    It is fascinating seeing how museums with smaller shop facilities perform these cosmetic restorations because this isn't like a car that you can easily just blow apart down to every nut and bolt and component. Keep up the good work!

    Hi Mike, I just saw this video and now I want to see your previous videos as well as keep up with what you are doing. This is a sharp looking engine when it’s in the finished stage. Keep up the great work.

    I really appreciate your videos. It's very interesting to see the details of the restoration and your descriptions are nice and clear. I'd love to get back to the museum someday.

    Thank you for everything you do at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania! I’ll continue to watch these videos and not skip ads, so that more money goes to the museum.

    I hope you guys choose one locomotive for a full mechanical restoration like 6755. You’ll need FMW Solutions to help strengthen the firebox area for the firebox just like 1361 is having done to its firebox. Besides it would be nice to see a 4-8-2 run again.

    Love watching your videos Mike its cool to see static rebuilds having parts working again like the ashpan etc its a massive job getting a loco restored just as a nice static display let along back to full working order I guess if you give these engines a good going over it may make it easier in the future if the museum decides to return some or one of these engines to operating condition. I'd love to see a video of the whole workshop you work in I live down in New Zealand so I'm not sure when I'll make it to veiw all your gear at the museum cheers for the videos keep up the good work cheers Cody

    We’re currently working a similar restoration of LIRR 35 here at OBRM, we’re all very much enjoying the series! Just about finished with cosmetic restoration of our smokebox, with just the headlight to be installed.
    Will be interested to see how you approach the rusted out area at the bottom of the B6 smokebox, im wondering if you’ll also be mechanically repairing the water scoop on the L1 like you’ve done on the ash pan mechanism? Godspeed and keep up the good work!

      35 is coming out fantastically, I’m happy that we will have a complete locomotive at least on LI!

    • @mikesmetalfab
      @mikesmetalfab  Před 6 měsíci +1

      You and me both! There is a lot of work down there to be done! The L1 scoop was actually cut off before it was retired. Everything is still there except for the scoop itself. That is something we will have to discuss when it comes into the shop.

    Any idea of if the museum were to pick one locomotive to restore to operation which would it be? Update on the roundhouse if you can too please! Thanks!

    Hey Mike, I'm so glad to see the B6 again and that ash pan mechanism is sick! My question is will it become something we as guests of the museum can use? As in open and close kind of deal. Because I think more interactivity with the locomotives could be a better way to engage with really anyone. I understand of course maintenance could pose an issue, so I could see why not. But it'd be really cool to see in person working.
    Now as for what video I'd like to see is a QNA as you mentioned. I personally have visited the railroad museum almost every year of my life and I have lots of questions. Especially since the roundhouse will be an upcoming thing I think it'd be a great way to help us to have a better understanding of your guys plans.
    So I hope this is helpful in any way, and I can't wait to hear more! I hope you have a fantastic day and I hope for a response :)

    • @mikesmetalfab
      @mikesmetalfab  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That is a good point I didn't think of. I would have to talk to the staff at the museum to see what they think. Often times we have a recording of something working. Having hundreds of guests operate the same thing over and over again really takes a toll on the equipment. Something that would be moved a couple times a day at most is now being operated hundreds of times. Thank you for your continued support!
