Answers to frequently asked questions:
- I do not work for SSO.
- I get the spoilers through datamining (looking at the SSO files that the game installs on the PC) and modding of the game files.
- I used to do that manually with a hex editor, but I have now written my own program to help with the modding.
- That program is not (and will never be) available for the public.
- Modding/Datamining is not illegal, but it's technically agains SSO's Terms of Service.
- Just because there's a watermark in the videos does NOT mean you can just reupload the entire video to CZcams

A little more info about the global horse store:
It seems like they are going to put only a selection of horses in there. Not all of them. Also, from what I could see in the files, it looks like SSO first wants to test it with a small group of players (like 30%, gonna be selected randomly).
I personally think it's uneccessary, too, but let's wait and see how it turns out.
i feel like half the fun of buying a new horse is, well, actually going and seeing it. since sso only gives us a side rotation in the buying screen, its nice to see them in the open to get as many angles as possible.
i dont think they'll take them out of the world or anything tho. but yeah, totally unnecessary

I feel like the store would get more use when a new horse drops. There are a lot of servers that the areas where new horses are gets so packed at you can't see the horses and not a lot of people can get the E key to target where they want. If they had more functionality to it like global store for clothing then it might be a better thing... but new horse drops is the only reason I see a use for this
Hmm, maybe the global horse store is meant for non-star rider players and will have a rotating selection. That would explain why they'd consider it a necessary addition. Or perhaps it's just meant to offer easier access for younger/less experienced players and to facilitate impulse purchases. 🤷♀
Yeah I don't feel great about the global horse store. A global store makes sense for clothes and tack, but for horses...
It completely removes the excitement of getting to a new area and finding a different horse breed and the realism of seeing them in person.
I could get on board with it if they only got unlocked in the store when you've unlocked the area in game and interacted with them.
Otherwise it'll feel soulless to be able to "catalogue shop" horses like clothes.
From a business perspective it's them trying to make purchases as easily accessible as possible, but I don't like this.
It doesn't remove any excitement. You literally don't have to use it, ever. It's not going to affect you at all. Is it unnecessary? Yes. But so are y'alls comments complaining about it.

I'm genuinely so upset over this global horse store. Buying horses is such an iconic, unique and fun experience in sso. And nowadays, with nothing to do in the game, that's all that really excites me. I NEVER see anybody running around the world anymore, everybody is standing around in Steve's farm, and if they want to go somewhere, they just trailer. They have this whole world and nobody is in it anymore. It really impacts that sense of community when the game is essentially a chat room now. I will miss seeing the crowds of people around a new horse release in game :(
Exactly! world in sso is dead, it's so sad. No one even goes to the Jorvik City Plaza which was create for buying clothes! Every smaller locations are dead because you don't even have to go there to buy something, everything is in global store. All "fun" in this game is just standing on the Steve's Farm, because you don't even have to go anywhere to get something. I remember when places as New Hillcrest or Jarlaheim were full of people, now they are just empty... This game has no soul anymore...

No for real. They’re literally just sabotaging their own game. They ruin every good thing in sso and do these useless updates that no one cares about. They never listen to their players. I miss the old sso, this isn’t it anymore..
I don’t like the Gobal horse store like at all, I liked running around to the different areas so I could actually see what the horse looks like in the not buying acreen

The global horse store is just gonna ruin the fun of buying horses at this point. There won't be a need for all the stables around Jorvik selling horses. The only benefit this has is to make more room for more breeds which SSO can do by limiting the horse preview selection at each stable to 1 horse coat per breed. What a shame. This also looks like u can buy whatever horse at whatever level.

I think that cat with the vest, the dog with the bandanna, and the rooster are most likely camp western pets. they look like modified versions of atlas, that cat, and the chickens.
Those 2 unamed top and pants to me look like western stuff too. But I think it would be weird that they're preparing months in advance

I'm not gonna lie, all I did when I saw the global horse store was shrug and go 'ok I guess?' because I've learnt that most things that seem useless to me might not be useless to everyone else but man oh man was I wrong huh. I get it though, it breaks the game in so many ways HOWEVER I'm gonna be the devil's advocate here and raise a couple points.
When you're new, part of the fun of discovering or unlocking a new area is seeing what horses are available to buy there. This would possibly remove that though if they keep the level requirement there's still a 'you gotta work for it' aspect but it's...quite small. I saw some folks say that it could possibly overwhelm players to IMMEDIATELY buy a fancy new horse right as they start so they can feel like they fit in. I don't buy that argument so much, sorry, because again there's a little thing called a 'level requirement'. It might in fact be a lot easier for players to plan ahead what they want to save for, if they see there's Arabians in the game but they can't buy them yet because they're not at a high enough level it at least allows them to set a goal to save for. I know I would've wished this to be a thing when I just started.
Personally I think this should be more of a catalogue than a store, a place where you can see which breeds are in the game but not buy them. It lists their location and their price along with requirements such as level and reputation but there's no buy button of any kind. You'll STILL have to physically go to the horse to buy it. This allows players both to set a goal to save for and have the space to change their mind. But this is SSO, so who knows what they'll do LMAO.

