Thanks for sharing. What fiber content is appropriate for enteral formulas when feeding patients on vasopressors?

      Hello,
Thanks for your question. Typical recommendations for enteral nutrition formulas when feeding patients receiving vasopressors include either a fiber free formula or a low fiber formula depending on the clinical presentation of the patient. Standard formulas with fibers or formulas with substantial 'insoluble fiber' content are typically to be avoided with patients on pressors. Hope this helps!

Hello. Have you found any research that discusses fiber on pressors? I’ve also been instructed to use fiber free/low fiber formulas but I’m unable to find research to back that claim up. The most that I’ve been able to find is the 2016 ASPEN guideline saying that per expert consensus fiber containing formulas should be avoided while on pressors. Thank you!
