  • This was a fun overnight trip. The main purpose was to get outside and for some conditioning for bigger trips this spring and summer. At the end of the video I go over the map and route.

    The map overview was a nice touch. Thanks for walking through that.

    I've hike much of the route that you took in this video. The locals call that cabin "Roadkill Cafe". If you look through the doorway, the back wall has a Roadkill menu.
    The location where you camped out once had a very large bear which hung out. But I never saw any traces of it after the wildfire that came through. At the time of this filming there were two bears which hung out at the bottom of the Judge Davis trail. I managed to get trail cam photos of one of them.
    That area offers challenging hikes as well as wildlife - when they chose to show themselves.
    This video was enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your hike.

      I’m glad you liked it. They are easy to do so I will try to include them in future videos if people find them useful.

    Nice quick recap of a good hiking area. For those considering it be warned that a LOT of vehicles get broken into parked overnight at the trailheads all along 20.

      Yeah I was concerned about that. There are some access points off of 16 which is probably a little less traveled.

    I’ve always been intrigued by that trail whenever I drive past the trailhead. to be honest I’m pretty disappointed. the rest of the landscape to the west in that region is so much more scenic and interesting

    Great video! The scenery doesn't look like "California". Thoroughly enjoyed this!! 👍

    Great video, I've backpacked there a few times - and we had a similar experience on one trip a few hours following a game trail through 6 foot tall brush only to have the trail peter out and have to backtrack back up through the brush lol.

    What month did you go camping? We are planning February and a bit concerned it the water level if we will cross it.

    • @BurleyOutdoors
      @BurleyOutdoors  Před 2 lety

      January of 2021. But that was a very low water year. Search around and find the BLM district and call them. That river is controlled by a dam. Can’t remember the name of the dam. Ask them the name of the dam and max flow levels for crossing that river. Then search around and you can find day by day flow rates on the dam which will help with trip planning.
