    Hiya, thanks so much for this. It is certainly a game changer! Can I just clarify it is OK to freeze a cake decorated with Swiss meringue buttercream? Secondly, when I thaw, you say leave in the fridge for 2 hours and then bring to room temp. How long roughly would you say it needs to be at room temp to thaw completely? I live in England so not particularly hot climate! I was thinking of leaving it in a plastic cake container overnight?

      Hi there! I would keep it refrigerated right until you have to travel and store it in a cake box and then put the box into a cooler. If it is frosted with buttercream and has no decor, you can leave the cling wrap on in the refrigerator while it's thawing. Once you take it out of the fridge, you can remove the cling wrap.

If it's completely covered, you can do the same exact process as shown in this video. Hi there! When you ice the cake, make sure it has completely cooled - if it's still warm, it will melt the icing and make a mess! You don't have to refrigerate the cake, but it would definitely be easier if the cake were chilled a bit when you apply the icing (I like to have my cakes chilled because it keeps the crumbs more intact).

      Hi! I would store in the freezer and then let it thaw in the fridge the night or two nights before depending on how large the cake is

      Hi there! As long as your wrap it well, it shouldn't get freezer burn. Just make sure that you let it completely thaw in the fridge before moving it to room temperature.

      Hi! I would wrap it in saran wrap twice, then put foil over it.

      Hi there! No, you don't need to do this if you'll be using the cake the next day. You can just keep it in the fridge.

    Can you freeze a cake with fresh fruit filling?

    • @JustBakecause
      @JustBakecause  Před rokem

      Hi Fatima! You can, just make sure that you've made a secure dam around the filling so that it doesn't seep through, and make sure to fully let it thaw in the fridge before serving because fruit does take a while to thaw from the freezer.

    Wont the buttercream sweat when it thaws?

    • @JustBakecause
      @JustBakecause  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Valerie! The buttercream will go through condensation if you're taking it directly from the freezer to the countertop - which is why I definitely recommend letting it thaw in the fridge first! You can refer to 02:18 to see where I explain this. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    I've read that it's recommended to freeze it "naked" for a couple hours so that when you wrap in cling wrap it won't wreck the decorations.

    • @JustBakecause
      @JustBakecause  Před 2 lety

      it definitely depends on what decor you have on your cake - for instance, if you have edible gold leaf it might transfer to the saran wrap but if it's fully frosted in just buttercream, the flash freezing process should be okay!

    Can you freeze a cake with fondant on it?

    • @JustBakecause
      @JustBakecause  Před 3 lety +1

      HI Arianna! Yes, you can! I would wrap it in multiple layers of saran wrap and you can even put foil around it as well. Let it fully defrost and thaw in the fridge - do NOT take it from freezer straight to the counter otherwise condensation will happen and the fondant will sweat. After you take it out of the fridge and let the cake come to room temp, leave the saran wrap on there (you can remove foil though).

      @@ariannamedina3891 Hi Arianna! Yes, you will keep it wrapped in the fridge. It depends on how big your cake is, but to be safe, I would allow at least one full day to thaw in the refrigerator.

    • @JustBakecause

      Hi Kirti, the freezer will harden and freeze the cake so you can let it thaw by first putting it into the refrigerator, and after it thaws completely you can let it come to room temperature.

      Hi! Whipped cream tends to separate if frozen, so I wouldn't recommend it, but you can try it out! I'm not sure how the texture will be once thawed.

      @JustBakecause  Před rokem

      Hi! You can - it just depends on how long you are putting the cake in the freezer. The foil is just to help avoid any freezer burn but you can definitely saran wrap and then put it in the cake box!
