It's now 2022...Jeff looks so young and thin!!!!!! Thanks to Jeff's work, gains have been made in police department's attitude towards public photography. Thanks Jeff.
Well done. I like the end part too. I love how law enforcement make a deal about citizens not giving names, but when you, as a citizen, ask their names, they just keep walking.
Didn't you realize that all gov't officials are above the law? Whenever they break the laws that they enforce, they use QUALIFIED IMMUNITY or use subterfuge on the public to get their way.
You are definitely not talking to much...all you say is making clear what the boundaries are...and so you are doing a great job. No provocation....nothing. Just asserting your rights. I learned from this a lot, ty for sharing
I would like to personally thank you for teaching not only me but thousands of americans that we do have more rights than we know and that we can flex them. thank you for teaching me that i do NOT need to be afraid of the police as long as i am legal. thank you very much.
That was CLASSIC. Never saw you channel before, but I LOVE the way they all of a sudden GOT IT when you told them the name of your site... I loved the way the lady federale was writing down your information, and then all of a sudden realized that perhaps acting like the GESTAPO, was actually not in keeping with that oath... "oh yeah, we made an oath to uphold the constitution." BTW, the KGB (actually Polish SB) detained my brother for doing exactly this (as a dumb kid) 30 years ago.
IIPadre4103, I believe your perception of the Lady Federale's motivations is incorrect. She was not embarrassed by the name of his CZcams channel. That name did not cause a sudden change in her heart. That name was all she needed to completely identify Mr Gray. Her goal of identifying him completed, she went back to her car. Jeff Gray, if it was your intention to give only certain information to those who question you, specifically the fact that you are a journalist gathering content for a story, then why did you identify yourself?
Don't you just love it when a citizen exercises his right to privacy, but a nameless 'agent' characterizes that as "he refuses to identify himself" as though there were a clear obligation to do so.
Should be a rule when you know you're in the right, get their business card and have them identify themselves by name and title before deciding whether you'd like to be nice and answer any questions. Remember, they aren't assuming who we are, and regardless of what secure building they came from you don't know who they are other than someone wanting to get up in your business.
Even though you talked, in my opinion you still have more courage and certainly much more active in the protection of our first amendment than most of us. It is because of people like you that cops have to check themselves. To serve and protect, not give in to tyranny.
***** why an unemployment office? Its better to focus on government that is taking advantage of citizens rights like the FBI and other law enforcement.
"I'm not gonna talk too much this time." Starts talking anyway. When the guard said "They don't like that" (taking pictures). The correct response is either nothing or "Too bad" When the FBI agents showed up you started talking even before they asked what you were doing there. One of the tactics law enforcement officers use that works 99.9% of the time is that people want to tell their story. They know a talker when they see one, all they have to do is shut up and the person will tell them all they need to know. You fit that bill perfectly. And what were you thinking giving them your CZcams channel? And speaking on a cell phone that can be tracked. The whole point was to film without telling them who you are, right?
I believe it's a better tactic to, upon initial contact with each and every officer, that the very first thing out of your mouth should be to demand their name and personnel number. If they refuse then say, "foreign on the record"*. Typically, people only ask an officer for his badge # after they think the officer has done something wrong, asking for it first is an off speed pitch they won't see coming and in many cases this alone could make them tread more lightly. Furthermore, they will be more willing to provide it BEFORE they commit a questionable act against you, and once they have provided it they might be less likely to commit a questionable act in the first place. It can get really good too because lets say you're initially approached by 2 cops, you ask to ID and they both refuse. "Foreign on the record" you say....then 3 mins later a 3rd officer arrives and as soon as he stands by you you ask him to ID himself. Now more times than not the 3rd officer is going to see that you are recording, coupled with the fact that you immediately asked him to identify himself and from that he is going to assume that the first 2 officers have already ID'd themselves to you even though they haven't. And be sure that the first 2 officers aren't going to be dumb enough to tell the 3rd guy NOT to ID himself while they are all on camera. So, the 3rd officer may ID himself immediately and in seconds you've turned it around on the first two cops who didn't ID themselves. Oftentimes this in itself will compel the first 2 officers to ID themselves as well. All it should take is for you to ask them one more time. You can rinse and repeat as many times as necessary. The more cops that show up the tougher the decision gets for each one. Also, I will say that I believe this tactic puts you on a better philosophical footing upon which to not ID yourself or answer any questions. I won't even mention the legal footing because of course, you