Distinguished and adventurous Swedish citizen, worthy representative of ancient and courageous Viking navigators from cold and beautiful northern lands, I can only tell you that you should have reached the end of the world to crown your beautiful journey: the small Chilean city of Puerto Williams (Navarino Island). It is not the end of the world, but much further south, that is, to the Cape Horn archipelago, the so-called "Navigators' Everest"; the true geographical end of the world, and the last corner of the American continent before reaching Antarctica. Greetings from Chile; from the beautiful, green and crazy geography of Chilean Patagonia
Yes Andy, truly spectacular area. Milo changed crew here and sailed to Antarctica and back with other people decided earlier. So she and her boat did what you mentioned, but that was not part of my story :-).
I loved that vid. Everything about it: brave travelers, beautiful scenery, far away yacht clubs and fishermen, and music that embellished rather than detracted (as is usual)....I would crew for you anytime, Milo. And the cooking looked great as well.

@@EMagnusLinden I will make sure of that. I was surprised you could do it in 2 months. May I ask, what was the reason for sometimes not having the anchor down?
Judith Jacobsen when we knew the wind would come from any direction and we were landlocked with land close we thought it was better and safer with lines a shore (with chafe gear) than an anchor that could drag in places with a lot of kelp on the bottom. Also it made it possible for a fast escape if needed, just drop all lines and go. But a lot of time we anchored with at least two lines ashore when we were not landlocked.

did this passage in 88, south to north though, pretty much motored Puerto williams to just north of Puerto montt due mainly to consistent northerlies, got pretty drunk (along with most of the carabineros) whilst tied up at the carabineros wharf in Puerto Eden, planning to do it again someday
Sounds exiting, Milo, who I sailed with, did a sail some years earlier with a smaller boat (28 feet) in the same area in opposite direction. She too was frustrated by the northerly winds, especially since she had engine trouble.
I noticed that you tied off to trees, rocks and other land based location. Is anchoring not allow or does the bottom not present a good anchoring opportunity?
Anchoring is allowed it is just that with unpredictable strong gusty winds from all directions you need to “fixate” the boat in the anchorages (calderas) and a solid rock or sturdy tree has more reliable holdingpower than an anchor resetting in a wind shift or the pressure from a beam storm gust.
Hi, the boat is made of steel and is 33 feet. It is a Långedrag 33 made from drawings by Rolf Modig, the hull was made in Estonia and the interior in Latvia.
Hi, you check in to Chile (or Argentina) at a port of entry. After that you are requested to give a plan for what anchorages you plan to visit in what order and asked to report in as often as possible If VHF (when you pass mannen lighthouse, passing ships or like) or daily if you have SSB. This is for security reasons if something goes wrong in these remove areas. However, how you follow the plan and how detailed the plan need to be can vary.
Milo had two other friends joining her for the sail down to Antarctica. After that she sailed home to Sweden, partly alone and partly with friends. She wrote a book about her sail (in Swedish) and have a homepage with the blog from the sail, but also in Swedish (but maybe google translate will work). She now lives in the Stockholm archipelago and work as a nurse when she is not sailing with Artemisia II in the Scandinavian waters. We see each other as often as we can. Thanks for your kind words and for watching. It is a truly special place. The yacht is a Långedrag 331, a steel hull custom made from drawing from a Swedish designer (Rolf Modig) and 33 feet (10m m). We did not try the mussels, only in the restaurants, but we most likely could have :-).
The music is created by Johnny Östergren, a new friend who is creating music on his spare time and has allowed me to use his music in videos I make and publish. He has a CZcams channel with some music, the link is:
adventure of a lifetime! thank you for sharing the lovely images.
tony smario Thanks for watching!
Finally I took my time to watch this. Very interesting, indeed. Not unlike the northern Norwegian fjords
and reminds me of Lofoten, exponential. Thnx for sharing m8!
What a blast!! thanks for sharing ...and Milo for.showing the world that we must fight for this planet.....
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Thanks for watching!
This is totally epic - I have circulated it to friends who are more adventurous than me.
Thanks!
Really enjoyed this. Lack of commentary surprised me at first, then I preferred it. Top trip, top country
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
I’m South American, and I’ve enjoyed viewing your video of my magnificent Andes. Seems you’ve had the adventure of a lifetime, now all you have to do is write the book. Safe travels...
Rudy Castaneda Thanks for your comment, yes it was a once in a life time experience. I have written several Books about sailing (see my HomePage bortomhorisonten.nu) but not about the sail through Patagonia. However I wrote a more detailed blog if you are interested: magnuslinden.blogspot.com/?m=1
súper wonderfull, thanks so much
Thanks for watching
Yes, Wonderful: vidio, paseing, music; only thing missing, verbal narration that the human voice of the person that is there gives the true breath of life to the vidio.
Thanks for watching and feedback. Yes voice over could be nice, I have also heard the exact opposite that it is nice to not have voice over so I do not know what is best :-)
@@EMagnusLinden M. Much THANKS for YOUR reply. Yes, for every "i want it THIS way" there IS "I want it THAT way" Again, thanks for your GENTLE reply!

