    Finally, a video on how to wire a lamp, not only for UK viewers but also with all the information we actually need!
    No other video I have found has been as helpful as this one and has given all the essential information such as ‘it does not matter which wire, i.e neutral or live, you connect to which terminal’ (as long as the earth goes in the right place, of course!). These types of details are so important to beginners. Thanks so much! 👍🏻

      @@EdisonLightGlobes sorry, should've explained better: your video was very helpful and I succeeded in rewiring a lamp safely because of your advice BUT I was so slow that you had completely finished while I was still doing the first bit - removing the plastic casing from the ends of live and neutral

    Thanks thats helpful. The one i,m working on looks exactly the same except there is an extra screw at the bottom of the inside of the l cap where the cable comes in which im not sure what is for, do you know what this might be?

    Great video. One question: if wiring a 3 wire cable (including earth) to a plastic bayonet that does not have an earthing connector, what do you do with the earth wire?

    • @EdisonLightGlobes
      @EdisonLightGlobes  Před 2 lety

      Cut the earth cable back half an inch and don't connect to earth at the mains.

      @EdisonLightGlobes  Před rokem

      It depends what is at the ceiling end. If there is a plug in thing then you would need to eliminate that and use a separate ceiling rose.

      @EdisonLightGlobes  Před rokem

      @@jeffvezich8936 So do you have the ceiling mounted part? If you don't use that you will need an electrician to connect using a regular ceiling rose, cutting the ceiling plug thing off.
      Use a ceiling rose like one of these.

    • @EdisonLightGlobes

      It is a 240 Volt lamp holder. Not sure what you mean by "socket". Do you mean a wall plug?

      @@EdisonLightGlobes yes to wall plug. Regards Tom

    • @EdisonLightGlobes
      @EdisonLightGlobes  Před 3 lety

      @@TomTomIAm There is no reason why that is not do-able. In certain countries you may need a special plug top to plug into since it would be a pendant light specification. Generally this is a plug top with no switch with a switch wired to a convenient location on a wall.