never have to answer any questions at all, ever. However from a human element standpoint, if officer #1 refuses to ID himself, then it would be preposterous for you to engage with that individual whatsoever. How do you even know that he is what he purports to be? You don't. Im ok with IDing yourself if you chose, when it comes down to it, "they" know who you are already anyway. But outside that, if they refuse to ID themselves, I would remain absolutely silent. If they ID and you wish to entertain their queries, then so be it. (Knowing of course that you're taking your life in your hands by discoursing with the police in that way, but I understand part of your mission is one of sharing of information you believe in.) So I would propose my method become your approach, if they ID, then have at it, if they don't then you should stfu. Cops who refuse to ID themselves aren't the type that your message, in that manner, will have an impact on anyway. I enjoy your videos Ive seen many of them, keep up the good work. Freedom baby. * I don't believe this means anything at all in the grand scheme but it's a little psychological trick to perhaps make them think that maybe you know something that they don't, or maybe you know what you're doing more than you may.
I agree with this. If you choose to talk with these public servants, the first thing you should demand is their name, to see a certified copy of their Oath of Office, their Bond Number and Insurance Policy that allows them to conduct business; a badge number would also be good but these 3 additional questions should put the fear of God into these servants, helping them recognize who is in authority and who is the servant.
this guy is a hero. to all those hating against him, he is doing more for you than you know. wait til you cant walk out the house without someone teling you what to do with your life.
I really liked the fact that you showed all the images at the end of the video... How can there possibly be any security concerns when satellites documented the whole area to the best detail.
I watch you loyaly Jeff. You are brave, polite and knowledgable about the law,, but damn, even when you say you talk too much you still do. But hey..you're a better man than I. At least you are out there doing it. And I thank you. I also realize this video was from six years ago and I'm sure you're learned a lot since then.
@Sephiroth AStorm While I might be thirteen, I do memorize and study My own rights and the rights of our community's officers. The reason we /do NOT/ have to present any form of identification unless being detained is because we are registered as CITIZENS. Officers, on the other hand, are considered government personal and MUST give badge number and name when asked to. And, while it may be questionable, the entire point of this video was to exorcise our constitutional rights. I have actually been planning on making videos of this sort, but the last time I tried to prove an officer wrong he attempted to put me under arrest. So I am proud to say that I approve of this man's methods and have just now subscribed. Have a nice day.
Jeff, my opinion of your work has no succinct value on how you conduct YOUR business. You are the best at auditing these criminal gov't public servants. I agree with your style and delivery. Keep up the great work!
if you mr cop, is concerned about security, then build a 20 ft brick wall around your precious building. yet, these are the same cops who will say that YOU are paranoid if you think you need a gun for protection. the only difference is they can carry a gun anywhere anytime they want, and they are concerned about their security?
I was hoping he'd point out that, if they had any concerns about people seeing or recording their building from the sidewalk, they would have some kinds of barriers, like trees at least, to block their view. I've walked by homes and been within 20 feet of them but not been able to see what they looked like because of the trees out front.
He says at the beginning of the video hs's going to test how long it'd take for some one to approach him for filming the FBI building. - I think they passed the test. - The gentleman in the guardhouse was on the spot asking what they were doing. - The two agent in the vehicle arrived timely & were reasonable & polite. I'd say over all the FBI passed the test in class form. They're taking good care of the citizens building & looking after their interest (in this case). One safe building!!!
The Google Earth images totally blow their security concerns argument out of the water, but it does seem to me that the average iq of an FBI agent is way above that of an average cop. . . Keep up the good work and great vids all respect from the UK. . .

Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes.
DHS put out a memo regarding filming Federal Government buildings, explaining over and over that the public can take pictures of the outside and even the inside of any public lobbies. Someone should give a copy to the security guard and all the federal employees I'm that building.
...they did a better job not answering questions than he did... I saw absolutely nothing wrong with their interaction, the agents did a good job and now have his name, info, address and probably have survellance on his house thanks to him saying "this is my website"....

Great job again Jeff!! Keep up the fantastic work.
Looked like publicly available internet sources are able to provide better angles and views of their property, than your cameras that they are so worried about. ✌️

You can take your concerns about the building security and stick them behind a big wall !!!!
I like the last bit with photos available to any one.
