I wanted to know where is your garage. I want to bring my car over. I bought a second hand car and seems like the previous owner didn't clean it much so send me your door number and postcode or contact details please
You need to do more of these videos Jon. Just look at the views this made 👏
What is the product you used with the brush on the bottle to clean the car mats with ?
Great job you did here!
Doing a natural pigmented red is not for everyone and you nailed it!
I used to be a professional cardetailer aswell and did alot of jobs like this.
Thing is though, as I said, this is a natural pigmented red color, which was used often on older cars.
If I'm not wrong, they only started using chemical-colored red in the late 90's, which do have a clearcoat and will never fade.
Eventually these natural pigments will fade again over time, especially when sitting in the sun.
You've done a great job, and don't be so harsh on yourself, since it's the old natural colored paint that is screwing you over ;-)
I think you massively under sold yourself on this, the improvement you made was night and day. On cars like this there is literally no point in doing muliple stage correction to the paint. The owner of this car and even a prospective buyer (if it was up for sale) would only look at how shiny the paint is rather than looking for defects.
Excellent results and a thoroughly enternaining upload as always 👍
The channel would be called 'Modest Jon' if he weren't so modest.
It wasnt perfect for sure in fact some of it was poor by detailing standards yer I had a bit of a guilt trip because I did consider the possibility of another pass over the entire car but just didnt want to put that sort of time into it.
You did great. An additional pass wouldn't make sense because you risk ripping away more paint. However, It's always a good idea to top it all with a synthetic spray wax for that extra protection and gloss. Yes, I realize now this is a single-stage paint. Yep, this is the streamlined cost-cutting we've come to expect on today's cars. How sad.
Well said
there was no clear coat, he told us that repeatedly.
Mate, you did so much for this car. all you didnt do is silly to worry about. You underrastimate yourself mate. This transformation was truly just remarkable
All he done was polish a car mate. Calm down 😂
@@shaunsurname8275 nob
@@richlee509 😂 are we playing the "guess what shaun gave Rich Lee's mum" game?
@@shaunsurname8275 no need to make nasty comments is there. He is a nice bloke doing a good channel he did a lot to that car and if you disagree why the heck are you watching it
@@richlee509 no need in nasty comments.....why call me a nob then Richie boy?
Read it back, it wasn't nasty. All he did was a cut n buff on a car. Pretty much what anybody does and that guy was gushing over how amazingly brilliant he was 😂 only polished a car! Now if he had no arms and hands and had to use his own face as a cloth to do the job and ended up with that result then yeah, good job. Otherwise pretty standard
Dude, that car is a million times better than when you started, great work.
great job mate well done
This has to be one of the best detailing videos I’ve seen on CZcams. Thank you for doing it. Very satisfying and a great job ♥️
thanks jonny
My hat goes off to you dear Sir. You did an absolute amazing job on a horror car that was maybe never even washed by it's owner. There is no way to take that neglect to something near perfect. I was amazed you got the result you did in the timespan you did it in. This video is a statement what someone with good knowledge in detailing and materials can achieve, even if it's not perfection.
Last time I seen a transformation like this
Bruce Jenner
I Bout spit my coffee out 😂😂😂
Vince.
That was superb. 👊🏻😂
Katlin is looking pretty hot days I have to agree but I think the alto looks better an its all original no aftermarket air bags fitted or anything LOL
@@harrykuntz878 Who is katlin?
its something like that bruce jenners new name since he took to wearing a frock and said I am now a bird and that kind of carry on maybe it Kathleen I cant remember and the fake news said he is very brave then people started putting up pictures of firemen carrying children out of a burning building and saying this is brave not putting on a dress and make up and blokes in dresses and libral wankers got very upset about it . no offence to bloke's who wear dresses but if a bloke is going to wear a dress he need's to harden the fuck up and stop being such a pussy about it and grow a pair LOL
Really like that kind of restoration. Much more satisfying then most videos on youtube where they clean already clean cars.
Amazing work, sir. There is a saying that you can't polish a turd but apparently you can. Your attention to detail is commendable. Its a shame that people let their cars and equipment go that bad. I always say that maintaining the exterior of a car is as important as the interior and mechanical aspects of it.
