I'm looking to get into warcy and think these guys might make a good starter warband, thanks for the great overview video.
Many thanks 😀
FYI all; updated damage numbers for the Greataxe: 3+ 5.5, 4+ 4.5, 5+ 3.5, PPW = 32.38. It doesn't change my ideas and analysis on the axe vs the other weapons though. I think I'm going to need to slim down the spreadsheet im using; looks like the 10k+ entries with calculations are grinding out my PC and introducing all sorts of delays :)
Been hyped for this video to see how they play, and thus what interesting proxies I can field from my Stormcast (as allies and a warband)
Apart from the lion cloaks, they are all pretty generic sculpts imo, so it's unlikely anyone will mind proxying them :)
Great video as always
Glad you enjoyed
Very nice. Went for the grandaxe over the hammer cause I liked the look 😅 now I have them built and primed and will be going for it.
haha, in truth there isn't much in it unless you wanted to go super optimised
For objective missions- how about leaning heavily into Starblood Stalkers for bodies? Kixi-Taka boosts move+toughness, we've got lot of shooting/critfishing to put a dent into very tough slow warbands and Duelists to efficiently clean up chaff. Grand hammer because i wanted some reliable S6 damage source. Xepic is for points, grabs treasures and runs for his life maybe ?
165 Lord Relictor
165 Errant-Questor w/grandhammer
160 Errant-Questor Duelist
160 Errant-Questor Duelist
125 Kixi-Taka
65 Xepic
80 Tok
80 Otopatl
I like that idea actually. I've been using quite a bit of the Starblood Stalkers recently and they are all pretty solid fighters.
Awesome, thank you so much for this! I decided to go Prime, Relictor, 2x Duellists, 2x Hammers (mainly because I think they look cool and for symmetricality lol). New to warcry so I'm glad you can't go *too* wrong with this set?
I like it very much; both the soulsworn and beastflayers bring something interesting to the table AND their respective GA's for ally purposes (and totally not mentioning that as a skink player the realmshaper engine gives some pretty awesome abilities to my fighters XD)
The list you described is exactly how I would build them. I’m most excited for the Dual duelists. That gives us great chaff clearing. Their triple also lets them tie up a group of chaff. All around a great fighter in the rumble pack.
Nice video and analysis. I have a nitpick though, damage stats for grandaxe seem to be off, it has the same profile as grandspear but in your data it deals more damage.
so the maths is right.. if the grandaxe were statted in the same way as a blade, which it is in my sourcefile, but not on the cards. I think I'm going to need to slim down the spreadsheet im using; looks like the 10k+ entries with calculations are grinding out my PC and introducing all sorts of delays. Thanks for the spot though :)
Awesome video!! Is there a reason you don’t take the prime? Is she just outclassed by the errant questors?
The Questors can do everything that the prime can do with the benefit of having the free attack when moving into two or more fighters on a double; personally I rate that more highly as an anti horde tool then the 3 damage triple but its just my preference.
pre-release comment to build hype ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Gotta being that THUNDER!
Hello! Great video! Does the box come with helmets for everyone?🙈
Yes it looks like it does from the sprues :)
Hey, I was wondering if you might know where one could get the official data on the Questor Soulsworn. I ask this, because I just downloaded all the compendiums, and I did not see these fighters included in the list of possible factions to pick from, nor the individual data cards for the specific fighters that come in the kit.
Officially they come in the book and on the cards that are packaged in the nightmare quest box. Unofficially you can find all their stats and abilities Iver on warcrier.net
Any advice for a list made out of the dominion box? Just getting into warcry and I am looking into making a team out of the stormcast eternal from there!
So the Dominion Box comes with the following:
1x Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear
1x Lord-Imperatant
1x Gryph-hound
1x Knight-Vexillor with Banner of Apotheosis
3x Praetors
1x Knight-Arcanum
3x Annihilators
10x Vindictors
Both Vindictors and Annihilators are very good for their points so I would look to go with something like this straight out of the box;
Lord Imperatant
Annihilator Prime (the leader of the Annihilators)
3x Vindictors
1x Annihilator
The numbers are a little hard to juggle at 1000 points with just the stuff in the box but this comes to 960 points and offers a solid core of Vindictors, and extreme damage from the Annihilator and Annihilator Prime along with the very strong utility ability Coordinated Strike from the Lord Imperatant.
