After hearing Kate sing this I realise why I'm only a truck driver. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have accepted my place in the universe and can smile.
Some people sing songs, some drive trucks. We all depend on each other. Without Gary, Kate wouldn't have a mike to sing into and I wouldn't have a computer to hear her.
Without truck drivers, civilization would grind to a halt. Thank you for the away from home offers you make, to make our lives easy! Have you never heard of the singing Truck driver roaring down route 66 you might have a great voice with the sounds of your truck to accompany you! :)
Correction. "nothing more or less than human." Now lets clink glasses and drink up our Guinness. There are places to go, people to see and joys to behold. Cheers.
Am 85 next month (March 2021) and have only just discovered Kate. So very glad I have. Her voice has really touched me very deeply. Best wishes Kate. Keep safe and well during these "locked down" times.
@@andymoore9977 Well done Andy. Please play "Bring Me a Boat" Kates cds are on my birthday, xmas list but I will be perusing HMV when I can get into the store. Kind regards.
As people my age enter the last decade of our lives, it seems inevitable that we look back and ask ourselves the question that is the title of this song. It’ll make you swell up in the chest. In that way, this song is hard to listen to….but you must. It’s stunning.
Fairport's version is my favourite song of all time. A dear departed friend of mine introduced me to it in 1980. We would sit around for hours playing chess listening to Fairport and Dylan and the like. This version is absolutely stunning and pays homage to the original in my opinion, well done Kate.
I would liked you to know a little about Kate Rusby. She is the main part of a cottage industry, probably one of the few remaining. Her family are all part of the team. Dad is General Manager and Roady., her brother mixed this track and most of her songs on about 11 albums and looks after live gigs, her mum does accounts and her sister sorts out travel details, The studio and office is in South Yorkshire not far from me in Pennistone near Barnsley. The defiance of the Rusby`s is brilliant.
When i was married,my brother in law lived near pennistone, yorkshire(I wont mention the actual village).I took his dogs for a walk one day and met this nice lady walking her dogs. I told my brother in law when i got back to his house and he replied,"Oh that's Kate,my neighbour.
I watched Kate's documentary about her whole family working together and was deeply impressed, I with them all good health and propperity! may they continue to work together for many years to come.
An additional comment. Listening to this again I've just realised why I love Kate Rusby so much & have every one of her albums - she sounds so much like Sandy Denny. Her albums & her "singy songy" sessions every week during my 5 month self isolation just after I lost my wife of 40 years helped me with my grieving.
Sandy Denny is my favourite singer of past times I think you will applaud my acknowledgement of the brilliant Sandy and my joy of watching Kate Rusby who is loved by everyone who enjoys her style, Kate is sincere, brilliant and totally committed to her music. She is a Yorkshire Treasure. Taking my two drum and Bass daughters in September, to a gig in Halifax, they will love Kates gig.
I shed tears when I hear this song. My ancestor was on the first fleet to Australia. He was from Derbyshire. I love this song so much. It reminds me so much of England. Well done Kate.
I don't care who sings it, as long as they sing it.. And you can't deny the voice.. And Kate sings it.. she knows where the time goes.. like all of us who love this song..
I listened to a lot of versions of this song, and for me, it's the very best one! All is good, only two instruments, the atmosphere is intimist, and the voice.....delicate and warm....I love it!!!