Too humble, huge transformation and a fantastic gesture to your neighbor!
I can't believe it's the same car .you done so bloody well great work
Much more satisfying to renovate a neglected car than clean a new one. Well done.
You've done your neighbour a massive favour! So satisfying to watch this. The really 'bad' ones are the best to watch getting restored
Don’t doubt yourself man! You did an excellent job and you’re really under selling the work that you’ve done! I speak for everyone when I say you did an amazing job! Keep it up!
You sir did a very good job! The difference is night and day... Also this channel is vey UNDERRATED!!!!!
people like yourself that oooze positive energy and take time out of their day to make warm comments like this are the reason I do you tube. Much love from the UK sir thank you.
When I saw this in my recommended videos I thought Oh no, not another bloody car cleaning channel. I did watch it though and what a superb video! You're a great presenter too, honest and down to earth - and pretty good at cleaning cars ;) You've got yourself another subscriber 😊👍
You did more than an excellent job, but I would appreciate less facetime and more detailing footage.
Amazing job on the car ! If your neighbour treats a car like this i hate to see the state of their house!!!!
@@davidboyd6523 you probably have to wipe your feet on the way out of the house .🤣🤣
Indeed. This guys just keeps talking forever.
@Brad D: You probably know more about detailing a car than I do so I really appreciate the "talking" which gives me the ability to know why and how products are used on an old car. Mine is 1996, red, no clear coat left -- 22 years old -- and although it's old I like to drive around in a car that looks like it's loved.
Now I know that "ceramic" polishes won't do diddly-squat on my old car and I won't allow my detailer to up-sell me on a product that won't do anything but increase the price of the work for no good reason. Yeah, talking is good for my pocket.
@@davidboyd6523 I know it's been over a year since you commented, but for real, the person probably had the car parked in a shed, and hadn't driven it in years. That doesn't mean they don't take care of their house 😂😂
You are WAY too hard on yourself, that looks absolutely incredible!! When I first saw it I was going to say it needs to be scrapped
Your a legend John, the transformation speaks for is self the mona Liza wasn’t perfect so hats off , you’re neighbour must be a special person, good on you ! 👏👏
We have one early model suzuki alto that has being well polished and maintained , it stands out and glitters in the sun at the local supermarket carpark here in Feilding New Zealand, always makes me smile.
Thanks for the video, it makes us realize miracles can still happen.
One dirty neighbour!!!! Great job, I hope he appreciates all the hard work.
It would be nice to have seen the owners reaction. He must have been shocked!
I just love how you struggle to reach for all the products you have in the background, cracks me up each time! Great job with this project, big improvement!
Mad respect for you for doing this as a favor for a neighbor. Your passion for your trade shines more than the excellent work you did on the car.
At some point you must have considered a match and some petrol
You have 100% not give yourself enough credit here! I love vids like this! Transformation videos is what got me into this whole detailing stuff! More like this big man!
Bro....you did a HELLUVA job on that beater. You keep downplaying your work, but the end result is nothing short of miraculous. Hats off to you sir!
Appreciate your work on this car! The beauty NOW of the car speaks volumes of your expertise and diligent work ethic. 👍👍 Thank you so very much for sharing! Watching from Florida in the U.S.
Damn, why can’t I ever find a next door neighbor like you to live next to? Lol. Great job, huge difference. I’m frankly amazed you brought that back from a total write off to a decent little car (for what it is). Well done!
Good job, you're a good neighbor! I didn't realize how easy it was for mildew to start to form on a car until I moved to British Columbia and you can tell the people that don't care to clean their stuff cause their cars, their house siding, their roofs, etc, all start turning green. Liked and subscribed
This was the best restoration video I’ve ever seen. No lie.
More than an EXCELLENT job transforming your neighbors ugly filthy unloved car into a super nice and shiny car!! Like one person commented, most people looking at the transformed car wouldn't be inspecting for tiny paint defects if they knew the car was used. It looks FANTASTIC after you gave it some much much much needed love! 👍👍
Good job my man, wasn't even aware you could restore colour that way, looks 100 percent better than it did!