Sadly you cant build from one box without Grandaxe and Questor-Prime, you have to decide who you have to pick from them :/
Guess it will be axe anyway, Questor-Prime stats look a bit worse despite her(his?) cool visual model.
I am curious if you have anything more to say about the Questor Prime. Obviously you cover them in their own section but when you get to the list building section you don't even mention them and they don't appear in your sample lists. Is it simply the case that their AOE ability doesn't compensate enough for their mediocre attack damage output? I was thinking that against the many warbands that will outnumber the Soulsworn the option of doing some chip damage to a lot of targets might be useful, but I presume you think differently - and I imagine you have more authority on this matter than I do!
The basic Questors can do pretty much everything that the Prime can do with the benefit of having the free attack when moving into two or more fighters on a double; personally I rate that more highly as an anti horde tool then the 3 damage triple but its just my preference.
A move -> free attack -> attack probably is more likely to knock out one or even two fighters then just an attack -> triple for 3 imo.
@@OffMetaMusings thanks for explaining your thinking for this. 🙂
I think you may have made a maths error on the damage comparison between the grand blade and grand axe. I’m not sure how you calculated but the grand blade should be doing more damage (6.67 from the blade vs 5.5 from the axe on 3+). If I have missed something I am happy to stand corrected
so the maths is right.. if the grandaxe were statted in the same way as a blade, which it is in my sourcefile, but not on the cards. I think I'm going to need to slim down the spreadsheet im using; looks like the 10k+ entries with calculations are grinding out my PC and introducing all sorts of delays. Thanks for the spot though :)
Where are you getting the rules for Calthia Xandire? I can't seem to find them.
They were in a previous White Dwarf but you can find them over on warcrier.net
Coming in really late, but can they use their reaction if they have already fully activated in that turn? So i move and attack with a questor duelist, then my oponnent kills that duelist. May they use the reaction still despite having activated twice?
Unfortunately not. They are still bound by the normal reaction rules. What you can do though is use divine blessings to give them a free reaction; in which case, yes you can use 2 actions and then react
@@OffMetaMusings thank you!
@@edwardmills4164 you're welcome :)
The only flaw I see in the build-from-one-box section is that the Relictor and Grandblade are either/or constructions. So you can't build two Grandblades /and/ a Relictor from one box. Probably not hard to kitbash though.
That's very true. Though I do think that you just make the Relictor and convert the grandblade - it shouldn't be too hard to cut the blade at the hilt and then pin it to one of the other hands.
I'm using starbloods, Kroxigor and Questor lol so I can be a dickhead and teleport around if kixi can't get me close enough.
The grandhammer values look wrong. It is strength 6, so it should do the same damage against T3/4/5.
Maybe I'm reading the table wrong...
The table isn't vs toughness, it's the damage when wounding on a 3+, 4+ and a 5+. The numbers are then weighted by the expectation that you'll actually have to use those values against opponents (with the assumption that 25% of fighters will be t3, 50% are t4 and 25% are t5+). The s6 skewes the final numbers more in favour of the wound on a 3+ damage for the hammer because most of the time it will be wounding on a 3+ :)
@@OffMetaMusings I see, but why display those numbers on a table as values on the same column are not directly comparable?
A strength 6 attack is 3+ for T3/T4/T5, so the other column are irrelevant on the weighted average. This is not the same for lower strength attack profiles.
It isn't really about directly comparing sword vs hammer vs spear vs whatever's stats wounding on a 3+/4+/5+. Sometimes you come up against annihilators who you only wound on a 4/5+ and sometimes it's skeletons being wounded on a 3+. It's a point of reference. Average damage is there as a quick glance metric to tell what fighter does more damage overall, and points per wound the same for damage efficiency
I've just jumped on to the Warcry bandwagon, having a hard time squeezing Calthia into a 6 man Soulsworn warband since she is 210pts 😂
I would go something like Calthia, 4x Soulsworn and the new Kharadron Overlords Codewrite for 6x fighters.
Where a the official rules for this ? I looked in the warhammer-community and if I'm not blind they are not there...
Questor Soulsworn came in the Nightmare quest big box or later on in their own standalone box. You can find their rules in either of those two boxes or over on warcrier.net
