adapters to Leica M, Nikon F, M42. Really it is great meanly with that old rangefinder lenses that minimum focus distance is 0.7 meters and some only to 1.0 meter. A wideangle 35 mm with the helicoid adapter is a great macro lens.

    • @VintageOptiks

      Glad to hear that you’ve already experienced how handy these adapters can be! Some lenses can have pretty bad minimum focusing distance and that’s when these adapters can be very useful! I also completely agree that it’s a lot of fun to push wide angle lenses into macro territory! I love it!!

    I may have been the first view to this one! 🙂
    I have just one helicoid, it's M42 to M42. With a thin mount adaptor I can put it on either Sony or Fuji bodies, and the M42 mount on the other end is super flexible. M42 lenses of course, but also good for M39 rangefinder lenses with a thin ring. The adaptor becomes thin enough itself to work well for rangefinder lenses.
    If you haven't yet, check out the tilt adaptors, you can add tilt to any lens, a lot of fun with wider aperture ones.
    I'll take a look at these adaptors you link, although I wish they had k mount ones.

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 lety +1

      Nice to hear that you’ve tried the M42 to M42 helicoid adapters. I have a few of those, and they are great, but I was really excited that they make these dedicated ones too! It’s really nice to be able to pick from so many lens mounts and instantly focus closer with your favorite lenses! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a Pentax K to NEX adapter. And the one I really wish they’ll make is Konica AR to NEX! Hopefully soon. 🤞

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 2 lety

      Hi. If you can find a helicoid adapter that fits your description then definitely get one. I prefer helicoid adapters because they are much more versatile than regular adapters, especially when it comes to close up shots. I've only used helicoid adapters for Sony E mount, so I can't say which ones are good for M39 mount camera.

  • @User_not_found_403
    @User_not_found_403 Před 3 lety

    I have a Fotasy EF to NEX Helicoid and then I just use cheap adapter rings to get me from M42/OM to EF. Seems more universal. Only issue I have is with my Fotasy Helicoid, the action is not butter smooth. I have have also tried the Fotodiox DLX Stretch adapters which conceptually was cool because they include an ND. However, the build quality was horrific. Sticky helicoid and tons of wiggle. I have poor experience with Fotodiox in general (always too much wiggle in their products). Trying a Roxen helicoid from Ebay and if that doesn't work out, may shell out for a Kipon EF to NEX but its much more expensive.

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, the Fotasy adapters are not the best quality out there, but I haven’t had any issues with them. Definitely not butter smooth as a Takumar lens but they do the job 😄 The Kipon helicoid adapters are 5 times more expensive and for me it’s not really worth it. I’m just glad that these cheaper ones exist, so more people can try them out and enjoy new possibilities with their lenses.

    • @User_not_found_403
      @User_not_found_403 Před 3 lety +1

      @@VintageOptiks Agreed - if these adapters are too pricey, it defeats the cost benefit of going vintage. The Takumar helicoids ARE butter smooth and have the perfect level of tension/resistance when you turn them.

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 lety

      They are mostly made of metal with some hard plastic for the rotating ring. Don't expect amazing build quality, but for under $30 they are pretty nice. If you want better build quality Kipon makes the same adapters all from metal, but they are between $130 and $200!!
