  • How to burnish Louis Vuitton leather edges on 2007 preowned Neverfull PM straps. Louis Vuitton leather edges usually have a distinct red dyed edge. After a few years it does darken and may sometimes start to fray from wear and tear. To prevent the straps from deteriorating it's important to repair the edges. BURNISHING is the easiest way to restore the leather and force all the leather fibers back together. You will need a substance like TOKONOLE and a wood slicker to create friction to compact the edges. The process is very simple and easy.

I bought a Palermo pm on fashionphile a few days ago and applied the tokonole on all the edges and I used a wooden toothpick to apply it meticulously on them. I also used a headlamp to illuminate the piece I’m working on and make it easier to saturate and cover everything with tokonole. Hope this helps someone!❤

Hi Ash thank you so much for these videos it has helped me so much. I also bought a Neverfull MM bought on 2015 and it looked exactly like yours in terms of its condition. Super oily dark handles and slight rubbing marks on the leather around the bag. So my question is what kind of tape is that you’re using. I had paper type tape at home and i used it to hold the little hardware in the middle when i was washing the interior but it left a very sticky residue. I need one that dont do that.

Ash, do you complete all steps consecutively? Or you split them in days? What do you recommend? Also, would you recommend using the water repellent on the neverfull vachetta?
Thank you!!!!! So glad I came upon your videos!

Thanks for the questions Yesenia. Of course I was filming and editing the entire process, so it was done after a few weeks.
But I tend to separate the days, so I can give the leather enough time with each product. So one day is for cleaning/basic cleaning...I let it dry overnight. Next day is for conditioning and then I reapply if necessary the next day also. Another day is saved for burnishing. Another day for cleaning the lining....so forth. So if I had to work on it w/o stopping it would take me about a week to fully restore the bag.
Good luck on your bag and let me know how it turns out!
