I got that bike in 85 when it first came out. She will easily stand up on the rear wheel and is capable of doing over 130mph. Mine was stock with a Vance and Hines pipe and I believe even back then with no mods that bike was 130-135hp. I would scrape the pegs on the tight corners and if you hit a small hump or incline like that which precedes a train track you can easily catch air. She was a beast, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Ah what a great video. Wondered what happened to that screamer ? I'm 62 yrs old and I've owned a 1980 GS1100e since 82. It's in mint shape and I have a Vance/Hines header on it. It's got just over 22K on it and is in the maroon color. When I drive around it around town it certainly turns heads as it always has. But the younger kids on their crotch rockets always think they can get the best of me. Most of the time I prove them wrong 😊
I'll never sale it no way. I've had numerous and generous offers over the years. What's crazy is I gave $2800 for it with just barely over 2800 miles on it. Found the right guy at the right time needing cash. You'll never see bikes made that way again. Love what you do with all the old school bikes Kaplan Cycles.
Love those air cooled 4 cylinder bikes I've owned a lot of them wish I never sold any of them , your work is outstanding keep up the good work 👍

This thing would even give the Vmax a run for it's money.
My dad had an 84 gs1150s full fairing back in 87 when he was in the navy. He had a Bigger sprocket in back and rejeted as well as a header. He then raced his buddys stock 1985 yamaha vmax back in 87 and won the race by barley. I currently ride That 1985 vmax as my first motorcycle and it has been an honor to ride one and learn from my mistakes on. He helped me pick it out and we fixed it up together. vmax has been rejeted with a nasty sounding kerker header as well. He took me to the back of an empty parking lot and taught me how to ride it. At first i was just idling slow around the parking lot and we went from there. The rest is now history. No other bike on the planet is comparable to the gs1150es.

I remember when the 1985 Suzuki GS1150ES arrives at our local bike shop for the first time; a blue one that I fell in love with. In '85, aside from the Honda Interceptors, the GS1150ES was a really sharp looking bike. Though, later it was reported that the stock front suspension had 'stiction' issues and it made cornering a bit hair-raising.

I heard of big bore Suzukis, but I have never seen anything like a bike like that. It is one of the most astounding sounding bikes I’ve ever heard, it re-emerged in line motors as being one of the best sounding bikes in the world to me

@@kendralhunt4296 when i start my bike at the track everyone knows it. I cant keep people away from taking pics and asking questions. Then ill run a 9.40 at 141mph in the quarter. Beating on them new bikes.😀

I had a friend (rest his soul) who loved drag racing at the track and had this same year/model that is in this video and he had a MR. Turbo kit on it with a vanes and hines pipe on it..it was nasty everytime he drag raced it it would blow the head gasket from way to much compression..i believe the fastest he ran it in a quarter mile was a 9.01 and that was when the motor blew...sweet bike..i will never forget it

That's what the mid 80's was all about! I would take this bike In a millisecond, before buying a Hayabusa instead. I'm old school. Alot of these new bikes of today look unattractive, and too space age to me. This is from a time when motorcycles looked like true motorcycles. I bet this bike brought in a pretty penny. It looks mint, fresh out of the crate! Sounds great with the Vance and Hines exhaust on it. Would also sound great with a Brock's exhaust system too. One thing I do know, is that Terry Vance and Byron Hines would love that bike, and definitely approve of it! Terry and Byron were The Shit, back in the 1980's dragbike scene! ! Fucking gorgeous! 😲😁😎

If its the bigblock 1300cc? It should have the potential for 190hp i would think. My 1216kit make about that in my gsxr 1100 with small head and cam work. 38mm lectrons. That head you have is desirable cause you can do so much with them. Thats a awesome bike. It will sound like no other bike at the track. Wherever you are. Lol those mikuni flatslides are classic. Harder to find also. Sorry if i get to excited about this bike. Lmao.
I raced one of those gsxr 1100's on grudge night at the track years ago on my stock 84' GS1150 and got smoked all but one time. He made one small mistake at the start and I sneaked one victory in lol. I knew I had no chance but it was worth it just to see him after each run shake his head at me. Had a good laugh during cool down when he wandered over to look at it. These bikes can scream if you hit every gear just right.

I still have the time stubbs from that night believe it or not. It's funny, one kid go real testy and started chirping at me saying no fuckin' way that's stock, it's old and heavy etc which made my victorys more sweet of course lol. Dude was a tool.
Anyway, another rider heard this exchange and walked over and said to me "that kid don't know how to ride and you do and that bike is a beast, I've riden one". Made me feel great, I won't lie, I was ready to take on anyone by this point. Next time at the line I look over and it's this same guy on a road track(race number on the side) Honda 900. Bastard beat be on one wheel lololol. Back to earth and my helmet was loose fitting again.
After that day it was always my dream to own one of those Hondas. I made that dream come true four years ago finally and got me a mint 2007 Fireblade. Never had so much fun on a bike.

I rode a turbocharged 03 hayabusa for about 10yrs on the street. It's hard to beat that big bore Suzuki power. Man if I just had the room...... drool.

This one takes me back I had one this colour which I used as a Courier bike. It was 1989 GSX1100E not the 1150. Ken's right about the top end as they had the black wrinkle finish with flat cover TSCC on it with big flat allen head screws holding it on no end caps like the earlier Suzuki's both 8 and 16 valve.

Great bike. I have one almost identical. The engine in yours has the earlier 1100E head. Very similar to the 1150 but dragracers swap and change if a good worked over head comes their way. It will likely be a 1327cc or maybe a 1360cc. It WILL be good for 170hp easily. And yes, they are PM wheels. PM Chicane 👍

Brother you made my day today this suzuki is unreal,the adb rotax 605,and I listened to your 2hr interview with joe last night I can’t tune a bike like the wizard but I assure u i can turn wrenches with the best of them,after seeing your Honda showroom and all the other toys there I’m seriously considering packing my shit and coming up. I have this federal beef I got caught up in I have to handle but I assure u I’m not facing any time so if u really need a mechanic this summer keep me in mind it would be my dream to work there with you and your crew !

I've had my 84' GS1150 since 88'. Weighs a fuck ton but she goes like stink when it hits that powerband. Collecting dust in the corner of the garage now since I picked up my 2007 CBR1000RR four years ago.

I had a dead stock on of these that pulled 11 flats at the strip. I later modified it to 1227 with a full engine rebuild and many other trick parts, but even that could not touch this in terms of style and power. By the way my right engine panel had the same exact crack in it.