Wonderful how you explain every detail, a huge thank you!! The car looked beautiful!! Applause to you!
I watched this to get tips on cleaning up our neglected family car. As a perfectionist I can understand the drive to get it just right but I also think you did an absolutely stunning job! It's a really kind thing you did for your neighbour and bonus is that people like me get some great info on restoring our own cars :)
You are a wonderful neighbor. I hope the owner appreciated it. My son and I decided to clean up and polish my 1989 Chrysler New Yorker several years ago. The car had been in desert conditions ever since new, and the paint was a single stage white that was very oxidized. We spent about a total of 30 hours on it. First we sanded it with 800 wet or dry sandpaper, then went to 1000 grit, then 1200 grit. We used a buffer next with rubbing compound, then switched to polishing compound, and finally a swirl remover. When we waxed it, the car was amazing. It didn't have any of the factory orange peel look to it. The former owner saw it and was amazed also.
Hey Jon! Your knowledge and skill definitely “shined” through on this one. A great way to really perfect your polishing skills. Believe it not, I enjoyed this. 😀👍
The neighbour puts it on eBay the following day 🏃♂️... Great video 👍
hahaha I would! Car went from looking like it sat in the woods for YEARS to almost looking new again!
This is was cool, thanks!
Single stage paint with heavy oxidation is so satisfying to correct. Such a dramatic turnaround and single stage can finish down and jewel so well. I rarely get to work on it, especially with an open budget, but I really enjoy it.
Plus no cleanup, just throw most of the pads and towels in the garbage.. 😁
👍👌✌
Love the description for every product and stages. Not common on most videos on youtube. Really appreciate!.
Fantastic work and I love seeing this kind of work on "normal" everyday cars!
Very nice work ! I did the same car from my girlfriend but it was a yellow suzuki alto. The paint was as faded as your neighbours car. A really good honor from the work :)
Incredibly well done! Please don't under sell yourself. Transformation is absolutely brilliant.
That was a serious and honest video. Very good job that was!
I had bought a 1981 Dodge Mirada a few years back (before I started leaning about machine polishing and proper detailing). The car was a medium red with a white "faux convertible" vinyl top; paint was a single stage acrylic enamel. I bought the car because it was in excellent mechanical shape, and the interior was close to perfect. The hood (bonnet) and trunk (boot) were covered in small black specs. I assumed these to be surface rust, and had already figured that the car would need a repaint.. I took some pictures of the surfaces, and posted them to a couple of sites dedicated to this type of car. A few agreed on it being rust, some said it may have been tree sap with dirt embedded in it, others said it may have been insect droppings, or iron contamination. One day, while talking to the next door neighbour, i just casually rubbed a moistened finger over some of the black spots, and they began to dissolve, and when they dissolved, they turned brown. I got a water soaked rag, rubbed it on the block spots, and they dissolved and came off. I then came up with the following plan of action: a) wash all of the painted exterior surfaces with a strong dish soap and water solution; b) using Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #03 medium cut polish (really, a compound, went over all the painted surfaces by hand; c) repeated the same with Meguiar,s Mirror zGlaze #09 finishing polish. The paint from an almost orange color to a nice medium red, close ti what was shown in the sales brochures. I unded up using a bag if the Costco microfiber cloths, and pretty much threw them away after, as they were permanently stained from the oxidized paint that was removed. I did later go the whole was,h clay bar, chemical decontamination, machine compound & polish route. I think Inwould have pretty much done the same thing today, with the possible exception of using a machine polisher with the Meguiar's #03/#09, and used cheapest pads, as they would have to have been thrown away afterwards.
The Legend continues! Great work brother, definitely a lot of fun just watching the transformation 👍
I do enjoy detailing my own car or friends. I used to work at it years ago. This channel is very interesting and could watch all day and I will as a past time. Great stuff. Great channel and your a great worker.
Great job and encouraging to me as a car enthusiastic. Best work I've seen on the internet yet.
