It still works but in a different way. Once you color the first fold only drag the first folder to your doc and open it, then copy and paste it on the icon in get more info :D.

Marks Woodside's comments are EXCELLENT for achieving the desired color changes; however, greater experimentation with the "Adjust Color" tool is required to get saturated colors. This may be done by using the 3 'slide' controls immediately underneath the color window display at the top of the App. These slides can be moved PAST each other which will result in some VERY interesting colors; they will also allow you to produce any saturated color ALONG with using the other controls of EXPOSURE,CONTRAST, SATURATION TEMPERATURE, and TINT. The SEPIA control has a tendency to "muddy" the achieved color although the results it achieves might be desirable for some application(s). I was able to create one folder which is a "Fire Engine Red", and another which is a "Kelly Green" by the method described. Another folder was made completely Black for assorted deleted items - all that's required is experimentation with the listed controls until you achieve a desirable result. If you get completely lost in your efforts, you can ALWAYS click on "RESET ALL", at the bottom of the 'Adjust Color' tool to start all over. May these comments help you achieve your desired results!

it works on high sierra. saw a comment by Lui Court and tried it, it works.
Just make sure you select copy the image on the right (not the one in left sidebar) (drag and select, it'll come out as dotted lines) and copy it (⌘C) and paste it (⌘V) as per instruction and that's it.

I was having the same difficulty. This worked when I did this.... After you adjust your color, the top folder on the left will be the color you want. Drag that folder into the desktop area, then click and open what you just dragged into the desktop. The colored folder should pop up in preview, just one folder. Then Edit/Copy that, and then you should be able to Edit/Paste in the folder you want to change. Right click the folder you want to change, then 'Get Info', then click the little folder and Edit/Paste. Should work that way.

I was able to get the colours: yellow, orange and red. I did this by adjusting the outer dials on the graph, such as moving the left outer dial to the right side. Just muck around with it and you can get any colour you want. I hope this helps.

When I go to Edit, Copy from the little folder in "get info", it says "copy 53 items". You said it didn't matter, it doesn't have to be a new folder, but I don't want to copy 53 items. Every video uses a newly created folder, never a preexisting one with files in it. Why?

It didn’t work for me either.
But this did… go to a search engine
      1) Type in “Image of red desktop folder” (Or whatever color you want).
      2) Choose a desktop folder image that is a png image with no background (obviously use one that is not copyrighted).
      3) Drag it to your desktop, then double click on it.
      5) Go to Edit/Copy then close it.
      6) Then double click on the folder that you would like to change on your desktop.
      7) Go to File/Get Info
      8) Highlight Folder in Get Info in left hand corner.
      9) Go to Edit/Paste
      10) That’s it.

this doesn't work on high sierra
SOLUTION! : heres what i did.
Follow all his steps up-to the point where he says to delete it. DONT.
click save as... Name it whatever... no tags... Where: desktop (so you can find it easily)
    AND THIS IS IMPORTANT:
FORMAT: PNG. Switch it from ICNS to PNG!
Now one image of a colored folder will be saved on your desktop.
OPEN this image and do command c after clicking on preview (so hover your mouse on the colored folder and click on it) so it knows what you're copying.
Now you can follow his steps and do command v on the little icon in "Get Info"
BASICALLY: you have to save the folder as png as it won't recognise other types.
unimportant but cool: I'm guessing this way you can also do images and little symbol images as long as their saved as png! thats cute. Wish apple made this easier though!
