I used to be mad after Semmangudi concerts, especially with Lalgudi, MSG and TNK and on mridangam Yesteryear greats and present greats. Mesmerising.

3 hours and 30 minutes ..what a concert..what an energy filled with enthusiasm. Sriranjini, Mukhari, Kharaharapriya, Thodi, Varali and Shanmugapriya all under one roof ...The Neravals and swaras bore the special mark Semmangudi Mama ..Lalgudi sir and Sankaran sir what an understanding and respect to Semmangudi Mama is very much evident. So Divine and Bliss....
The songs sung in this cd are wonderful and worth hearing again them and again and gives immense pleasure to all who hear. Divine. Chemmangudi Sri Srinivasa Ayyar lived in our life-time and words are inadequate to praise his singing abilities. Beautiful selection of songs. - “Mandakolathur Subramanian.”

What a wonderful concert. All of Sri Semmangudi's all time hits in one concert. Each and every song has the SSI stamp, steeped in raga bhaava with progressive rendition of sangathis. And appropriately placed neraval and swara passages. Great listening and learning experience!

What a great concert. Ahaaa.. every song gets better than the previous. Nice thing is all the songs are fairly well known to the average listener. The marubalka crescendo at the anupallavi is an unique experience. The accompaniment was of the highest order, highest. Masters of their respective art. Thank you sir.
So true and sankaran mamas majestic playing is always a treat to rasikas ears especially his misra nadai sollu in anupallavi or charanam is always a bliss and mamas right left balance and the ghumki, sarvalaghu is a bliss one can keep listening to sankaran mama everyday and the enthusiasm to listen will always be the same :)
lalgudi 's accompaniment is absolutely melodious.Trichy sankaran is also very supportive.Semmangudi inspired these vidwans to be at their best!

shrIkAnta nIyeDa is a classic of the Semmangudi school. There is a wonderful recording I cannot find of SSI-LS-UKS with this item. Very distinct from this rendering, Mama in a different mood each time but brilliant in both! I've also heard Sri TMT render this with sowkhyam.
