U.S. at risk of insolvency from higher yields; these assets would be ‘destroyed’ - Michael Gentile

- The U.S. government is now so heavily indebted, that if interest rates continue to climb up, interest expenses alone could bankrupt the Treasury, said Michael Gentile, strategic investor and board member on several gold mining companies.
"If you take the $30 trillion of debt that [the U.S. government] has now, assuming rates go to 5%, which is not a crazy number historically on a 100 year perspective, that would be $1.5 trillion of interest expense, which would be 50% of their revenues, up from 10% of their revenues. So quite simply, they'd be completely insolvent at that level of interest rates," Gentile said, adding that the same apples to the other G7 countries.

There's a reason Russia and China have been scooping up gold recently.
China has been scooping up physical gold serious for a long time. People want to press that button to own it on paper and they don't want to be in the streets hustling up gold or silver. Perfect scenario for a real pirate. Stay on the computer and let the real blood hounds sniff out ounces of both. I have buddies with over 5k ounces of silver and 250oz in gold. March going to be a great month.

I own shares in a couple of mature producing gold miners in Australia, NST and NCM , share prices of both are down now of course but they recently paid very good dividends. They are worth holding just for the dividends with a good upside if the price of gold rises.
What’s the upside potential? I see upside potential in Wiluna mining, Theta gold mines, or Westgold. Zimplats looks like going ok atm.
