It Was TOUGH To Fix This SELF CUT Undercut Haircut (Disconnected Undercut with Fade)

- This may need a Part 2, so that Dan can get it perfect. Comment below if you want to see it!
Ziqi and his friend had given a self cut during lockdown, but he wanted his usual undercut haircut with a fade. However, after a long consultation with Dan, he discovered a few problems with achieving this. Dan worked a disconnected undercut with a fade and medium length hair on top to work with what Ziqi currently had.

Who wants to see a Part 2 to see Dan try to get it "perfect" for Ziqi?
Meeeee
Me!!!
Drop it
No need to ask!
Definitely
how funny would it be if Dan said "I got a solution mate, it's called a buzzcut"
This is gold
Ready for bootcamp
đđđ
Him wanting to work it out and trying to figure it out shows he cares
We'll get Ziqi back for a part 2 aswell to see if Dan execute on his initial vision
It would be great to see that, he's an out of this world barber
@@RegalGentlemanHi Dan, I am growing my hair out, I started from an under cut, clean 1 on sides from parting, am I on the right track or should I have started from a skin fade, can an undercut be connected later? Thanks đ
man i really wish i had this guy as a barber, would of saved me from ALOT of embarrassing haircuts đ
They charge 100 dollars on this for sure lol, can't expect a good ass haircut from cheap barbers
@@JoShiestyy worst part is we go to expensive barbers and still get shitty haircuts
@@JoShiestyy they charge ÂŁ80, but itâs free if the client agrees to be on camera. Pretty nice deal of you ask me đ€Ł
Me too. Love his work n knowledge and skills
@@mushiim8 is that actually true ? lol
The only other option this guy had is âcome back in 6 months, and donât touch it, mate!â. lol
The guy knew exactly what he wanted. He was asking for a âtwo blockâ haircut, usually styled parted and hanging down like a comma. Really popular among Chinese and Korean men. His friend actually did a pretty good job. The sides are usually cut rounded off and never shorter than a number 2. Dan doesnât seem familiar with Asian hairstyles so there was miscommunication.
i wouldnt say miscommunication, id say Dan is kind of a barber who always goes for a perfection(according to sections, square shapes, over all look-final look-dats why he always asks to take of mask to see clients face) and he loves to do natural looks, and he explained every move he does and why he does that. if his client would disagree im pretty sure he would say that, but Dan is experienced skilled barber and i would trust him if he would want to do anything on my head. - sorry for my english if there is something difficult to understand im not nativ speaker nor learning english.
There was def a miscommunication there. He totally was going for that two block style and his friend did a good job in maintaining the section in which works for the hair style. Your analysis is def spot on and yah Dan definitely isn't familiar with the style. The client should've gone to an asian salon if he wanted the particular style instead of expecting a barber like Dan who specializes more in western hairstyles to figure out what he wanted.
he already did it before in this video i think two block and a very good one too. side cant be too short, if not it will be disconected haircut.
czcams.com/video/V1KoT2nVgeU/video.html
Two-block originated in England (the dandy haircut) and it is a classical haircut popular among both races.
It needs to be cut with precision with clear u-shape and angles and all. Otherwise it is a real pain to fix it. A self cut might look good when styled but it takes a lot of effort to make the hair behave.
@@imaznviet definitely not a good job. main problem was that there wasn't proper sectioning between the top and sides, so going to any barber is just asking them to carry on the mistake of a bad sectioning. from what dan said, the left and right sides aren't equally high as well, making the hair styled up look awkward. the drop at the back was also way too low. also, the sides were shaven off too much. it mightve worked if the client wanted to wear his hair down to prevent proofyness, but he wants to style it up, the length on top is way too long and having no length on the sides will just cause the top of the hair to lay flat with no volume. source im a korean with a 2 block haircut for years. of course im by no means a hairstylist, but many of what the client expected was what i wanted at the beginning and ive learnt more about my hair over trial and error.
Been a barber myself it is hard trying to explain to a client how a cut their dead set on wonât work with their current hair Dan absolutely smashes it as per and makes sure the cut is as close to the clients request as possible đ„đ„
Ik what hairstyle he wants he wants the two block side part like kpop artists or kdrama actors
20:35 The name of the hairstyle is a Two Block Cut (with the 3/7 parting on top like the client wanted). In simple terms, it's essentially an undercut with medium length textured or layered bowl cut on top. In recent years, it was popularized in South Korea from male actors and K-pop artists. Asian hair is stiff and grows outwards like a porcupine so the Two Block Cut actually helps to mask that problem. The client went to a hairstylist who specialized in European/Western Hairstyles when he should have went to one that specialized in Asian hairstyles.
he already did it before in this video i think two block and a very good one too. side cant be too short, if not it will be disconected haircut.
czcams.com/video/V1KoT2nVgeU/video.html
You typed a paragraph to try show off knowledge but ended off with absolute nonsense. Any good barber is thought how to cut any type of hair, as seen in this video mate đ
The dilemma that he talks about here isnât the Two block cut itself (although he doesnât seem to know what it is). He is saying that it hasnât been cut very well. Basically itâs too high and not straight parted.
My mum cuts my hair lol and mine is also too high and not straight. Iâm working on it.
@@eoindenniston2611 Well itâs about speciality. I have barber friends and they have experience cutting Asian Hair too. However, if you are looking for a very pleasing finish, then you should go to the appropriate barber. Like if you have African hair and you want braids or dreads, you would definitely go to an African Hairdresser. Same goes for Asian hair.
Iâm fairly certain the two block originated in England. The problem was it was totally uneven.