This is literally amazing! I thought you'd never save that finish. I am shocked! You really know what you're doing! 😊
Most everyday cars that get used aren't concourse de elegance stuff cut yourself some slack man its perfect bet your neighbor loves the transformation. These guys that put their Lambo's Maserati's and the like in for detailing and pay thousands might give a shit but who goes about shining special lamps on the paint work and saying '''oh look you missed a bit'' then the missus gets in a gets crumbs all place and you get divorced. Ain't worth it. Perfect job 10 out of 10 well done.
he did yer hes actually keeping the car in the family now which is cool. yer your totally right mike its just a cheap car that now looks a lot better. it doesnt need to like hit a high standard it just needed a quick tidy up. dunno though was just kind of filmed after a long day and all I could think was it needs another pass :)
Who would dislike such amazing job! You have done a miracle on the car! Massive job well done there mate!
Absolutely brilliant. Nothing to add which hasn’t been said already, amazing job. John you are my detailing hero....
Respect to you man, you just undersold your effort!
You’ve a job for life there mate, love the in depth wording of your work.
You, sir, are a detailing genius. Seriously. I love your passion and your knowledge is off the charts.
In 92 I had a red 88 205CTi which developed badly faded paint, particularly bad for a 4/5 year old car. I took it in for an interior valet which I did for all my cars ( it didn’t need it, I just took great care of my cars ). I went to pick it up and the guy mentioned the paint, I told him I’d tried to T-Cut out unsuccessfully and had given up. He got a bottle of AutoGlym polish, poured a bit on the bonnet. He machine polished the product on the bonnet and suddenly it appeared brand new. He told me it would cost £50 to do the full exterior.
Bargain, go ahead. Picked it up 24 hours later and it was mint, inside the red/charcoal interior was unmarked, outside looked like I’d just collected it brand new. All it cost was £100.
This reminded me of that old car, you did a very generous thing for your neighbours 👏👏👏, they must have been thrilled…….
that is a bargain mate. get yourself a machine polisher and polish it with rupes advanced or autoglym SRP once every 6 months to keep it mint.
Deeply satisfying to watch. Almost therapeutic! You must get great job satisfaction. 👍
Looks better than new. Awesome job, you need to give yourself more credit!
Wow what a transformation. Professional is an understatement when describing your work. The amount of time spent versus the outcome is just brilliant.
One of those cars that can fail an MOT from 500 yards. You did far more than this car deserved and did a great job all things considered!
Considering the timescale you had, that's nothing short of amazing John! 👍
GM/Opel/Vauxhall reds always used to fade, and I never understood why. Good to see that there's a way to bring the original colour come back to life...
Yeah, Vauxhall cars with red paint always seems to fade badly. Even ones less than 5 years old.
I heard it was when the EU started to ban oil based paint for environmental reasons and the early water based stuff was basically rubbish. The same reason why yellow cars disappeared for a few years, they couldn't make a stable water based yellow paint.
I had a red Vauxhall Cavalier mk3 which faded badly and went “ milky “ and was unable to do anything about it .
With that car parked in your neighbors driveway, you just brought the value of your Home up by thousands. God bless you for doing this. You are a very special person. What a fantastic neighbor you are.
FIRST - YOU ARE A MAGICIAN!!! I cannot believe the difference you made to the car!!! Huge respect 👍
SECOND - HOW CAN SOMEONE neglect a car THAT MUCH????!
In today's world of automated car washes and so many wash booths and car wash salons, you really have to be very very irresponsible to allow your car to deteriorate like that?! You don't have to be a detailing freak, but take your car thru an automated car wash once a month and it will NEVER EVER look as bad as this!!
You've done a wonderful thing for someone in your local community, and you should be very very pleased with yourself.
I hope that, if you can, you continue to help them out and tidy up those corroded areas and keep us updated.
Good luck and thank you for leading by example!
Great job and a very informative video. You really transformed that car
I love doing cars like that. Absolutely brilliant transformation. This is heaven for me. Brilliant logic in your approach too. Well done.
If I was the owner of this car I would be over the moon with the results. You made an excellent job of this car and should be really proud of the job you done.
Nice video, great storyline, your neighbor must love you !
This is a miracle, holy shit. I'm obsessed with this channel
Wow! I'm not a professional, but I think you did an amazing job.. all in one day? Very nice.