went there once in the early 90's, had a ball, living in Australia now so it's a bit hard to get there, but when i get back to the UK it's one festival that's on my list.
Thank you Kate and Family! A beautiful rendition of the Sandy Denny song, I loved this many years ago when sung by Fairport Convention. I live in Frankfurt these days but hearing this stunning folk music makes me homesick for the good old UK.
I grew up listening to Fairport’s original of this hauntingly beautiful song which I don’t think can be beaten. Nevertheless Kate is another favourite of mine and her version is exquisite and does justice to Sandy Denny and Co.
I don't think anyone can better the definitive version by Sandy Denny. But I do love the arrangement on this with the sumptuous accordion alongside Kate Rusby,s vocal. She can do no wrong in my opinion making it a worthy effort.
Indeed the timbre of her voice is different BUT I think it's unique and lovely. Taking on a Sandy Denny song takes confidence and talent and this gal has both! Thrilled to have "met" her!
I love this lady. I love Sandy Denny. Kate sings it beautifully. Looking forward to seeing her at The Barbican on the 18th December 2017. RIP Sandy, your music lives on.
This was in my y6 leavers assembly and made us all cry because it reminded us all that we all had to leave eachother and are never going to see eachother ever again :(
Kate loves digging into history and singing songs not heard for hundreds of years as well as known songs and her own. I was privalled to see her in Halifax singing mostly her own songs, it was a joy to see and hear. She even performed finishing off a Barnsley sized cup of tea, Harmonies to one of her hubby`s songs. How rock and roll is that.
Beautiful music is a treasure and it has a place in the countries history, If I have done my research correctly, I saw Sandy Denny in her band Fotheringday in 1970 at the Plumpton music festival. Kate would have been good in that environment.
I agree with Eddie, talent will out.It is a blessing to have the support of the family and that the family recognise the talent within.Much love to the Rusby family. Was obviously a natural process handed down and adapted.Absolutely love the colliary band stuff, and I hope the colliary band love the Rusby stuff.Great memories of Peter Skellern doing something similar in the 70's.All good. Was born in Yorkshire and proud.
This is the only song where Kate`s version is not my favourite - Sandy Denny`s version is unbeatable in my view - but Kate`s voice is simply angelic and I could probably live off that alone to be honest!
You know that someone has done a good rendition of this song when you feel a stab in the heart from wishing someone loved you this much. Rusby's version leaves me wandering around wishing for that.
There was just a feature about this song on BBC Radio 4 with contribution from Rufus Wainwright, Judy Collins and others. I remember thinking (just yesterday !) what Kate Rusby thought of this song and here I am. Bingo - and she's nailed it....
I loved the Sandy version of this great song & certainly would put this up there with it. Kate Rusby has a beautiful voice ideally suited to folk music. The accompaniment is just right . Good stuff.
This is a very sweet version. I'm a huge Kate Rusby fan and I'm not putting this version down at all when I say that for me Sandy's version will always be the best and that Judy Collins comes a close second.
Kate's voice has an innocence and clarity I haven't heard often. Perfection for this song. And I'm a Sandy Denny fan...but I like this version more.
After hearing Kate sing this I realise why I'm only a truck driver. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have accepted my place in the universe and can smile.

