    First off thank you for this video, From this I built the 2 tanks but I cut the whole bottom off the top pan, then drilled the hole in the bottom pan, then I just used a shop vac and it worked amazing!! I only drilled a 1/2" hole, My syrup sat in there for 10 minutes without going through, and once I put the shop vac over the hole in the bottom tank it pulled through in seconds!!

    This is the fastest maple syrup vaccum filter I've seen so far! It's pretty cool! Thank you for sharing! 👍

    Hey guys. Awesome idea. The only problem I see is that your filter was wet which you don’t want. You don’t want any moisture when bottling syrup. At least if you’re selling. Possibly of mild

    I use a vacuum cleaner, about -4 inch HG and it's doing the job just great, less trouble and faster job, just plug in the vacuum hose on the filter and thats it, just pour in the syrup.....I've filtered 5 gallons of syrup in 20 second.......

    Thanks for posting I’m wondering if you know about how big of a vacuum pump you would need to skip the air tank

    Have you changed your smoke detector battery yet?
    How much can you filter before changing the polyester sheet? I noticed you did a small amount but maybe that was just for demonstration.

    Velcro the filter onto the bottom pot. That way your filter wont fall in when you remove the top pot.

    @TheTriangle4  Před 5 lety +1

    Ha, you're not the first to mention the smoke detector, funny what you get used to. So anyway this was a demo, at 180 degrees we filter 5 gallons at a time. Hope this helps.

      I kept looking around during the video, trying to figure out if that was my smoke detector, or if it was in the video....lol

      Ricky Fink our detectors are also hard wired, so if there really is a fire, the alarms would work.

      How do you prevent the vacuum from sucking the top pot in so far you cannot release it?

    I like it but why can't you use just the vacuum pump and no tank

    we filter hemp oil tinctures from a small buchner filter for vapes but i would like to make hemp oil syrups too and filter them like this! good video! so let me get this straight.... the small vacuum pump vacuums the air out of the big air tank and once you open up the valve it releases air from the air tank that was vacuumed and how do you know wen the small vacuum pump has vacuumed all the air of the bigger tank? i suppose if you bought a vacuum pump the size of that air tank it would cost a lot of money? i sometimes use silk screen mesh to filter out stuff and i double layer it. Also have you thought about putting a magnet on all 4 sides of your polyester felt filter so that you can do it alone if you do not have a person to help you? can you send me a spec list of what you bought to make this happen if you do not mind? thank you for your time!

    we did the same thing using a 5.5hp shopvac, we used a felt much like your setup but we used 3 layers and a microfibre cloth. vacuum was working hard but went through nicely. we added diamataceous earth to the syrup before filtering. the finished product came out cloudy and still had sediment that appeared 24hrs later. how did you male yours so clear??

  • @savagesugarbushmaplesyrup9242

    I’ve made one of these and have been trying a 2hp shop vac with maple filter aide DE and without and it’s just not pulling it through

    Great idea! Thanks for sharing! I'm wondering if, instead of drawing a vacuum on the bottom, it would also work to pressurize the top pot? The lower pot would still need a hole in the side near the top to release the pressure. You'd have to put a lid or plate or something to cover the top to the upper pot in order to build pressure. If it worked, a regular air compressor could be used (which most people already have).

      Matt Schwartz that is an interesting idea. If you try it, let us know how it works out! 🙌

      the only problem with that would be venting the bottom vessel. so vacuum makes the most sense.

    Can the vacuum pump be hooked directly to the bottom pan instead of using the air tank?

    • @TheTriangle4
      @TheTriangle4  Před 6 lety +1

      Pamela Pinto I haven't tried it but the pump we have is likely too small to hook directly. The purpose of the tank is to compensate for a small pump.

    • @trippw88
      @trippw88 Před 6 lety +1

      You really need the air tank to build up a quick rush of vacuum, the pump is pretty slow and you need a burst of vacuum, I just used a shop vac over the hole last night and it worked perfectly, no need to buy the pump and tank..

    Question please: is The pluid not in to tank suction?

    • @americanhoes1652
      @americanhoes1652 Před 5 lety +1

      Cepianto Cepi as long as the liquid doesn’t go above the vacuum spout it won’t enter the tank.