Later than usual today, but we're back with Thursday (7pm) and Sunday (6pm) uploads with Dan every single week!
YESSSSSSS!!!!
No idea why this popped up in my timeline, but it's so relaxing and therapeutic to watch!!!
I hope the professional hair dresser that corrects all the mess I've created during lock down on my hubby's hair is as involved as you are.
oh well its hard to get a korean 2 block cut in the western. Barbers here won't know how to cut it
i dont think he knows how to style it too...
No, youre the who doesn't understand cuz youre always on the customer's pov
the client has beautiful hair , and the style is stunning on him.
Such a good video Dan, your consultation and haircut fix was perfect. Love learning from you đ
I love how you're realistic with your clients from the start when they have a certain expectation that isn't always possible. I also understand the struggle when for the client it's as simple as "just run a no. 1 all the way up" or "my friend did it this way so just do that" but as the professional you know that's not the way to go for so many reasons. You strike a great balance of giving the customer what they want but also giving a technically "correct" haircut. Amazing job on this one Dan! You impress me more and more every video!
Great videos. Can't wait for part 2.
Regal Genius. Earned your crust in that haircut. Top man Dan.
Loved the initial consultation in this one
Incredible fix. I wouldâve been so happy to get a haircut by Dan. Honestly a really good take on the 3:7 ratio cut
Ladies, l'm sure you will agree. Us girls could do with a few Dan's in our salons. Just love his skills and personality â€
This guy could get a perm to retain the volume of what heâs after and have the style he desires, especially because Asian hair is coarse, straight, spiky and stubbly to retain the style and its silhouette.
Dan is an amazing Barber , I love all the comments saying I wish my Barber was like Dan but they donât want to pay the money for this kind of service. This is easily an hour long appointment which you would have to pay between 40 and 50 quid for in most top Barber shops . Keep up the great work Dan đđâïž.
The nice thing about this is his age
His hair will grow back!
Definitely! Experiment while you have it
I would shave it All to one length and let it grow. Looks So much better than an undercut
@@VaclavSverkos asian hair tends to grow stiffly. it wouldn't look good when its in that awkward phase.
@@dazein1624 yea its true it wont look good if you buzz it all then grow it with the same length unlike caucasian hairs. tbh i wish i had a caucasian hair lol
@@RegalGentleman that's actually why i now take estrogen, so that i don't lose it
He didn't seem that happy haha but that's what ya get when you shave an undercut to a number 1 at the top of the head hahaha
True, should not shave the side man hahaha and nothing the barber can do to fix that, he can only do what the best depends on the customer current hair situation
What a turnaround! Top job per usual. Keen to see the follow up too.
I think thereâs some misunderstandings in this video, so let me try to hopefully explain it to you guys.
The guy was requesting a a haircut which I believe was a description of a â2-block haricutâ. This type of haircut is very popular in Asia, South Korea specifically, and it is basically an undercut, but with a more unique style. I donât think Dan was very familiarized with the type of haircut he described, thatâs why the client was trying to be more specific in detail. However, if you search up some videos on the â2-block haircutâ, it is quite more simple than you think.
not really, he wanted it brushed back behind his ears while a two-block is essentially a bowl shape with the fringe hanging over your forehead
@@bulldowg3 Well, there isnât really one style of a 2-block haircut, what it really means is just an undercut. Your hair can be long, medium, even short, and what it essentially does is it brings down the hair on the top to the sides, pressing down on the short hairs under it. This sort of movement allows Asian hair to look more âflatâ on the sides, which we struggle with.
@@bulldowg3 2 block has nothing to do with the fridge
2 block can be done with side parts or like an undercut like kdrama actors I want that hair but don't know if anyone can get this done đđ
@@masked1238 You know, Iâm something of a barber myself đđ
Love this man knowledge, skills, and work.
The poor guy must regret that lockdown trim so much đ
Lesson learned for that kid: Leave complicated things in the hands of a professional.
Complicated? I shave my back and sides myself. It is actually pretty simple without transition
I go as high as my eyebrows.
On a first, second or third sight you won't see anything wrong, unless you gaze really close so I don't think his self cut was as bad
Exception to the rule, I had a hair stylist completely shave my back to just beyond the crown, when I went in for a low trim/fade of my bob hairstyle. It was bad, (its been 23 days.) I thought maybe he was rocking the clippers but, he did not have a guide on it. He did the sides too, way up. Despite having pulled my hair up, I think he just shaved right into it. He did it so really fast, 30 seconds maybe, he went so fast. I stopped him when I looked up and saw. Anyhow, this is how I found out about fades and barbers. I am going to an awesome barbershop locally in Arizona now, while I grow out. Man, the stylist really did a number on me. Sure I got a refund but, wows. He did so much worse than a self cut and it is crazy.
The western professional didnt get what the client wanted thats why he looks pissed. Always go to same race hairdresser
This is an awesome video and a true reflection on what can come into the barbershop/salon everyday
Good work Regal, i love you Man !!!
Very well handled, not an easy cut to achieve based on what was already there. Top cut as always
It takes someone who REALLY knows hair to fix the problem this guy had. And Dan REALLY knows how to cut hair, not only how to fix a bad cut but what will ultimately look best on his customers. Amazing!
I herd dan charges ÂŁ80 a cut now when u think I charge ÂŁ20 I can now see why he charges ÂŁ80 Loool heâs a master of his craft especially with the scissors he just understands hair in every aspect
great job as always Dan.
See how the client made it his own at the end.
honestly dan's cut was SUCH an improvement why did he seem so disappointed đ„ș