You're not a truck driver, you're a person driving a truck and much more..

Listen to Willin' by Little Feat and be proud of your craft. I work in IT, you've got a real job. Respect.
As a devoted fan of the late great Sandy Denny this is by far the best version I have heard by anyone other than Sandy well done Kate.
yup. cannot argue with that
I totally agree with you.
Sandy Denny's song is so meaningful.
Warm greetings from The Netherlands
👍💜🍀🤘💪🇳🇱🌷🤗
Am 85 next month (March 2021) and have only just discovered Kate. So very glad I have. Her voice has really touched me very deeply. Best wishes Kate. Keep safe and well during these "locked down" times.
I have just 'found her'. Brilliant. Giving me goose bumps!
@@andymoore9977 Well done Andy. Please play "Bring Me a Boat" Kates cds are on my birthday, xmas list but I will be perusing HMV when I can get into the store. Kind regards.
Lovely version - just shows that a classic CAN be reinterpreted....beautifully!

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is a beautiful rendition and really suits her voice.
Her voice is perfectly suited--sounds like she was born to sing this song.
Nothing more need be said. This version stands on its own.
Superb performance by Kate that makes me miss Sandy all the more.
Proving that Sandy Denny is simply leagues above anyone else,,,
Fairport's version is my favourite song of all time. A dear departed friend of mine introduced me to it in 1980. We would sit around for hours playing chess listening to Fairport and Dylan and the like. This version is absolutely stunning and pays homage to the original in my opinion, well done Kate.
This version makes me cry good tears
A beautiful version - Kate has an amazing voice - there is something very believable and 'of the moment' about the Sandy Denny version... RIP Sandy
Beautiful Song beautifully sung. Miss you Sandy RIP

My bro Andy Seward - Kate's bass player produced and mixed most of her early albums

Are you still alive?
Sandy would have approved of Kate's version.
Più passa il tempo e più mi piace!
Love this version by Kate. Going through a difficult time at the moment having lost a very good friend but songs like this bring comfort
Only just discovered this. Its absolutely brilliant. Having lost my wife 3 months ago songs like this help me, don't know why they just do.
Wow- this is beautiful
This version will be played at my funeral. Kate the voice of an angel.
Sublime - what a voice, and I think the accordion is a perfect accompaniment.
My fave song of all time and a wonderful true rendition.
Sandy Denny is my favourite singer of past times I think you will applaud my acknowledgement of the brilliant Sandy and my joy of watching Kate Rusby who is loved by everyone who enjoys her style, Kate is sincere, brilliant and totally committed to her music. stunning cover of a timeless song...
Love this song and love Kate's version, notice there are some 'thumbs down' Some people have cloth ears.
Or cloth fingers?
No. They are waiting for the Britney Spears and Lady Ga Ga versions.
Oh this beautiful lark of a girl, I forgot about her songs.
So glad you have remembered. I enjoy her singing so much, I am a regular listener and devoted fan. Regards.
Sandy Denny's the queen of folk music and Kate is the princess
Sie ist eher die Kammerzofe...
I shed tears when I hear this song. My ancestor was on the first fleet to Australia. He was from Derbyshire. I love this song so much. It reminds me so much of England. Well done Kate.
Absolutely beautiful cover of an amazing song ;)
I don't care who sings it, as long as they sing it.. And you can't deny the voice.. And Kate sings it.. she knows where the time goes.. like all of us who love this song..
Superb..Sandy's version is still the best but Kate has an integrity in her voice that is unique...and she is so talented...
It is simply a delicious version. Makes my thoughts fly in harmony. Widely appreciated.
My favorite version of this was sung by Judy Collins. So glad I discovered this. Absolutely beautiful.
Mike Gallagher your so right !! judy collins version is best . stephen stills plays a great guitar on judys version .
Wow. Mighty fine. Sandy would have been impressed and proud, methinks ...
You may indeed. :-) Beautifully put.

This song makes me sad but I can't stop playing it. Lovely Kate - thank you.
footprints in the sand. A pebble from the beach. Kate song in your soul. Memories and peaceful heart are these. x
So beautiful---

Sandy Denny would have loved this .Thank you for this Kate and for all your other brilliant songs
Simply gentle and simply brilliant. Who knows?
went there once in the early 90's, had a ball, living in Australia now so it's a bit hard to get there, but when i get back to the UK it's one festival that's on my list.

STUNNING ! When Kate sings its perfection ! She is very easy on the eye too !
Thank you Kate and Family! A beautiful rendition of the Sandy Denny song, I loved this many years ago when sung by Fairport Convention. I live in Frankfurt these days but hearing this stunning folk music makes me homesick for the good old UK.
Found Kate due to Jennifer Saunders series Jam And Jerusalem thanks again for another great find Jen!

