    A very nice car. I've been thinking about getting one for my wife. She's had an Astra G 2003 2.2 convertible from a year old. Still only 71500 miles on the clock. It's been a great car and one of the few true four seat convertibles. We needed four seats for the children when they were young and in booster seats, with their legs straight out in front of them.
    Nowadays, it's just my wife or I that drives it. It's fully loaded, but the paintwork is looking a little tired. When you have a car like that, what's the point in getting rid of it, unless you are going to get something a little special. A Boxster seems just the ticket.

    I got my 02 plate with 97k mls for £2800 as it was a trade-in through a mate's garage, I expected it to be ropey but it was very good, even had virtually new Michelin pilot sports on very clean wheels. Spent £2200 with a Porsche independent getting it up to spec with coil packs, new AC condensers, brake lines and a new water pump being the main issues, but now it's a great little car and stands me at £5K knowing everything is done. From the bits I did myself, get the impression these were very well built which I think helps the longevity, massive bang for the buck as a summer fun car.

    That car is a bargain, even if it was a very early 2.5, but you bagged a 2.7. Although it would be nice to sell the car with the hard top, I expect it would just be a novelty and won’t effect the price. Id sell it separately, they fetch anything from 800 x 1000, so the car in theory would only really cost you 1200.

    Original wheels similar to the 993 turbo wheels, possibly what your confusing them for. Also that oil on the engine is usually the crank seal. Coil packs usual go brittle and crack, exhaust heat Shields always corrode and end up either falling off or getting ripped off because the rattling is unbearable also tensioner pulleys go quite often. Just a few things to check over in future, I did my apprenticeship at a Porsche specialist lol great little cars though.

  • @musoseven8218
    @musoseven8218 Před 3 lety +3

    I'm pretty sure that they are early Boxter wheels. They don't do the car any favours in silver. As the body style has gone on for years it might be worth trading them for a later set? Although they look better with cleaning and polished wheel nuts. The calipers look better too, maybe better painted? I'd say that odd tyres on that sort of car/bhp is iffy, they need replacing. Otherwise it looks like - as you did - a spit and polish the profit in job. The next owner/enthusiast can spend just a few £s and bring the car right up to scratch again. Won't be long until Boxsters of that era start climbing in price.

      Yes, I’ve never seen a 2.7 with the 4 spoke steering wheel, and I e looked at 100,s 0-60 in 6.9 so sports car where as the 3.2 is Porsche performance .. 2.7 would do me though ..

    Another interesting video but not sure you did enough to this car, given Chris's attention to detail. Surely an oil and filter change, fresh fuel, attend to the advisories and try to source the missing bits would have been more in keeping with your usual practice. The paintwork and a polish would have been worthwhile, just a bit too hasty me thinks.

      Totally agree. It all sounded a bit rushed which i presume is to get it gone before winter fully sets in.
      If i was the buyer I'd want that laquer peel done as part of the deal I'm afraid - so you might have been better off waiting until Friday for the end result and then selling it.

    I see that it’s already been said but the wheels are the standard ones found on that era Boxster and 911. A good tip; replace the wheels with a newer Porsche style and the whole car will look much younger.

    If it's been sat for a while it can take a few miles or 10 - 20 mins for the buckets to fill with oil, best to sit around 1500-1800rpm above tickover
