🇨🇭 okay this left me shocked since the first listen. I didn’t know if I hated it or if I absolutely loved it but now I can finally realise that this is SOOO good, especially with headphones, it’s a whole experience and I’m loving how switzerland sent an entry like this. the mix of rap & opera, the bridge, this chorus, no words. nemo seems to be so talented and I just hope they’ll bring an amazing show and get an amazing result for switzerland!! this can either go even better on live or go on the opposite way

Im pretty proud what joost made. The kast couple of years felt like we wanted to do arcade 2.0 but now we have something that screams dutch. Although the song is mixed with people i think it can grow on them.

Everyone has their favorite, but in the big picture Italy looks like the most clear, cohesive, well-made entry. Yes, the songs of Croatia and Estonia are fun, and the songs of Cyprus and Malta are danceable. However, against the background of Italy, everything is losing out🤷🏻♂️

This song is special because it reminds me of ODESZA (my favorite artists)
It has everything: good vocals, diversity of style, beautiful atmosphere, meaningful message, very good production.
I'm sure that this will be my favorite song of ESC24.
2- Norway 🇳🇴 (8.4)
I don't usually listen to rock music, but this song hypnotized me from the beginning.
The tradition, the sounds, the voice, the atmosphere, the energy and the production are mesmerizing!! I totally live for this unique music.
3- Croatia 🇭🇷 (8.1)
What's going on with rock music this year? This genre is not my cup of tea but this one is crazy!
I love the contrast between the energetic mood of the song and the very sad and melancholic lyrics.
Also I love the techno twist at the end.
This year I'll absolutely support Croatia because it deserves to be high or win.

I love strange and artistic songs, especially if they are experimental like this, so finally I can say that Ireland made a good choice...

This song is a vibe.
It's danceable, but atmospheric.
It's fun, but hypnotic.
Very good song that stands out.
6- Slovenia 🇸🇮 (7.5)
I like the progression of the song and the atmosphere that it creates. It's epic and quite memorable.
7- Estonia 🇪🇪 (7.4)
It's funny and brilliant.
Love the traditional instrument, the originality and the iconic dance.
The difference between this and the finnish song is that this one is more original and authentic (and I feel they don't want to be forcefully funny)
I'm just a little dubious about the live performance which is too chaotic.
8- Italy 🇮🇹 (7.3)
I'm Italian and I usually don't like Italian music because our music scene is far, far away from what I listen to.
This song, however, has something more.
Perhaps it's her way of performing cause the song itself is not among the things that I normally listen to, but it's the first time that I placed an Italian song above 7/10.
I like the authenticity and its neapolitan/latin gypsy vibe, so it's a good song, but being far from my tastes, I don't feel like giving it more points.
9- Austria 🇦🇹 (7.2)
It's a funny and joyful song, a little bit dated but still good and pleasant to listen to.
I don't have so much things to say about it, it's good, fine.
10- Switzerland 🇨🇭 (6.8)
Drum&bass, opera, pop and rap?? Ok, that's interesting.
I like the progression of the song, it's not repetitive and boring to listen to.
The epic/operatic elements are good but, in general, the song isn't enough for me.
11- Moldova 🇲🇩 (6.7)
Good drums, good ethnic elements, good melody but it misses something in the chorus imho (especially in the last one)
I feel that it's empty, and the way she performes this song is not so captivating.
Despite this, the song is quite good.
12- Belgium 🇧🇪 (6.6)
Decent song.
I like the atmosphere and the choirs, but I think it takes too long to get to the point.
It does not have a balanced evolution.
For my tastes, it's not outstanding and it doesn't have anything unique.
It stays in the middle.

It's a safe and generic song.
I'm struggling with the chorus because it isn't so strong like the verses.
While listening to it, I feel it's a little repetitive.

Radio-Friendly song, nothing extraordinary but not bad.

It's a pop song that will do well just because of the probable dance break in the live performance.
It's one of those songs that seem to me to be the repetition of things I've already heard before a thousand times.

It's without doubt a catchy song, but for me, it's nothing unique (a part of the last part of the chorus), so it's a bit basic for me.

It's not something that reaches my attention.
I think it will be a last place contender and I'm so sorry for Germany because it deserves more than this...

Another song that I heard a thousand times before.
It has nothing unique and memorable, just a song that passes away, and that doesn't attract me.
Very forgettable imho.
19- San Marino 🇸🇲 (5.8)
I don't like this type of music but I have to say that there's some elements that differ from the classic rock songs.
It's electronic, and in the bridge there is a dubstep switch with that spanish guitar that makes the song more unique.
Unfortunately, I like only that part of the song because the rest is inoffensive and not outstanding... the melody is not captivating and different from other rock songs.
20- Czechia 🇨🇿 (5.6)
I don't know what to say about it because I always forget about it's existance; this means that it is a song that I don't care about... sorry.
21- France 🇨🇵 (5.5)
It's a classic ballad, same as millions of other songs... nothing special for me.
He has a very good and strong voice but in certain parts I find it too loud and exaggerated.
It will stand out and will be high in the final because, so far, there are no other ballads in the competition, but for my tastes it's a big MEH.
22- Malta 🇲🇹 (5.4)
Generic pop song... I can't connect with it in any possible way.
23- Finland 🇫🇮 (5.0)
One word: Cringe
it sounds like a cartoon song.
They want to be funny, but I don't laugh while watching or listening to it.

It's vocally poor and musically dated for my taste of music, despite it having a strong and good message... but the message, alone, doesn't save this song from being poor because it misses the rest of the package.

The thing is: The Käärijä effect is so clear this year with so many songs going outside the box (🇨🇭🇮🇪) and aiming at the televote (🇳🇱🇫🇮🇭🇷) that I can't help but think they are going to cancel each other out.
That said, about today... Yeah Switzerland outsold everything hands down, straight into my top5. I'm disappointed with The Netherlands, although I like that it's in dutch but I think people hyped it WAY too much, the chorus loses me. As for Cyprus... Well it's what we expected. Overall, a solid day

After the first line of The Code I immediately, and I mean immediately, thought about Jann's Gladiator from last year (Welcome to the party rather than Welcome to the show). The praised combination of rap and opera is something that Jann did last year as well, so for me it is 'just' an imitation (copy my homework but change it a bit) of Gladiator even though it could end up high in my ranking eventually. But because I am still salty we never got the chance to see Gladiator in Liverpool I don't like the song that much.
Joost's song is underwhelming given its meaning in the last couple of seconds. He could have done so much more with the concept he had in mind but gave us instead a superficial appraisal of the Schengen Area. I highly doubt this is going to be the heir to Insieme: 1992.
Cyprus is not my cup of tea but good enough for enough people to have a chance at qualifying.
