    🌍 Hello World! My name is Ihor.
    This is my channel where I share my experiences, ideas, reviews and tutorials related to Electronic Music Production. I focus mostly on Techno and House music. In my Studio on my Music Production Desk you will find a variety of different gear like: digital and analog synth, eurorack modular, drum machine, sampler, effect, mixer, guitar pedal, MIDI controller. Also software: DAW, Ableton, VST, plugins.
    I am myself an engineer and I am quite obsessed with the Music Technology and Sound Design. I like making music without a computer. I like playing Electronic Music Live with my Minimal Dawless Setup. I love Eurorack Modular Techno and always keen to talk about the modular workflow.
    I strongly believe that nothing can be better than a good Dawless Techno Jam!
    I watched all the Techno Tutorials on CZcams! (I think)
    📺 Thanks for watching! And have fun!
    ✌️ Peace.

    Melody is half rhythm, half harmony, inter-dependently. Polymeters are a way to introduce interesting or at least non-boring rhythmic structure. Actual harmonic changes ("chord changes") are missing from this stuff here, but the rhythm part makes up for it. The devices offer several tools for managing rhythmic structures, but very little or nothing at all for managing harmonic structures.

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  Před 2 lety +11

      "Actual harmonic changes are missing from this". Yes. 100% yes. Managing harmonic structures is tough. I need to take it one step further before call it a track. Thanks for great and beautiful explanation. I really really like it.

    • @jgoney
      @jgoney Před 2 lety +1

      @@IhorMedia I'm wondering, could you try routing one of the mod tracks (divided down) to transpose your sequence? You could have your sequence evolve with chord changes that way if you wanted to. I don't have a Metropolix, but from what I'd read I think that should be possible. I'm also not really sure how idiomatic those kind of chord changes are in techno.

    • @cryptout
      @cryptout Před rokem +2

      Which is more that enough for a good Techno track.

    • @doverbeachxyz
      @doverbeachxyz Před rokem +2

      That's simply not true. You can tune the oscillator to different notes and modulate the internal quantizer to different scales to achieve chord changes. Last but not Least: Techno Is All about micromovements in sounds, noise and rytmh...not about harmony

    • @yzimsx
      @yzimsx Před rokem +1

      @@doverbeachxyz @DoverBeach Of course you can do chord changes if you want. But coordinating changes across sequences on multiple devices is difficult, particularly live. If you have, say, even just two note sequences playing, and you suddenly decide to change the implied chord from Cm7 to Bb6, what exactly do you do, and how many seconds does it take to do that? How many bars has the song played in that time? There is an Eurorack module called ACL Sinfonion that enables something like that, but it's quite rarely seen, for obvious reasons. :)

This is a really nice and simple idea for using those control knobs. Paired with Tetrapad/Tete, and one control into Tiptop Z-Dsp and the other into Beads or Aurora, this could go into complete madness. Really looking forward to getting started with Metropolix.

    Sounds great! Although I’m not sure if a 16 beat loop and a 4 beat loop are Polymetric.
    Change your arp to 3 and leave bassline at 16 then you have polymeter.

      Hey Lucas! I might not clearly explained this in this video. The arp loop was 6 steps (or pulses) long and the bassline 16. Which is polymetric.
      I think confusion comes from the Metropolix terms: stages and pulses. Yes I did have 4 stages on the arp. First 2 stages had 1 pulse each, and 2 last stages had 2 pulses each. This makes it 6 pulses in total. Pulse is kinda step. Or clock pulse. Hope that makes more sense now.

    First time viewer and new subscriber. Good video! Rather too close to Ricky Tinez’s formula, but good content nevertheless. Keep developing your style and growing your channel, Igor!

      Ricky inspires me a lot and was the one who inspired me to create my own channel. Thank you Sapio for your kind words! Much appreciate you! And welcome on board.

    This makes me feel like I need a second voice in my mini modular setup!
    I'm wondering if you could do a polymeter with steppy and mimetic digitales...

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  Před 2 lety

      Probably yes, you can. It is going to be a little tricky with pitch sequence. Tho steppy can do polymetric stuff indeed!

      @@IhorMedia Yea I guess the main challenge with pitch is that MD only has one "play head" :(

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  Před 2 lety

      @@kookiespace exactly this. However you could try, for example, bassline to play one note and use mimetic for a lead sound. And steppy does polymetric stuff. This will work!
