    Love this! I'm on a 40-day social media fast right now and I don't plan to go back after the 40 days. It's been bliss!

    I got rid of my Facebook earlier this year...it was the best decision! My life is so much better...I had no idea how awful it made me feel, because I was clinging to the little fun parts. But those little fun parts are NOT worth allll the many negatives. I have more time, more joy, more peace...more life.

    I have cut out literally every person who might post negative things on their FB page. I stick to only my most positive and supportive friends and family. This helps me to get a nice boost each morning when I check in. I try to spend no more than 30 minutes checking FB in the morning, and then perhaps again in late afternoon. Then I get completely offline around 5pm (or dinner time) for the rest of the night. This helps me keep a perfect balance of staying in touch and having that social support I need without getting too sucked into all of the other stuff.

    I decided to give up Facebook on the first of this month. 12 days later, I don't miss the constant photos of other people's food, gossip, and political posts. I realized that I really don't have to post a bunch of photos of myself with friends if I don't want to. I have a right to keep going out with friends/on dates private. And there also is such a thing as a phone or e-mail if I want to communicate with friends.

    I am really glad that you posted this, I have been on my journey of getting off of social media starting this past week. I am an educator and the last year and a half has been so stressful for me that I’ve gained 30 pounds and really had major mental health issues due to the pandemic. A lot of noise coming from all angles has been hard, so getting off social media has been a life saver. I have been able to focus on starting my side business and reading a bunch of books! It’s amazing how much time you have for your family and other hobbies and ventures when you don’t have social media. I didn’t realize how much I was scrolling. And don’t even get me started on Tiktok, I am obsessed and I can’t even be near it LOL

    Hi Kayla! I have contemplated this myself! I am holding back just because of family members, and what I fear I will miss with them.
    I have watched a lot of your videos and really enjoy hearing about your fasting and weight loss. Unfortunately, I have not committed completely in fear of hormones, weight gain after, etc... Stupid little reasons that keep me overweight. 😟 Hopefully, my mind will rest with these thoughts and I can finally put my plan into action. Thank you for all of your videos.

      Hi Dawn , I hope you dont mind me replying but after starting my fasting journey 3 weeks ago I wanted to tell you that ironically it was taking an interest in hormones that prompted me to start , insulin was the key word for me, and autophagy with all its benefits. If I can be of any help at all with questions you may have pls feel free to contact me, I am not medically trained or asking for anything in return but after watching months worth of stuff on YT and online about fasting I feel that I have a pretty good database. Go for it would be my advice as I have lost a lot in 3 weeks and feel pretty good in general , I am a convert and can eat anything I fancy every second day, following Kayla's advice I walk everyday now which has been quite a change for me.

      @@dawnhudson9522 Good for you. The flexibility of fasting is great, it may take you a while to find a routine that works for you but its worth it. I threw myself in at the deep end and have one meal every 47 hours , it gets easier with time. Currently 3 weeks in and lost 16 lbs , plus the health benefits that go with it. I wish you the best of luck on your journey , I think my biggest issue was the snacking inbetween meals which I never realised how often I snacked before stopping it ;)

    Im 49. So i can remember a time where my parents had 2 tv channels on their B&W tv & the phone rang once a week. My collegues daughter got her first iphone & in 2 days she got 1200 messages, didnt do her homework, barely slept so they had to take it from her. Easy for an oldie like me because ive gotten the 200+ "electronic communication" safety/logic lessons slowly with time so i know how to navigate the cesspool that is online today. Dont get me wrong there is a lot of good online, but being online has certainly also strengthend like groups of "villiage idiots". So going anonymous or partial anonymous online is probably the for the best. Espeically if you are young, because then someone can 30 years later dig up some sarcastic remark you made as a kid & use it against you.

    • @SixMilesToSupper
      @SixMilesToSupper  Před 3 lety +1

      So true. I'm a bit younger (38 in November) but I too remember rotary phones and the fact that they didn't ring too often. But we also got AOL in 1995 and man how things have changed since then. The amount of distraction and constant intrusion into life is so different now. But I agree, there's a lot online that is good. The anonymity is a tricky issue too. On one hand, I think it's important that past remarks not be used against you (even adults say things and then completely change their minds or regret it, or misspoke). On the other hand, the anonymity can make it so that it's easier to be meaner, because you're not risking your reputation. It's a tough situation.
