The enemy come to unit that move first, so move your second explosive unit first.

Almost every event has an a challenge like this. I don't think that was the INTENDED strat, necessarily, but jettisonning a unit you don't need anymore works so well it's often the best way to save time.

No, you don't need it, this is just a trick to make it easier for those who don't have many students/are low level etc, it's possible to do it in 400 seconds with just the first part of the video, I managed to do it and so did someone else in the comments.