Dan is so amazing that he was able to get the client to trust him. The end result is impressive and it will get better now that the lock down mess up is now corrected.
Client comes across quite rude. End of the day his mate screwed his hair up, and he wanted length which he couldn't have. Fussy bugger
Yes way too fussy. Awful style on him anyway. Looks like a wig on a shaved head

@@codeine_ninja yes!!! Big bouffant hair!
Client didn't have the right attitude, he came in with a really bad haircut and expected Dan to fix it completely, what he has in mind will require months of fixing to get to the point he wanted giving his sides were so shorr.
Could we possibly see a videeo of Dan's haircut?
Clean result as usual. But, I'm not sure Dan and the client were connecting on what the client wanted. I think the client might be better suited heading to an Asian stylist/barber. I think it might be a cultural thing. I could be wrong.
No, his mate screwed his hair up and he couldn't have what he wanted. As the Dan said his hair couldn't support the weight and length.
To be fair, it was a hard foundation to start with given what Dan had to work with, not sure either party was 100% happy with the result but was the best that could have been done, laos the client could have easily chosen an Asian stylist if he wasn't comfortable with a non-Asian hairdresser too
I think the client want some kind of Japanese two blok hairstyle.. and that kind of hairstyle is not really common in western culture.. yeah, i got your point. Heading to asian hair salon maybe best..
Yes definitely. Cutting asian hair is slightly different than white hair, most of the time it is cut way too high. The problem is, most asian people have rounder and smaller heads than white people, so when a person who is used to cutting white hair, cuts asian hair, the hair parting is usually too high up which accentuates the round/egg shape of the head. That's why the two block haircut (most kpop idols have it) works so well on asian people
The client didnât exactly help Dan to understand what he wanted! When I have a client like that I exercise as much patience as possible but eventually you just have to do what you think is best.
Sick video đđ»
love these videos
I'm not a hairdresser. And a woman. But I found this fascinating and you are a very talented Barber/hairstylist!
What. A. Consultation. đ
One of the best so far!
And now a video on Dan's haircut in this video please? Looks amazing and exactly like what I was looking for
Wish there were more top quality barbers like you..
Iâve had known and had my hair all my life and know what looks good and fits well. But honest to god Iâd still trust this guy more with my hair than myself.
Well, Dan, you have cut a hair that is very common here in Latin America, because the "Native Americans" come from Asia, like this guy, and therefore have the same hair characteristics. It is a hard, thick hair, with irregular growth on the sides. Mixes with Europeans sometimes make it softer, but with lateral projections towards the temple, or directly projected forward. There are also frizzy, curly and hard ... uuff, difficult hairs.
Very nice haircut, well done đđđ
The Regal Gentleman certainly sounds confident. As a client you feel sure he will do what is best for you.
Looks really good nice
Great work ...đ sometime itâs very hard to make the client understand the situation . All n all it end well ..

