Haha I love this comment so much! If he really doesn’t get SOTY then it no longer means anything. I was thinking SOTD(ecade) but generation is more suitable he’s been on SOTY level for over a decade. Dude has pushed others to go crazy too like Jamie Foy. Foy has the handrail skill just not the insane variate Nyjah has down them. Dude did a switch fs blunt on a huge 20 set rail! It’s easily the gnarliest part to ever drop. We’ll have to see how he recovers from that knee surgery but I hope next year he can start right back at his current skill level.

idk. every part from him seems so soulless. like he's so so good at skating but it's so clinical. it's almost like it's too clean. the cops in the footage in the last part threw me too. I guess it's just that, just because someone can monster any rail of any size, doesn't automatically make them the best. the style, the origin, the thinking, the direction behind the footage. that's what makes it for me

@toast thank you. I can't stand super wide angle rectilinear lenses. I think they distort in a way that's way more distracting than fisheye to me, and the follow filming from far away with a steady cam just doesn't look good as far as I'm concerned. I thought a whole bunch of stuff in both of Nyjah's parts were filmed horribly, and I used to be a full-time filmer back in the day so I've seen a lot of different styles of filming in my life and I think that video isn't that good at all (filming wise of course). Only one trick of both parts really stood out as amazing filming and that was that mellow ramp white hubba Nyjah did the front nose pop up to fakie nosegrind. That was original filming that worked. The rest? Not so much.
Nyjah is the DiCaprio of skateboarding. Took way longer than it should have but he got his Oscar. It’s time. SOTY.

bro nyjah is just a fucking machine. i remember growing up and thinking there's no way anyone ever gets better, or has better style than p rod (pj ladd hadnt really hit the scene, ryan gallant was hardflippin everything). but it seems like everyone stepped their game up so much since the 2000's, and nyjah is just on his own level. not just the complexity of the tricks, and the cleanliness of the tricks, but he's taking that shit to the most gnarly spots possible. and the boy takes his licks like heith kirchart. it's like nyjah is max stats everywhere except maybe vert and mega ramp? bet he kills that shit too if he wanted
