Good analogy with the keyboard short cut….& the A7Rv providing functionality that just makes things you do regularly faster & more convenient.
Another very important aspect of the A7SIII is the faster read out speed. This drastically improves rolling shutter.
After this last month of using both for Wedding Videography. I’ve noticed that the a7siii Looks Way better straight out of camera

Great video, thanks! I have the A7R4 and the A7S3 and was considering selling both for the A7R5. The main thing that's pushing me is the 8k video. The ability to crop in and get a little extra length (APS-C mode) is so great. Also, on the A7S3 I believe when you shoot 120p it crops 10% of the frame at 4k.
The 8k on the A7RV is horrible if you plan on vlogging or just moving the camera a lot. The only thing i can think of off the top of my head would be scenarios where the camera is on a tripod or something of that sort focusing on a somewhat still subject like interviews/podcasts etc. sure it works fine but you must be mindful on what you plan on using 8k on the A7RV especially since it only offers it in 24p. I still plan on getting it even tho im more of a hybrid shooter. The video capabilities seem great for the most part for what i plan to shoot.

It’s only a 1.5x crop not 1.6 which is Canon’s crop. Also, even in crop mode still provides 26mp which is higher than most competitors in general. You can also just shoot in Medium size and not crop so the flexibility is awesome.
Isn't it 1.5 crop giving 30mp. The medium raw will give you the same field of view but your file size will be smaller.

nice comparison! I just tried the a1 for a few weeks and loved it. however im interested to see if the A7RV rolling shutter will be as bad as it has been claimed in comparison. looks like the a1 is a bit below the A7RV when it comes to AF, but better in every other area!
If you know about Sony R series are good for photo ! S series are good for video! And A1 needs to be redo! And Sony sure will integrate latest Ai into it off course
I sold my a7Siii and bought A7IV, because I need the extra mpx but... men, I don't now if buy it again JAJAJA and work with these 2 cameras together... the non crop at 60 or even 120... made my life so easy at weddings films
I agree. I used the A7RV for 4 wedding films as my A cam but then switched back to the A7SIII. The images looks better and for some reason it feels easier to use for video.

the Sony A7R5 does not have dual native ISO capability, but it has a feature called Multi-Frame NR that can help to improve image quality in low-light conditions, and also has a feature called "ISO Automatic Minimum SS" that can help to reduce noise in low light situations

Nice! How does the crop mode compare to the digital zoom on the a7s3?
You lose out on the full AF system when in Clear image zoom. APSC mode reduces size of the sensor being captured but still full quality. The clear image zoom technically reduces image quality but typical Sony magic, does an incredible job and it may not be a big enough difference you’ll notice.
But ultimately, the APSC mode “should” be better quality than Clear image zoom. Guess it should be tested

Great video. What's a hybrid shooter? Here's a question for you. Would it be possible to get the "look" you have in the opening of the video where you're in the shot in your office? (Great lighting and soft background!) Specifically, it would be great to have that quality when on company conference calls.
Hybrid means you take photos and videos. Lighting is really everything. I would study 3 point lighting on CZcams

I just picked up the A7RV myself. Highly capable camera. I just switched from Canon. Question, there are 3 different file formats for 4k. Which do you use or which is best for full frame 24fps to get the cleanest shot? Thanks man! Great video
Every codec at this cameras looks like the same so... always XACV S 4K 4:2:2 10 Bit
XACV HS - compressed, smaller file sizes
XACV S - Easier to edit than HS unless your computer has decoders for H.265 (HS). Standard format for the past Sony cameras
XACV SI - best quality, largest file sizes, best with fast moving scenes (other formats use pixel binning I believe)
I'm a video maker who does ads for tiktok, and most, if not all of it is fairly well lit, but i switched from a an A7IV.
i feel like i got tricked by the store tbh, as i told them i needed an upgrade on the A7IV for video.
so far it feels pretty nice looking, but I'm also still a noob lol. wondering if i should go back and exchange for the SIII
lol yeah. A7siii is much better for video. It looks more crisp. Slog feels less grainy. I prefer it for anything video

Question: do you shoot log for a wedding, I don't shoot log was hoping to shoot straight out of camera.
I use s log 3. But Cine tone is fine! Also pp off works too
A7s3 was much better in shadows. 🤔 I am watching phone screen. Have to watch again in computer.

Great video and analysis, learned something new, thanks for that, but I was just wondering why would they ever make one camera with all these features bundled into one when people would buy two of their cameras, more sales for them, unless they feel threatened by a competitor that bundles these type of features into one, only then they might release a single camera that does everything I guess, right now that competitor doesn't exist I think
I’m not sure. I think it’s just an engineering problem. Less megapixels make for a better video image it seems. So finding a balance is hard.
Would the A7RV disable the full brillant AI assisted AF when using digital clear image in video ?
I am mainly doing video work and everything makes me lean toward the A7SIII which we own along FX cameras but that full AFC disabled when using Digital Clear Image zoom annoys me when wanting to shoot wildlife. Thanks 🙏
Sony first started allowing full AF tracking while using CIZ in the ZV-E1 and then 6700. Presumably because it needs the AI chip. It’s something we hope they can bring as an update to the R5 which I agree, makes a huge difference.

If you are just interested in 4K video, I would go with the a7S III. With 12.9 MP, it is 4K without all that downraezng that would be required with the a7R V and its 61MP sensor. A frame of 4K uses 8MP. The a7R V has 61MP. You don't need that for any video. The a7R V camera is more a hybrid. It is a photo camera that does video. The a7 S III is a video camera that does photos.
Yesterday I was filming a wedding and I noticed the S Cine tone looked way better on the A7siii. I feel like the A7R v looks a little muddy straight out of camera. But that’s just for Video when I use it for photography it’s the GOAT

Yeah, I did the simple test in my office. I honestly didn’t notice that much of a difference but maybe my project settings we’re off
