    Running the river in my brand new Suzuki 140 hp outboard on my Excel Bay Pro 203!
    In this video I am showing my Excel Bay Pro's Suzuki outboard in action! I am still in the break in period of the outboard although I am in the phase of being able to use any RPM. It is a very smooth and quiet outboard for its size. Hopefully this will last me a very long time on this new boat! My dealership added a 4 blade prop to the boat which makes it cruise around 35 mph at 5000 RPM. It does get a little wild at top end however I have been able to hit 42 mph whenever I get the porpoising under control. The Excel Bay Pro 203 is an excellent match for this outboard!

    First thing first A 3 bladed prop will be festher. Personally myself. I would drop down to 12-21-3 ,check full Throttle r p m . If your r p m is too high go to 12-23-3. Raise your jackplate until you're. Cavitational plate is above water when you are on plane and trimmed out. My setup is 150 e-tech with 12-23-3 hitting 58 mph. My boat could be lighter than your boat. But I think there's more left as far as speed in your boat. Hope this helps

    Usually 4 blade will give you more bite while taking off and also will help low speed planning. It will slow you down at top speed. Also in reverse the 4 blade will suck compared to a 3 blade.

    Bought a new Suzuki a few years ago. The dealer forgot to tell me about the alarm and when it went off I panicked. The alarm is to alert you to change the oil.
    I’ve had 3 or 4 Merc’s, a Johnson and a couple of Evinrudes. I think the Suzuki is the best.

    looks like a good crappie boat. You don't have much draft. My boat gets blown around from the wind too easy. I've been thinking of getting a low profile boat but everything is so crazy right now. Ideally i would buy a crappie boat but not sell this one, and keep it for catfish and carp fishing and dirty waters, and keep a crappie boat for lakes only. But thats my dreams : )

      I don't know how much the bay boat weighed. It was a 2023 Excel Bay Pro 203. Its only 68 inches wide and 20 foot long but has a very thick hull in comparison to others of its size. The best I can say it was lighter than a Sea Ark ProCat 200.

  • @mr.gadgetfishing2134
    @mr.gadgetfishing2134 Před 2 lety +1

    You had the motor too low in the water. You need to raise it some with the jack plate and add some trim to the motor to lift the front some. 4 Blade is a good prop to use has better lift and bite. I have run them on all my aluminum boats. Just work with the trim and jack plate or have someone run it that has used that type of set up to show you.

    • @TNRVG
      @TNRVG  Před 2 lety

      I will look into that. I don’t know anyone with this boat. I did post this video on the Excel boat owners group for feedback too. Thanks

    • @mr.gadgetfishing2134
      @mr.gadgetfishing2134 Před 2 lety

      @@TNRVG Motor height and Trim is a general thing. You do not want to lug the motor, if the MFG calls for 6000rpm you need to be able to hit that. That is where the top HP curve is for the motor. Say 5800 to 6000 rpm. If not able to run that you are lugging the motor if the Max RPM is 5500 or less.
      You can use a yard stick and place that on the bottom of the plate on the motor it should be about even to 1" up from the bottom of the boat. Trim also helps if you trim up some and it will lift the front more. You only want the back 25% or 40% in the water when full speed. If the front is cutting then it will Plow and slow the boat also changing the top speed.
