Despite no-one in Middle Earth having the capability to cast the ring into Mount Doom because of the ring's power within it's own forge (even Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel, etc... would have been unable to do so) it should be noted how resistant Gimli was to outside corruption, and how true his heart was. He was one of the only members to fully resist the words of Saruman when he was conversing from the top of his tower. Many of the Rohirim found themselves becoming charmed by the charisma and mystic words of Saruman and Gimli openly told him to kick rocks which broke Saruman's mask, and in turn broke the charm he was weaving over them. Also, after Gandalf fell in Moria Aragorn had the backup plan of guiding Frodo to Mordor with only himself, Frodo and Gimli (yes, meaning that plan did not involve taking Borimir or Legolas). The fact that Aragorn trusted Gimli the most out of the Fellowship to resist the urges of the ring should show his unyielding will. Gimli was truly a hard MF and a total real one frfr.
If you love him in the movies then I gotta tell you, book Gimli is on a whole different level. If you don't wanna read the whole trilogy then this video is great: czcams.com/video/qNQg49ZML6o/video.html
Well, even though Sam couldn't carry the ring himself, he did do everything to help Frodo destroy it and he succeeded. Cause without Sam, Frodo would've failed. And I think that if Gimli would've carried it himself, he would've not been able to do it either. Because the power gets more powerful the longer you carry it and Gimli never carried it, so that's why he was able to try destroying it.
I was just thinking about dragon sickness and how it takes time to take hold of a heart. Maybe Gimli would grow obsessed with the perfectly made golden ring after carrying it for a while. Dragon sickness seems to run in the blood of some dwarves.
@@lukeroberson2115 If Gimli carried the burden instead of Frodo it wouldn't have gotten destroyed. I fully believe Gimli wouldn't have let Gollum follow him into mount doom: which would result in Gimli taking it for himself. Of course he would have journeyed better, literally anyone in the fellowship besides the hobbits would, but he would not have completed the quest. It was Frodo and Sam's good heart that led to Sauron's Doom. But ringbearer theories aren't that important after all since Frodo accomplished his mission :)
While this is partially true gimli never had any major exposure to the ring(never wore it) and didn't have any reason not to. Still a fun video though.

How did I, in all my yearly LOTR rewatches, never notice that!? I love him even more now đđ

Haha, I never actually thought about that. Very cool!

Wow. Thats a whole new look very cool!
That's awesome! Never thought of that
You go Gimli â€â€â€
If Gimli wore the ring as long as Frodo he wouldn't have destroyed it either. He had not worn it and wasn't corrupted by it when trying to destroy it.
Gimli would have handled the journey itself better. But you are correct that he couldn't destroy it. Tolkien himself said no one could.

@@ellasflover That's what I'm saying. Gimli would have had an easier journey than the Hobbits, but he also would've failed at the end.

Youâre absolutely right. More of a joke than a serious critique.
What about Elrond?
Did Gimli just destroyed the Ring???
czcams.com/video/sUrJdsN_-B0/video.html
Elrond easily could've stolen it from Isilidur or force him to destroy it
But whereâs the fun in that? âIsildur!!!â
Elrond knew Isildur would fight to death for it
