Did this job on an N54, quite a messy job but simple enough and will save you a fortune doing it yourself of course😊

I bought a few of the same Febi 38530 oil filters two years ago. The rubber U-shaped O-ring/gasket thing included for installing down in the oil filter housing was the wrong type. So I had to use the old one. Now I have bought a Hengst oil filter that luckily came with the correct gasket. Did you notice anything like that?
I have asked febi about it and they said there is a pattent on that flat seal so they have to make their own. I did the same as you and reused the old one as I can't take any chances with low oil pressure especially on the N57 engine which is known to wear rod and main bearings🤝🏻
@@TheKeenMechanic I would never use a different seal design than the OEM. The febi seal didn't seem to fit very well.

If doing this work with the engine in the car, does the intake manifold need to be removed or is this possible without removing it?
It will be a bit more difficult with the intake in place but not impossible. I would recommend to remove the intake and clean it and also clean the valves. Egr valve on these engines covers the intake ports and valves with soot in less than 10k miles. Don't ask me how I know 😁
@@TheKeenMechanic thanks for your reply. I do want to clean the intake manifold as my car is almost at 120k miles but cannot find anyone who I can trust to walnut blast the valves unless anyone has a recommendation in and around London.
@@TheKeenMechanic when removing the oil filter housing, what is the best method to drain the coolant to prevent any coolant getting into the engine. The N57 2013 LCI does not have a coolant drain. Thank you in advance.
@@MeryemKupeli-cz2jf You can do a good job with Mr.Muscle oven cleaner and brake cleaner. Check out my video. I bought a walnut blaster but to be honest if you are not in a big hurry you can close valves, fill up ports with oven cleaner and may have to repeat twice. They will be as good as new. The benefit of the wallnut shells cleaning as you can clean the ports straight away. However for your intake manifold you will not be able to clean with walnut sheels.

Do i need to drain the coolant and oil if i take off the housing?
Yes, time it with your oil change if not too bad as some coolant may leak into the oil. Drain coolant first then remove housing and last drain oil. Best of luck and thanks for your comment

This is the third time my oil cooler gone bad . Mixing oil in water. What could be the main reason of this. My mechanic is unable to explain.

Was the cooler itself replaced or just gasket in all 3 cases?
Does engine have to come out ?
I had mine out for timing chains but you can do the oil filter housing gasket with the engine in🤝🏻
