    I have setup the venturi and Netafim PCJ dripper. At the beginning before the water drip out from the pcj, I can see the venturi is working but the moment water start drip out from the pcj, the venturi stop, no fertilizer suck into the irrigation. Even I start open the end of the irrigation system to let the water flow all the way out, the venturi doesn't suck the fertilizer anymore

      you need to make sure the pressure gauges are reading the proper suction by adjusting the valves. clean out your filter, and injector. then try again.

    I watched "David the Good", he does the fermentation like you do, no air pump. Anaerobic.

      Hi, you have to watch what you put through the injector cause it will clog. but when I fertilize by hand I do mix in mold from my wood chip piles.

    What about a non-return valve to stop fertilizer leaching back into the water supply?

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Před 11 měsíci +1

      you should use a check valve on all well pumps. I have two check valves on my supply pipes which is before the well pump. that is standard practice when installing well pumps. in the video I'm only showing the Venturi fertilizer injector operation. Thanks for your input.

    Where did you purchase your Venturi component? Do you have a pressure reducing device in your drip system?

  • @blainecelestaine4543
    @blainecelestaine4543 Před 7 měsíci +1

    I couldn't get mine to work . I'm running 3 zones with .25gph drip tape . My pump does 6gpm but I'm 300' away from it on a 3/4 pex line. There are 360 row feet average in each zone. Wide open on sprinkler the psi difference is enough to make the venturi work but. Thru the tape even with the footage exceeding the flow of the pump it wouldn't suck . So I went to the piston injector ,which works no matter the flow or pressure.

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Před 7 měsíci

      you need to double check the size of you fertilizer injector. smaller is batter, to large and it will not work.

      It sounds like you might not have enough pressure to reach 300 ft. Thank you for sharing that a piston injector worked out great for you. Hopefully we don’t run into this issue with our garden expansion.

    I'm in Ocala. Started food forrest at beginning of the vid. Started off Ruth Stout style using hay. People said not safe because of broad leaf herbicide. Changed to Back to Eden (wood chips), 90% of front & back yard. Massive truck loads. Doing my own compost pile, Johnson & Sue style kinda. Just used cow panel, no tubes. Urine, green for nitrogen, brown for carbon. On ghe wood chips, obtained from arborist. Do you age them in a pile first or spread them 8" thick on no till grass? I just spread them out. I think I need to improve soil biology so I'm going foliar route. Got a Ventura coming . Been watching Elaine Ingraham Soil food web. Seems some debate of using air pump to oxegenate the tea which maybe promotes the benneficial organism. Also they use worm asting to add biology and some feed brew sugar. I get a lot of overlapping confusion, because of similarities between methods. Korean Natural Farming, using Indigenous Micro Organisms IMO (1,2,3,4,5). So many acronyms they expect us to know. Then what really screwed me up was the cover crop vs wood chip. Ok, so I understand roots help soil breathe and give microrhiza fungi something to eat(exodates) symbiotic. But what is a weed and should I pluck it out roots and all. I got Comfrey seeds, but if I can buy some Mexican sunflower I think good. I hope you write back.

      Got bug problems, stink bugs attacked my peach trees. Now tons of these look like Box Elders but not much red spots on them. Attacking my figs, grapes(Muscadine), tomatoes. Tomatoes sucked this year. My understanding is bugs are not supposed to be attracted to healthy plants. I dont see hardly any earthworms, but got fire ants bad. Had grubs but treated with beneficial nematodes. Worked well. They where killing some of my citrus. Best tree producer, mulberry. Does real well. Easy to propagate. Peaches did well, but had to pick early & freeze. Too much Stink bug attack. I been trying to stay total organic, use neem oil. Been considering the BHT? Supposed to be organic as well. Neem oil+soap ain't cutting it. Failed several times trying to grow tropicals(avocados, guava, mango). Going to try again using water heater, pump and tanks by plants to keep warm. Zone 9a touches below 27 for short times. Just enough to suck. Your opinions appreciated

      I let the pile of chips get hot for a few days, this sterilizes the seeds. I do not place over tall grass; I usually either till or cut the grass first.

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Před 2 lety

      yes bugs are a very big problem, but easy to remedy. but you need to spray twice a week. and after every rain. I also use mesh bags to keep the pickle worns off of the fruit.

    Hi, I noticed that there is a ball valve, slightly closed, after the Venturi. Is this to reduce the pressure on the outlet side of the Venturi?

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Před rokem +2

      it is a little tricky so I use pressure gauges and adjust accordingly, it will not suck if the pressure suction is not adjusted properly.

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Před rokem

      I'm not sure, however if the pressure is not strong enough it won't work. you could try a very small diameter injector and see if it worsk.

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Před rokem

      I don't its totally organic and I have never over fertilized. so I do not think that you can over fertilize with compost tea? with that said, you can tell by the color how strong it is. the longer it sets the darker is becomes.

    I made two of these for my raised beds. I have them attached to digital hose timer. They both seem to siphon water from my bucket but when the water turned off the water flows out of the siphons tube.
    I dont have the 2 ball valves on the sides is that necessary?
    Also do you keep your water on?
    To be clear my set up is in this order from the water source:
    Anti siphon valve
    Venturi loop
    Drip filter
    Drip timer
