Thanks for these lessons! I just bought my first board two days ago, so I'm trying to learn all this basic stuff. It's harder than I thought :D

Just got a longboard because I couldn't bring my bicycles with me to college.
Weather was nicer today but I'm slightly sick lol. Haven't gotten to ride it yet.
Then again not a total beginner, I have gone on skateboards and caster boards as well.
So far I've just been rolling around the apartment and looking out the window while standing on it.
Hope I can go on my first ride soon.
Want to thank you for one of your old videos on loosening the wheels a little because 3 of them were too tight and one was too loose lol.
Would be nice if you reviewed the one I got, it came with the tool and was like $60 I wanna see how bad it is compared to the rest lol. Junli 41 inch. I got the fantasy variant because I like the colours on it.
Got bones Reds through your affiliate link, idk if it still gives you money lol

The point about having most of your weight on your front foot is a really important one. What I used to do when I was learning is push with my right foot, I'm regular, but never put my right foot on the board. Do long, exaggerated push, but keep the pushing foot off the board and just hover it on the side. This helps taught me to balance with my left dominant foot on the board while at the same time develop good pushing technique. A lot of beginners will tend to do very abbreviated pushes because they want to get their pushing foot onto the board as quickly as possible. Don't rush this process. It may take marginally longer to learn by having only one foot on the board, but it pays off in that you will never be uncomfortable with just one foot on the board again. Of course, don't forget to repeat this the other way, which is having your non-dominant foot in the front of the board and pushing with your dominant foot while leaving it hovering on the side. This was really difficult for me since my right foot can't balance for shit, but it's important to have good balance on both feet and being able to push with either feet.

Great tips for first time riders. How do you spin the board like that and do tricks on a longboard? My Magneto Pintail and retrospect drop through are really heavy.

I put my front foot at around 45 degrees, because moving that foot every 3 seconds for push and cruise is not an option for me. So I'm actually going for braap stik and push with my hands. My one leg gets tired from the constant pushing and sure I tried pushing switch and fell backward real quick. It's tough being a beginner and non skater.

I got surgery on my "man area", so I need to wait for that to heal before buying one 😅😭
