👍 Good review of your pack. I agree it is disgusting when people defile nature with their trash. At one time I thought we would get past littering but lately it seems to be getting worse not better. Shame on anyone who does not haul their trash out with them. Very nice of you to correct their rudeness.

Every time we go camping I pick up trash left from whomever, pisses me off cause I do 90% of my campin along fresh water creeks
Every single time we go to our favourite lake we spend at least some time cleaning the place up after other people. When we leave, there is at least a good pile of kindling cut and stacked within easy reach of a cleaned fidelity and nothing man-made left lying about. We just consider it good manners and hope that if the next campers find it that way, they will also leave it that way.

In Australia, on long weekends, you can go into the bush and find a abandoned campsites ie plastic tents , foam ice boxes , empty food cans ect , I can only think that this situation arises because of cheap imports and a bad mindset.
I like how you called this your bushcraft backpack. I'm sure there are more than a few people out there that don't realize that there can be a big difference between a day hike backpack kit and a bushcraft kit. The last thing I'm going to do if I'm planning on doing lots of miles and elevation gains just for a hike is carry a twig stove, axe and saw. But if bushcraft is the intent of the adventure I'm going prepared for it. But yes I do understand there can be a gray area between the two, so a little planning always help. Great video I enjoyed it.

Someone mentioned redundancy. While one can overdo anything, a good rule to remember is ; 2 is one and 1 is none. I like to have at least 3 ways to do anything I set out to accomplish. I'm more a prepper/ survivalist than a bushcrafter.

A great survival pack! Nice job. Perhaps one of the best I've seen. I've seen many packs, plus I've put them together for family members, to keep in their vehicles. Anyone who has never used a pocket bello to start and keep a fire going is really missing out.
Quality large garbage bags do more than just haul out garbage (contractor bags). Duct tape and garbage bags will make a leaf filled bed (no bugs), rain fly, poncho even a tent, if you bring enough. PS: Never forget your duct tape.
Did he include all of these? He should have.
List of absolute necessities:
1) Fire Starters
2) hefty large Garbage bags (4-6 mil) 50 gal or larger.
3) Duct Tape
4) a good knife and sharpening stone. Multi-use knife is best.
5) Fishing equipment: hooks lines and sinkers.
6) first aid kit.
7) Canteen/water purifier
Would love to see a overnighter video with just this pack, food added of course.
Great Video! Slight correction: Your ground cloth is a west German „Elefantenhaut“ (elephant skin), on which every Bundeswehrsoldat has slept many a night... 😉 (together with a foam mat, the sleeping bag and a tarp it forms the soldier‘s sleeping system).
I highly applaud you for cleaning up after the scumbags. I would like to suggest a good sil nylon 8x8 tarp and a fishing kit.
The pocket bellows is honestly one of my most game changing pieces of kit lol
I have a backpack which I got at the Army Exchange in my area and it is like the military issued ones and I loved them. In it is my first aid kit which is still in the package, my main fire steel & stricker, a Corona folding saw, Gerber multi-tool, folding knife, hatchet, solar blanket for charging my phone, survivor kit with backup accessories including a flashlight, and the small flashlight in it. I have two compasses, and mirrors for signaling, a survivor blanket, a combination cookware set with skillet, plates, cups, and flatware. I also have some steel drinking straws, and I waiting for my headlight to put in the backpack also. I carry a folding tarp in my backpack, and my sleeping bag, and bed liner on the outside of the backpack attached to it. I keep one canteen in the bag along with one on my utility belt, with my main survival knife, and a few other items.

i absolutely love how little you need to enjoy the outdoors, theres so many people who have to plan for weeks to go camping for a weekend when in reality you just need some basic tools and supplies.

Thanks for the video, Learnt quite a bit from it. I still need a few things to complete my pack. I have the basics so far and adding on a month to month basis.
Really would love it if you put links to all your gear. Plus you can make a little extra on the side sometimes. Looking each item up is very tedious.
Consider adding binoculars to see situations from far away and a magnifying glass to conserve fire starting supplies on sunny days.

The best "Survival" tool is Knowledge and Experience. The rest is best left unspoken.
My grandfather fitted almost everything he needed for weeks in his pockets and on his belt. The backpack was for food, alcohol, water, wire, bullets and tobacco. No channel goes anywhere near his Native American knowledge. His most prized tool aside from his rusty knife and a 303 was a collins machete. did not learn enough. I have a huge backpack.