I said the exact same thing Monday night, as a barber it is very frustrating when a client wants something they canât have because of a lockdown fuck upđ

Dan did pretty good, it does look like a two block cut if he wanted that style, the top is just a bit longer for my usual two block styles that I like but it's good.

Dan, youâre a genius, love watching your videos, your skills and techniques are out of this world
LOL sohaiiii don't expect a msia style undercut by a salon aunty at a premium place with such a amazing barber!!!! msia tk boleh after this man....
Damn this guy is too good, he already had so much to do and he was suggesting to do a 0 taper on the back, so he went the extra mile entirely just for the customer. Other barbers may have been too lazy and wonât care as much. Top barber đ„
I wish I have a barber like you. Sometimes they just don't know how to cut my hair, especially that I have a weird back head shape.
A lot of barbers forget the elegance of shear work and donât even take the time like this guy
I also do my own hair. Since corona and barbers went closed i was like yeahh i can do it myself. And it actually look good. Only the back is very difficult because you cant do scissor over comb etc etc. And cutting the back is very very challenging đ But it works. I always do a skinfade with longer hair on top.
The video starts at 11:00
Great job making sense of a disaster. He will be much better off in a few months when he can get a shape that works best for him. But what was done for him now will go a long way to achieve that!
guys a freaking artist.
Amazing
This guy totally destroys his hair and expects the Barber to perform miracles. As a barber I deal with this every time someone says yeah I been cutting my hair during quarantine đ€Šââïž
14:15 onwards was when he realised he should not have come . Regal u should learn the Korean 2 block cut because that was clearly what he was going for .
Itâs way too disconnected to do that
Didn't he cut it into a 2 block or am I tripping
Whats a korean 2 block cut ? Does it require a fade?
The ONLY thing Iâd say to fix in these videos is the client needs a mic too! Can never understand what theyâre saying. But awesome work!!
The main problem of his previous haircut is the hairshoe wasn't good. But thanks to this barber who makes it perfect
"It seems like there's a lot of complication." Did he just say he didn't like the cut ? đČ
What is up with the back part? It seems like someone axed his head and cut a good portion of his hair haha
He said that cuz of all the problems the barber kept bring out with his hair to get the clients desired look. The barber knew he couldn't give him what he wanted exactly but he did his best to accommodate to the clients needs. Sometimes you gotta let the customer know from the bat
Well the back section afterwards looks like an old-school barber's bodge to me. Okay, so there's supposed to be a marked difference between the actual hair and the undercut, but the ends have been kind of rounded-off which has created a bowl-like wedge. He needed to leave an extra 1/2 of an inch of length at the ends, surely? This client won't be coming back for a part 2 (which is probably a good thing for all of us, judging by the comments!)
A+++++++ Haircut!
We need more barbers like this. Discuss the gameplan first instead of just cuttin it then just show the mirror & ask is it good

4 minutes into watching this and the client is pissing me off, he hasnât a clue what actually wants and acheaving what he wants is not possible
I found the client annoying
Realistically, clients like this one are very common. They think they know what they want but they really don't understand what's reasonable. So even more props to Dan for being super professional and constantly checking with the client to see what he's okay with within the realm of possibility.
@@wesleysnipshair3048 I agree. They always want something radically different that their hair type can't even support. My biggest issue is when they insist on their parting no where near their natural parting

I only go to one hairdresser in my life, a Vietnamese haircutting god named Tai, no man can beat him, except that Brit maybe.
I have thick straight asian hair. Trust me when I say this, but If I had a barber like Dan I would not seek anyone else. It is really difficult to find someone who cares about the client and is not afraid to communicate on what can and canât work. There are many times in the past where I put my trust in a new barber, and they just follow my instructions to the T. Of course, it is no fault of their own, but since I have never experienced a good cut with my hair type, I typically just request something basic just so I can fix it up when I get home.
Home grown hair cuts were necessary for everyone except some elites. I think most people did a half assed job at trimming or cutting it at home. Credit should be given for those brave souls who attempted anything,