This is a true example of “polishing a turd” and you did a fantastic job of it! For a days work, that car looks hundreds or times better than it did.. thanks for sharing, awesome results!
What a great job. I hope he bought you a beer or something to say thanks.
You did more than this car deserved, but always nice to see such a huge transformation!
The car deserved it, the owners did not.
You're so right!
Chuck Finley So true!
Chuck Finley That is very true.
I love your attention to detail on the paint work and explanations!!
I bet thats the first time that car has been washed since it left the factory. Brilliant job Jon
Drastic times call for drastic measures even if that means using a sponge
Nowadays there are even very safe sponges available. Always stay curious and don't get stuck in the past because everything is moving forward and sometimes comes back to you! ;)
worked so well. was even getting a tiny amount of color transfer with megs when I worked it hard which was good because it means its scrubbing out some oxsidiation.
Sherukka ONR comes to mind?!
That's actually an old one (ONR) that many think is a relatively new invention, but also sponges like 'ESOTERIC Elite Wash Sponge by KAMIKAZE' (this is the same 'Kamikaze Collection Ultra-Soft Black Wash Sponge').
Thought I’d never see a detailer with a sponge. Waiting for your next vid, clean a car with a Brillopad
This is a man dedicated to his work
I just subscribed and glad I did I've learned Moore from you than any detailing site I've been on you work is outstanding and people who love they cars will know what I mean keep up the excellent work u do look forward to Moore video's thanks again
thanks richard really kind words appreciate it.
Great video and very satisfying to see the change. Many a time I'll see cars like this and just wish for 1 hour on a panel to show the difference that can be made.
"like the kind of blankets you get in prison" LMAO!!
It looked ready for the scrapyard. Now it's looking great - really presentable. Given the owner let it get like that in the first place, I'm not sure they deserved getting it back again! Anyhow, nice job.
From a 50 quid scrappy to a couple hundred cheapo runaround. Perfect job mate, wouldn't worry about the flaws too much.
What a video! I’m with the majority of other people who have commented here, you’ve understated the awesome job you’ve done. Also very interesting, keep the videos coming 👍🏼
as an american, when you said "hoover the boot" it took me a second haha. but great job on this car!
If it wasn't for a podcast I listen to ( Believe You Me, with former and England's first UFC champion Michael Bisping), constantly referring to the hood or trunk as THE BOOT, I wouldn't have understood what this but was saying either lol
Been watching many UK 🇬🇧 videos that some slang has crept into my vocabulary.
Boot, bonnet, and various other slang I already knew.
Fantastic job for a very unworthy recipient. I hate to say it, but your neighbour is a dirty bastard; in 2 years time it will be rancid again.
LOL!!!!!!! Say it like it is - made me larffff out loud ya did!!!! ....... and you're right, anyone who lets their car get like that in the first place, will do it again, leopards and spots ...... leopards and spots. Still laughing, I love English swearing when it's done right.
Dirty bastard. LOL!!!!
😂💯👍
Said exactly what I was thinking
i agree
Excellent job!! Very impressive results.
Love to detail my car as a novice, learned a lot from your knowledge, great job, great videos ,brilliant work .
Lovely job. Enjoyed the video.
For one day those results are awesome. Good work 👍🏻
Amazing transformation.
I never would have believed that was possible. Looked beyond saving.
Great video
Beautiful job! It's nice to see people like you in the world helping others. As you said this car was passed it's last day when you rescued it, now It can go on for quite a bit more time now. I hope your neighbour was grateful and will take better care of it now. Amazing results :)
1st visit to your channel, very nice approach to explaining and demonstrating, I look forward to catching up with all your vids, well done great channel
I wish I had a neighbor like you, all I get from mine is grief!
Wow!!! I can’t believe how you cleaned up this car!!! Amazing job!!!!
Really comprehensive vlog on how to resucetate a dead car. Very impressive! Thanks!
Fab video. Really informative and inspiring me to have a good go. Do you have any advice on trying to remove the 'shadow' left by stickers on ex police vehicles ex ambulance etc..
