1JZ NON VVTI Top Feed Injector upgrade & VVTI vs NON intake Manifold differences.

  • Recently I bought a SARD top fee injector fuel rail & discovered it didn’t fit my NON VVTi manifold…. But there was a hack.
    You can replace the lower intake manifold runners with VVTI lower intake manifold runners & it all bolts up.
    You can just buy NON VVTi fuel rails. But if you make the mistake I did, you’re not at a loss.
    Also how to use GTE intake manifold on 1JZGE & 2JZGE.

      I bought mine used, well actually they were free as I bought a wiring loom off a guy & he said I could have them. My WRX is running JECS 850cc off eBay as many others have & they havnt had any issues.

    Do you have your old lower runners and fuel rail? Interested in buying. I have a VVTI motor, so Top feed from the factory, and am trying to run some Supra 550CC side feed injectors.

      I’ve got a spare non VVTi lower manifold, don’t think I have the fuel rail etc though. I’d have to check. I havnt done the top feed conversion yet though

    • @Fine_Performance
      @Fine_Performance  Před rokem

      Nah, you remove the injector port section also & so generally you run the plenum with a matching top feed fuel rail & top feed injectors.

      @@waeleldanbouky6920 no idea man. My car is not a factory JZX90. It’s a custom build. Maybe find out what a similar issue might be for JZX100. You can also pull the codes from the diagnostic box by bridging 2 wires, but again I’m not sure how to do that as I don’t have a factory diagnostic box.

    • @Fine_Performance
      @Fine_Performance  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah, injector rail is held on by 3 bolts. Might be tricky to get to & I havnt done it myself, but I don’t see why you couldn’t. I’m only taking mine out cos I have to replace the lower NON VVTi manifold piece for the VVTi one.

    Most people just use the 1jz vvti runners and factory rail

    • @Fine_Performance
      @Fine_Performance  Před rokem

      A lot of people I’ve seen use an aftermarket rail. In fact I havnt seen many using the factory rail. Many aftermarket rails I’ve seen also have twin entry at either end & a centre exit to aid with even flow for all injectors. I hadn’t realised you could use the lower vvti manifold half on non vvti until now.

    • @Fine_Performance
      @Fine_Performance  Před měsícem

      @@AngelFlores-ix6cm VVTi has torque 500rpm early because of the variable intake cam (VVTi). But I reckon the NON VVTi sounds best due to the port design. Also I think VVTi has 9:1 compression pistons so better off throttle response, whereas NON VVTi is 8.5:1.

      @Fine_Performance  Před měsícem

      @@AngelFlores-ix6cm yeah, so that’s what my engine is. I just removed the twin turbos & fitted a single turbo & manifold. The twin turbos are good, you just have to watch not running too much boost as they have ceramic coated exhaust wheels. You can get usdm “steel wheel” twins, that can run more boost. Just do a bit of reading. You’ve bought a great engine!

    Is the N/A 1jz GE none vvti pistons and rods strong for boost?

    • @Fine_Performance
      @Fine_Performance  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, same rods & crank as GTE. Pistons are a bit weaker in the ringland, but the crowns are thick. People have gone to 600HP easy on a stock bottom end. It’s same as a 2JZGE essentially

      @@Fine_Performance thank you very much, I'm getting a JZX90 Toyota Mark II with that engine, now that I know it can handle some good boost, do you think it will be a good idea to swap the head for a 2jzge vvti head?

    • @Fine_Performance
      @Fine_Performance  Před rokem

      @@kemarrance8755 tbh I wouldn’t bother. If you can get a GTE head, yes. Because it’s easier to buy used manifolds etc. But everything for 2JGE bolts onto 1JGE. Look up 2JZ NA-T. To put a decent amount of boost in, you’ll want E85. I think stock you can run 6-9psi on regular fuel. But I’m no expert on NA-T. I asked about putting GTE pistons in as then it would be a GTE bottom end. But guys just said run the GE pistons. If I were to put GTE pistons I’d run GTE head with GTE headgasket as the compression ratio would then be correct. That’s one thing you need to work out is the final compression ratio if you’re changing heads, pistons & headgaskets.