It's a superior japenese blade. That's not to say others suck! If you are not a spaz and let the saw do the cutting, they are hard to beat.

@@ChromeArty I just use a fiskars pruning saw..$15CAD versus how much is the silky? Get what will work for you which more often than not will be a cheaper alternative to what everyone else thinks you should use. There are ups and downs to every tool. In the end its a saw and you're right people are far too salty about peoples kit decisions.
@@ryannlarge8414 for sure man! The Silky Big Boy was $100.35 after tax. And I would never turn my nose up at a Fiskars either! I will most likely be picking one up from can tire ome day.
My reasoning for the Silky is: I will be building a bush shelter hopefully soon, and need a larger saw for larger timber. It is the brand that the local mom and pops chainsaw shop carries, I have a preferance for anything Japanese made, the quality is hard to argue with(I have had a Nissian D21, a Toyota Tacoma, and am now running a lifted Suzuki XL-7) AND last but not least... it's a write off 😄.

@@ChromeArty Man I love my rogue but I'm getting the jerk around over a cold weather start issue. little bitch has issues starting as warm as -6c and any colder than -10c she sometimes won't start at all. As for internet arguments I've had people angry that I use pickerel rigs for day to day fishing or the fact that I prefer a 1oz pyramid sinker for most situations.

Everytime I go out I bring a trash bag for others litter. Is annoying, but the places I go dont have park services very often so I figure why not clean the area I use as well. Its amazing what people leave behind
I totally understand, my boys & I are so used to cleaning up camps before we camp out due to previous visitors leaving their trash. It is a real shame but it is what it is. I think I'm gna give that CRKT tomahawk a try. Nice gear & scenery. - Marco

That’s a nice load out. It’s to bad that some people have to leave such a mess. One spot I like to go to the garbage is so bad in places, I would need an air lift from a Chinook helicopter to get the crap out. I can’t believe some of the things out there. I just have my own little spot that I like to go to and the only way you would know I go there is if you find my two sticks I have made up for my tarp.

Last time I went out I found a half burned tent and a bunch of bottles. Took 5 minutes and the woods were nice again. Great kit, all the best.

You kinda skipped over the thing I was most interested in: what kind of titanium wood stove do you have in Tuff Possum gear pouch? I heard the separate pieces clanging inside the bag, so maybe the Emberlit Fireant?
Tuff Possum makes some amazing pouches.
That hidden woodsman pouch isn't on their web site however I did discover nitecorr / makes great EDC pouches.
I did order one hidden woodsman pouch for fire. And I ordered an llbeen camp ax as mu tomahawk. It's made by grand force one lb.
You should try a cold steel spike hawk . I use mine for multiple uses . like rolling logs or rocks for bait and when I'm climbing a steep hill the spike works great for planting in the ground for extra grip so pervent me from sliding and falling
Kuksa is best way to drink coffee or anything you got while in wilderness. The feeling is just something else. Finnish origin from Sami people and now most used cup in bushcraft atleast here in Finland.
Not even an extra pair of socks. I always have a change of clothes in my pack. I know you can carry too much, but I feel this is a must.

Nice setup. I old and stubborn and still using my modified medium Alice along with modified duece gear. I usually stay out for 2 to 3 days, or as long as my wife will let me!😆

