Just Bakecause: Thank/you for the how too. Im a single guy and i mixed 2 cake mixes, instead of just one box for one cake. Dont know what i was thinking. Hi can you freeze a whipped cream iced cake? Thanks x
Hello, what do u think about my plan if my bday is on wednesday, is it ok if i bake it on monday and just keep it overnight on the counter, decorate with buttercream on tuesday afternoon and keep in a box in a refrigerator? How many hours should i take it out from the ref from the time of consumption? Thanks
Great video!! When would you advice to remove the cling film from the cake?
Hi! I'll usually remove it after it's thawed in the fridge for a couple hours :)
Hi plz help, if I frost and decorate a two tier cake and it’s needed for tomorrow can I put it in the fridge to stay fresh will it mess up? Also if I have cakesickles that’s also made today but needed for tomorrow do I need to wrap them up In fridge too or jus put em in a box plz help out
so do you leave it wrapped in foil and plastic when thawing in the fridge
How does the icing not stick to the glad wrap in/after defrosting though? 🤔. That’s what I have trouble with …?
I frose a decorated cake, when I already used color. I just kept it in the freezer over night and when I brought it out, it started to sweat. It was so frustrating. That's why I'm here, now I know better. Thank you
I hope you were able to save it! Glad you found this video.

On peut congeler un gateau avec interieur ou exterieur une creme chantilly avec de la mascarpone aussi ? Ou cest ok que pour la creme au beurre americaine et a la meringue suisse ?
Thank you for your video, this was really helpfull. I just have one question does this method change the consistency of the cake at all? I'm planning on making my own wedding cake about 4 days in advance of the big day. The cakes are nice and fluffy when fresh, and I would really hate to loose that consistency.
Hi Gemma! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! It shouldn't change the texture of the cake when it comes to room temperature.
Thanks
Thank you
This is great! Do you think a lemon curd filling will thaw ok?
Hi Marianne! Yes I think that should be fine! Just make sure to let it thaw in the fridge first :)
Hiya, thanks so much for this. It is certainly a game changer! Can I just clarify it is OK to freeze a cake decorated with Swiss meringue buttercream? Secondly, when I thaw, you say leave in the fridge for 2 hours and then bring to room temp. How long roughly would you say it needs to be at room temp to thaw completely? I live in England so not particularly hot climate! I was thinking of leaving it in a plastic cake container overnight?
Hi Rebecca! Yes! I actually frost all my cakes with Swiss meringue, so this is perfect. The amount of time to thaw will depend on the size of your cake. For a 6 or 8", it will probably take a few hours to thaw in the fridge!
Combien de temps pour degeler un layer cake de 18 ou 15 cm ? 24 h ? On peut congeler avec la creme au beurre meringue suisse et les décorations en pate à sucre ?
How long a decorated cake lasts in fridge??
Once I move my frozen cake to the fridge should still leave it with cling film and foil so it defrost slowly in the fridge?
Hi..
I need to travel with a buttercream frosting cake on a route of 6-7 hours . Can u suggest something about how should i do so that the cake doesn’t go bad? And when the cake is to be thawed , it should be covered with cling film or not?
Hi there! I would keep it refrigerated right until you have to travel and store it in a cake box and then put the box into a cooler. If it is frosted with buttercream and has no decor, you can leave the cling wrap on in the refrigerator while it's thawing. Once you take it out of the fridge, you can remove the cling wrap.
Hi! I'm planning on making my wedding cake one week before my wedding and freezing it. I'm not sure when I should let it defrost. I need to transport is to the venue 1 day before the wedding, and the ride will be about 1.5 hour ride. What do you suggest? Should I take it out of the freezer the night before we travel or could it travel while defrosting? Or will it sweat to much?
Thank you for your time and help!
Hi Taylor! How exciting! Congrats on your big day. I would bring it to the fridge the day before you need it and you can assemble it at the venue just to be safe. I would make sure it's completely thawed in the fridge before traveling with it. Bring extra frosting too!
Hello , @bakecause , if I take my cake out of freezer and place in freezer and put it in the cake box to as our drying out , should I wrap the box in cling wrap to favour further more drying out if in fridge for 2 days ? Saw this tip on another video and was wondering your thoughts ??