Nice version of this timeless classic.
Thank you,,,
just gorgeous
What's not to like.....beautiful

Singing teachers train them out of it. Glad she fired hers.
I love this lady. I love Sandy Denny. Kate sings it beautifully. Looking forward to seeing her at The Barbican on the 18th December 2017. RIP Sandy, your music lives on.
Beautifully written and spot on in your assessment.
LOVELY VOICE
i love her rendition of this classic, and i also love her.
I am 86 now, still listening to and loving this wonderful lady. January, 2023.
I am in awe - I never expected to hear anybody sing this song. She has balls, and she more than does this justice.
This was in my y6 leavers assembly and made us all cry because it reminded us all that we all had to leave eachother and are never going to see eachother ever again :(
simply gorgeous
wow, i just discovered this, and this is totally beautiful.
Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, Kate Rusby... three wonders...
You can put Sandy Denny in there as well.
I do not think there is another living person who could take this song on - quite extraordinary....
All Over Again - Kate looked very nice performing it on the Late Late Show.
Beautiful music is a treasure and it has a place in the countries history, If I have done my research correctly, I saw Sandy Denny in her band Fotheringday in 1970 at the Plumpton music festival.
Kate would have been good in that environment.
Thank you Kate. Lovely
I didn't expect to to like this this but she does this wonderful son
g beautifully
Yes, well said. An intelligent and mature and wise perspective.
Beauty ... another version to add to my compilation tape of covers of this song to make my journeys from Dingle to Donegal that bit better.
Wow, a great version, she takes Sandy and puts a Kate twist on it. Brilliant, as was Sandy's.
i have taken the time to listen to the other versions of this song and this one beats them all beautiful song sung extremely well thx u kate
Great version from this wonderful lady.
Beautiful lyrics beautifully sung what else would we expect from our Kate often brings me to tears of joy and pain😭
Always thought Sandy's version couldn't be topped . It hasn't ... but this as good in its own way . Nice job Kate .
Sandy Denny did it too years and years ago. Its just as good. Oddly they are both no longer with us taken before their time.
I remember vividly going to see kate rugby in Inverness and the amusing stories told between beautiful and mesmerising songs
I knew Sandy. She would have loved this. Who knows where anything goes?
I agree with Eddie, talent will out.It is a blessing to have the support of the family and that the family recognise the talent within.Much love to the Rusby family. Was obviously a natural process handed down and adapted.Absolutely love the colliary band stuff, and I hope the colliary band love the Rusby stuff.Great memories of Peter Skellern doing something similar in the 70's.All good. Was born in Yorkshire and proud.

Heart beatingly beautiful!
You know that someone has done a good rendition of this song when you feel a stab in the heart from wishing someone loved you this much. Rusby's version leaves me wandering around wishing for that.
That sounds like the amazing Ian Carr on guitar and Karen Tweed on accordion - can anyone confirm? What a combo - beautiful!
Just breathtakingly amazing and wonderous.... I love Kate Rusby singing anything she chooses to... xxxxxxxxxxxx
Incredible job with this cover. Beautiful!
Lovely version....kate, come to belfast!
There was just a feature about this song on BBC Radio 4 with contribution from Rufus Wainwright, Judy Collins and others. I remember thinking (just yesterday !) what Kate Rusby thought of this song and here I am. Bingo - and she's nailed it....
@mixedgrill I agree with you! Love it (and I am ancient enough to remember Sandy Denny). Thank you so much for uploading this.
I loved the Sandy version of this great song & certainly would put this up there with it. Kate Rusby has a beautiful voice ideally suited to folk music. The accompaniment is just right . Good stuff.
Beautiful version of a classic song
It's lovely! I have a hard time deciding whose version I prefer... Sandy Denny's, Kate Wolf's or Kate Rusby's. They are all beautiful!
I would love to see Kate play Cropredy!
Beautiful version. Thank you!
Beautiful. Eva Cassidy version just as beautiful.
I never knew this song was one of sandy dennie's but fantastic it is sunch richly and sincerely by miss rusby from john macleod
This is a very sweet version. I'm a huge Kate Rusby fan and I'm not putting this version down at all when I say that for me Sandy's version will always be the best and that Judy Collins comes a close second.