When I first played the game, I knew about a horse I really would like to buy some day and I asked my friend where it is and how to buy it, so I had a plan about unlocking areas for it and etc. Now I can"t imagine this for new players cuz they always rearrange the horse breeds but I don't think this global horse store idea would be a much better solution. They already getting rid of old models and thanks to updates, placing only 2-3 of each horse bread can be enough since everybody can see more coat colors on the buying screen. So if they have more space on the map, why they have to rearrange the breeds every 2 weeks? And I feel like this global store is somehow a part of this attempt to don't have too much horses to buy on the map, eventually they gonna say that there's too many breeds and they have to put all of them into a global store so you have actually space on the map to play.
I don't know, maybe I'm too pessimistic about new things but I don't like this direction.
I think with the direction sso has been taking for the last few years, it's likely that they'll eventually remove the level requirements as well, since all they're doing is preventing (new) players from buying horses which is the only.. exciting? thing to do in the game at this point. (Yes, even for new players. The early main quest is broken & incoherent with the style and built on lore barely anyone, least of all sso, even still cares about. The only thing you can easily get into without much confusion is buying horses.) The level requirements are obviously there to add immersion and make it all the more rewarding to buy a horse after having worked towards that, but if we're being real here, sso already HAS removed almost all features that added immersion.

_Maybe_ it would have been better if they had a horse list on _Journal_ and where to buy them? Bc with all the horses moving it's annoying when u keep having to run/trailer around so that u find the horse ur looking for. Like a horse breed info booklet - Ik it's hard, but a shop where quite a few horses are available for imidiate purchase dosen't sound too great in my opinion. Hopefully sso keeps in mind that shopping sprees might get boring if the player is standing around and looking for horses in the GHS.

Not a huge fan of the new global horse store. Half the fun is going on a hunt to find the breed you're looking for. If you don't know where it is kept, you ask in chat or look it up.
Horse global store sucks. I like the idea of certain horses being accessible only after certain accomplishments. I don't understand what the devs have against exclusivity and rarity in this game its like they are trying so hard to make getting things not special.
They are and they aren't. It's why they're under investigation for tempting minors into buying currency for digital 'skins' essentially. SSO is creating a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) with things like tack bundles when you buy starcoins and they tend to plan these along with the release of a new horse. These offers are timed and create a sense of 'oh come on, you want to have the whole set on day one too don't you??' Even though that doesn't make it special. They have this very jaded idea that being able to buy something early with real money = exclusivity because the others have to grind for it. It's a very toxic mindset they're pushing on kids.
To them, exclusivity is how fast you can obtain anything that's new, that's what makes you special and exclusive, not how much you've worked on it. I hope this shift of players begging SSO to PLEASE let us work for stuff so it's more rewarding catches on more because I still remember people complaining about having to missions to obtain the Rune Runner, missions that give you Horse XP and quite a bit of it. Are they broken? Hyea, but in my 27 years on this earth it's the least of my problems in a videogame this big.

I'm ASSUMING SSO would still block players from being able to buy horses from areas they have not unlocked but I agree completely. They already killed the tiny map by making it possible to get most items in the game from a global store, including pets...but horses???

I think the main pro about the global horse shop is that non-sr will be able to buy more kinds of horses without having to rely on new releases and bazaars and events.

I don't like the idea of the global store, but i think it could be implemented as something different, like a search option for orse breeds and coats. That would help to see all avalible horses in the game without haveing to check them outside the game. It would be easier to compare different breeds or maybe also check where you can find each horse
we already have global store for clothes, but doing the same with horses would kill another thing that's been here since sso launched - riding to the right place to buy a horse and checking out newly added horses in person

I remember having to work hard to unlock jarleheim area so that I could buy the horses from there. Adding a global horse store defeats the purpose of that. Unless they’ve got certain requirements for them I’ll just have to see how it is when they release it

It feels like they want to wait until the last minute to reveal the horse coats in these events and batches (I wonder if they will start doing this with the main releases and magic horses).
As for the global horse store, it's not needed but at the same time since they won't give us a hide all option it kind of is useful for those crowded zones and folks not able to click on the horses or can get the e key to target where they want
Instead of doing global horse store I'd much more appriciate global with hairstyles and make ups...
You can see horses when you doing quests and pass by, you can more or less remember where they are

What I think about the global horse store is that you should be able to see the horse in-game, not just on the buying screen.
An idea for SSO could be to be able to try them out/ see them next to you or SOMETHING so you can see them and how they look in the environment.
Has there been anything about the American Saddlebreds? If not, do you have an idea as to when they might be in the files?

Unpopular opinion, but I actually like the idea of a global horse store. Yeah I like the excitement of running to go see a horse in person, but sometimes I don't want to run all over Jorvik just to find one breed because I couldn't remember where it is located. Really hoping some of those hair textures stay white! My character's lore is being one of the Dark Rider’s sister and white hair is a v important part of her lore.