Hi Magnus, I really enjoyed seeing the images from your trip. It looks amazing. Thanks for putting it all together and posting it. I'm very much hoping to take a trip down that way myself in a couple of years (though I will be going west). This is inspiring.
Thanks for watching, yes it is a fantastic area but with a unpredictable weather. Good luck with the plans!!
Nice to see a area where I did transit frequently for eight months back in 1969 when working as a 3rd mate onboard a Norwegian LPG carrier.
I'm from Pto Mont and fished to Puerto Aguirre from 1986 to early 1992 and moved to USA 1992. beautiful memories
Thanks. I needed that. By the way, your friend makes awesome music☺
dantakeoff Thanks, yes I really like his music, especially knowing it is just a hobby of his.

What a fantastic epic adventure. Thanks for the video, but I can't help but wish you have filmed in at least 2K. Nonetheless, beautiful!!
Thanks for watching. Agree, 2K would have been nice and a more steady hand and slower movements but a lot filmed with IPhone :-)
Wonderful photography.
Thanks for watching
did this passage in 88, south to north though, pretty much motored Puerto williams to just north of Puerto montt due mainly to consistent northerlies, got pretty drunk (along with most of the carabineros) whilst tied up at the carabineros wharf in Puerto Eden, planning to do it again someday
Sounds exiting, Milo, who I sailed with, did a sail some years earlier with a smaller boat (28 feet) in the same area in opposite direction. She too was frustrated by the northerly winds, especially since she had engine trouble.
Sensational job.
Awesome video . Thanks for sharing.
matrixi4i Thanks, glad you liked it!
Wonderful...Thank You!
Thank you for watching!
Great video ,many thanks I am really like it
Really nice... someday.
Thank you!
Bonjour!! What's the boat length? Look like aluminum boat.
Hi, the boat is made of steel and is 33 feet. It is a Långedrag 33 made from drawings by Rolf Modig, the hull was made in Estonia and the interior in Latvia.
Brilliant thanks 🙏
Потрясающие 2.5 месяца. Невероятное приключение
Roman Artemiev Thanks, yes it was :-)
when you pull up and anchor at remote places like this, is there any immigration checking in stuff or does no one take notice? thanks
However, how you follow the plan and how detailed the plan need to be can vary.
so espectacular and nice.
what happened with the sailboat after you leave usuahua by plane?
Milo had two other friends joining her for the sail down to Antarctica. After that she sailed home to Sweden, partly alone and partly with friends. She wrote a book about her sail (in Swedish) and have a homepage with the blog from the sail, but also in Swedish (but maybe google translate will work). She now lives in the Stockholm archipelago and work as a nurse when she is not sailing with Artemisia II in the Scandinavian waters. We see each other as often as we can. Here is the link to her homepage: www.milodahlmann.se/
@@EMagnusLinden thanks a lot
From who is the great guitar music from ?
Simply amazing
That's a great video and great soundtrack. What was the first song used?
Thanks for your kind words and for watching the video.

I really enjoyed your video. I have been to Ushuaia on a trip to Antarctica on the Bark Europa. I found Tierra del Fuego very interesting, and a wild, beautiful place. Have you read Joshua Slocum's account of sailing the Strait of Magellan?
Mirror Cruising Thanks for watching. Fantastic area and great that you have been there with Europa (was there a crew membrer called Leah Sweet on board with you?). Yes I read Slocum and his encounter with the natives and tacks on deck, allthough it was a while back now. Sometimes I find books from sailors cruising in the past and it is fashinating (and sometimes scary) to realize how much has changed. All the best, Magnus
NICE !
Did you guys ever raise sail?
Excellent very well done

does anyone know the name of the song played? The First one
