    I loved your "I set it, but I couldn't forget it" comment. That is so me with anything I put in my ronco rotisserie. It is so calming to watch it work. I often wonder how I got along without it. Thank you for a great video!

      We joke about it being the best "show" to watch, especially for my border collie and his chonky cat buddy who can't take their eyes off that chicken.
      They know they're going to get some!

    I just got one of these babies at a thrift store yesterday, looking forward to trying it out. I don't have a working oven, except for a toaster oven. I live kind of primitive, with solar panels and batteries, but as long as the sun is out it's enough power to run things like this and breadmakers.
    I got a free Christmas turkey that is too large for this, so I'm going to cut it up and cook just the breast portion (after brining it) in this rotisserie, and do the same with the legs and thighs.
    I'm so lucky I found this thing! My other alternative was to cook it in a big pressure cooker I use for canning and making home-made dog food, but that won't produce the crispy skin like this will. I always put butter under the turkey skin, so along with brining it makes the turkey moist and delicious.
    I think it may be the best Christmas turkey yet, and it won't take 3 hours to cook! Thanks to Ron Popeil and my local thrift store!
    Thanks for your clear instructions on using it. Very helpful since it didn't come with instructions.

    Rick season your rotisserie foods like your chicken while on the spit rods before you put it into the Ronco rotisserie oven. It is easier that way:).

    You’re a character, Rick! (KnowwhatImeanVern)… I just found one of those in a dumpster recently that works. I just tested it out a few minutes ago. Only thing wrong with it is that it’s missing the handle on the left side of the glass, and no owners manual, but I could probably get that online if I want it. But the drip tray, grate cover, and basket are all there. This must’ve been in somebody’s garage for a while because it is surprisingly clean. People are wasteful in our huge apartment complex. Only difference is yours is a newer digital model. Whereas mine has the older analog timer. BTW, I subbed, belled, liked, and commented just now.

    Safe internal temp for chicken is 165, I like to just hit this. Remember as your chicken sits the temp will keep rising. The legs/wings will be about 10 degrees higher temp than your breast meat.

    • @RickMammana
      @RickMammana  Před 6 lety

    Don't ever wash chicken. If it had salmonella you are not cleaning it you are just spreading it all over your kitchen. If it had salmonella it dies when cooked properly so just make sure you fully cook your food properly.

      _"Don't ever wash chicken."_
      This is dumb advice. Washing chicken washes off not just bacteria, but also the toxins they produce. Unless you swing your chicken around like a lasso to dry it off, I don't see how you're spreading anything. Also, you can wash your counter.
