Glad it was helpful!
Great video, I'm new to your channel but I've been learning a lot.
Hey MBB, glad you like the videos 👍
Awesome feature. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Something new thanks Ape!
No problem!
cool video, learn something new every day.
So eone asked me if it was possible 🤔
Thanks Ape. Just think: it would have taken @Temporarilyoffline a whole Nuggets episode to do that! More time for hamming!!! 😂
😯
Learn something new everyday.
Thanks for watching Shane 👍
Thanks, I didn't not know about that.
Thanks for checking it out Mike 👍
Thanks!
Welcome!
Thanks. Wondered how to do that.

Thanks Rod 👍
Here is a question: In the video the transmitting radio is within the range of the receiving radio, so we can surmise that no repeater was necessarily involved...maybe was, maybe wasn't. If the transmitting radio was out of range of the receiving radio but there was a repeater involved that needed a code to activate, which is the sought after prize, how would the receiving radio discover the code? Does the repeater transmit the code necessary to activate itself ?
No repeater was involved. The receiving radio can only process a signal it hears. If the repeater has a code on transmit you can scan for that, you cannot scan the repeaters input tone unless you can RX someone transmitting to the repeater.
As you say, "I'll be dipped!" 👍
Right!
Hi for GMRS on a UV5R if I know the receive tone, the transmit tone is plus 5 more correct?
I am using the chirp to program a gmrs repeater and I put it in the receive tone aka tone sql column. With plus 5 of my receive tone of 156.7, Chirp doesn't give me an option to put that amount in the tone column aka transmit column. Would all I need to do in this case is put the duplex + and put the offset for 5.000000? Closest thing to 161.7 is 162.2 in the tone column. Also on my UV5R it reads at the top +- when I am on channel mode for that repeater. The R-CTCS and T-CTCS are the same number when I look as well through the menu. Is this correct or does the T-CTCS number need to be different to transmit on the repeater?
Thanks!
The tones are set by the repeater and can be the same for both TX and RX 👍
My newer uv5r menue times out while waiting for transmission, my 2017 uv5r menue stays on while waiting on transmission to be received indefinitely. Is there any was to get newer uv5r menue to not time out?
Sorry man, I have no idea 😕
I have a UV-5R GMRS and the scan for CTCSS codes only works on the VFO setting. It seems very odd that it won't work on the channel setting. I can't even set the tone frequencies manually (keyboard) in the channel mode, only in CHIRP. Is this true for other radios?
In channel mode the tone setting is saved and that’s why it won’t work.
I have a question because I see Your uv5r also exits after some time. Maybe You know what is the issue. I bought a uv5r more than 10 years ago and it stays in scanning as long as needed, but the new one just exits after half of minute. It is very frustrating, do You maybe know why is that? Thanks.
I don't know, I haven't seen that.
Is there a way to find this out using SDR or HackRF with Mayhem firmware installed?
Thanks!
Not that I am aware of…
So it works only if using a repeater?
Any transmission using tones
My radio will not scan following your instructions, what am I doing wrong?
No idea, sorry to hear you are having troubles.
It might be because of the version of firmware your radio has. BFB297 firmware will do it. Hold 3 and turn on to see you firmware version
I thought the same thing.
When in the menu I found you do not need set it to a tone first if previously in off.
When in r-ctcss setting, press menu. You should now be able to use the arrows to select up for down.
Only at this point can you press the scan button and have the CT blinking to the left of the screen. If CT is blinking when the receiver signal is transmitting the search will begin.
I do believe though it will only search while the signal is transmitted. And will stop searching when signal is lost.
If you have control over the signal transmission, keep the mic cued until it have finished is search successfully.
Well, I'll be damned!😂
Right 👍