1:05 I seriously feel for ya it's not just you I drive otr as a truck driver and I want to pick up all the trash I see on the on and off ramps on freeways/highways. There's especially alot in california. Also especially tires since they can be reused. I've found lots of 5 gal buckets that still looked to be in usable condition. I was able to pick up 3 home Depot buckets with oil in them. Cleaned them up and kept them only one was discolored due to uv rays. Not a big deal tho. Also be careful where you put those chem glow lights they do break open sometimes. Due to heat or seal break after all it is still plastic on the outside and there is a seam there. I would put in a seperate ziplock freezer bag
I also keep a foldable backpack from Amazon under venture pal which can be unfolded into full size backpack for If you collect more stuff on your trip back home than you came with.
Great video bro . There's a few things I would add . You really need stuff for land nav .... Compass , maps , GPS . Also a roll of duct tape . With enough duct tape and paracord i can move mountains . You can never have enough . Also I see nothing for hunting , trapping , fishing unless you bring food that could be a problem . All in all a great kit .
you can set pretty primitive traps with what ever is around you most of the time. Idk how primitive this guy goes but I know some channels dont bring any hunting or trapping gear they just make it when they settle somewhere.
I agree with some of the gear you carry, and some is different. I prefer a larger ruck (my go-to ruck are the MARPAT ILBE with the attachable assault pack when I'm going on a longer, deeper excursion and need more gear, it's my "everything but the kitchen sink" bag, and my 5.11 Tactical Rush 72 for a good size ruck and don't feel like carrying such a large, heavy ruck. It still is good lots of gear. Both have MOLLE all round and compression straps, which are important features in a quality ruck IMO, and these rucks are very well made). Most of my gear is military surplus. I make extensive use of the MOLLE to attach more pockets and pouches.
I spent the first 40 years of my life in a good size city, and moved to an isolated, rural, mountainous area 5 years ago. I have always carried guns and knives both places (just more guns with more power, more extra ammo, bigger knives, etc...... in the country). We live on a large tract of private, heavily wooded land in the middle of nowhere and there is a lot of dangerous wildlife here. In the city, a compact .45 ACP, .40 caliber etc......, along with an extra high capacity mag or two (yes, I have a CCW permit), and a spring assisted tactical folding knife is appropriate city armamentfor gang bangers and crack heads. I still carry a semi auto pistol (or two), and extra mags, as well as a magnum caliber revolver, powerful rifle and/or .12 gauge tactical shotgun (with plenty of mags/ammo for everything), plus bigger knives, usually a bayonet, tac vest with MOLLE, etc...... in the woods around here. I'm a gun enthusiast and I also don't want to be the victim of someone cooking crystal meth or growing weed (or their guard dogs, which they make vicious as hell) deep in the woods so, an AK, M14, H&K G36, 45-70, 300 Win Mag, etc...... often accompanies me and my handguns (with plenty of ammo for everything, and maybe a .12 gauge Mossberg 500) when I venture into the woods around my property. I have to ask, what kind of zippered pouch was that you carry for a fire bag? It's similar to the fire bag I carry. And who makes that heavy duty sheath knife you carry, and where can I obtain one for how much? I like it. I believe in redundancy (the classic "two is one and one is none" mentality). My primary sheath knives are the U.S. Marine KA-BAR on my pistol belt, with a German military Eickhorn or Gerber Strong Arm in my backpack. Also, who makes that double sided sharpening and honing stone in the case and where can they be obtained?

I have the same T-hawk. The only modification I did (other than sharpening the edge) was to square off the hammer; I didn't like that it was rounded. I see guys shorten the handle a bit but I like it stock except for the shape of the hammer.

The problem with silky is that the snap easily, steel is stiff and brittle. Baco not so much. Other than that they are great saws.
Thats why I was thinking that, probably silky pocket boy would be best silky, bc it is only so long, less likely for snappage, because your tasks would be smaller.

I think you could use a portable solar panel battery pack. Yes they are heavy, but it will charge your phone, be a 10,000mAh flashlight, and solar panel for any electronic gear. They're under $20.00 for a decent one now. I would also rather have some lighting redundancy for my uses. I do a lot of night time fishing and camping, and could use a bit more there. I don't mind the redundancy as long as you're comfortable carrying it. There are a million ways to reconfigure whenever you NEED to, including dumping gear if you have to.

You're much better off with an aluminum take down buck saw than a hatchet unless you plan on using it as a weapon.
Interesting video , it's always good to have a couple pairs of socks to through in there, dry feet makes life so much better when your our for a couple days

I like your camping gear especially the backpack. I actually prefer the Corona razor tooth 8" saw, it has pretty aggressive teeth on it & I use one at work. I also have a fold up 1 1/2" magnifying glass (for fire starting & reading) I got from a civil war reenactment event. I'm thinking about getting a Vulcan fire piston it as well, it has a water proof compartment on it to carry some char-cloth. It's a little expensive for my kit but I think it'll be worth it. Thanks for sharing it gave me some great ideas.

I'm not sure how you define a bushcraft backpack but it seems to be very short term. No blanket or sleeping bag, no shovel, no fishing or hunting gear and of course, no food! I think just carrying a few disposable lighters is a better to go, with a few candles as well! What about a bug net, anywhere you have standing water you'll have plenty of bugs! Thanks for the video!

You don't need a pocket bellows with your piece of foam. Literally use the foam to fan the flames and you'll find it a lot easier as it takes less work than blowing with your lungs. Free's up a space in your kit to keep a dry spindle for friction fire or something.
