Devil Fruits are dreams and the ocean crushes those dreams. The other Devil Fruits weakness to the sea is a result of Imu’s oppressive control.

I'd say blackbeard has the earth god fruit, as whitebeard's Tremor fruit fits good as a mithical zoan hiding as a paramecia, just as Luffy's. That would also explain why blackbeard was so interested to even show up at a battlefield for it.
In the manga, theres a panel of all the elders and imu in thier transformations, and we also have all of thier names now, and it looked like they all have mythical zoans, or atleast zoan, since they were all in animal like transformations, imus was a dragon like looking thing, or a serpent.