Hi Chontelle! Yes, that is definitely an extra step to be safe, and won't harm the cake so you can try it out!
Hello
I just want to refrigerate the decorated cake( butter cream frosting) and use it for next day.
Can I just keep the cake in refrigerator without covering
Hi Bheema! This should be fine, but it MIGHT dry the cake out if it's uncovered. I would recommend putting it in a box just to keep it fresh!
Thanks for the informative video. My question is, after you put the cake to thaw in the fridge, do you take the plastic wrap and foil before or after it's all thawed out? My concern is whether the icing will be damaged/smeared if we take it off after it's thawed?
Hi Iris! If you already frosted the cake, you can take the foil and plastic wrap off when you put it in the fridge. Let me know if you try this out!
Hi! I freeze my cake layers in advance. Can I do this, thaw them, decorate my cake and refreeze the whole thing? X
Hi Maryse! Yes! As long as you're not constantly taking your cake in and out of the freezer, you should be fine doing this. I do this too :)
After decorating my cake with whipped cream should I store it in fridge before serving on the same day or should I keep it at room temp?
It should be fine for a few hours at room temperature, if not you can store it in the fridge and take it out before serving. It also depends on what type of cake you're using. If you're doing a sponge/chiffon cake, it should be fine eaten straight from the fridge.
Hi dear I can put cake covered by chocolate ganache and decorated by some fondant in the freezer? And when I come it out I need to leave it wrapped by the foil as well or only by the clear one
And stuff it with fresh cream
Thank you for your videos what’s the best way to keep your cake protected from the sun when you give an a party
Hi Pamela! Are you talking about during the transportation of the cake to the party? I would store it in a box and put it on a flat surface of your car near the vents so the A/C can reach it and keep it cool.
If I am traveling to a wedding (6 hours) Should I freeze my swiss meringue cakes and then transport to venue and put in fridge for a day until the wedding or transport from fridge to venue's refrigerator. I will be arriving 2 days before the wedding with cakes. Thank you so much!
Hi Susan, hope I'm not too late with my response! I actually did this before so here are my tips: Fill and crumb coat the cake(s) and freeze, double wrapping with saran wrap and then foil. Travel with the cakes frozen, then assemble and frost at the venue, leaving it in the fridge when done.
I baked a three layer cake and put a crumb coat on it and meant to leave it in the freezer for half an hour but accidentally fell asleep and now it’s been in there all night. I need it for an evening party tonight and have just popped it in the fridge. Do you know when I can take it out to decorate it?
Hi Kishori! So sorry for the late response. I hope everything worked out okay with the cake!
Before putting it in the fridge, do I take the foil and wrap off? Because I would think when it thaws the icing would stick to the wrap
Hey Rebecca! Yes, you can take the foil and saran wrap off
hi! how would this process be different for a icecream cake? thanks
Hey Mia! If this is a "naked" ice cream cake, you can assemble it in a saran wrap lined cake pan, so that it's easy to take out of the freezer. If it's completely covered, you can do the same exact process as shown in this video. Of course, you'll just need to work quickly since it's ice cream cake and you don't want to leave it out at room temp too long!
Helloooo :) thank you for this!! Can you please confirm whether a condensed milk based buttercream frosted cake will be okay? I plan to make it right now and then freeze the whole cake for a couple hours, take it out of the freezer and let it thaw in the refridgerator overnight. Do you think it'll work?! I hope it travels well.. I'm so worried since this is my first time!
Hi Simran! I'm so sorry - I've never worked with a condensed milk based buttercream so I'm not sure how it will hold up frozen and then thawed in the fridge!
@@JustBakecause Hey! That's okay :) I took the risk and it actually worked out great for the situation I was in!
For anyone who is wondering about this, I didn't freeze it overnight because I was short on time. I assembled my cake in the morning and kept it in the freezer for the frosting to set a bit (for an hour or two) and then transferred it to the fridge until I needed it! I just used the information from this great video and adjusted it for my situation :) Hope it helps, if you had doubts about condensed milk based frosting!
@@simrank.oberoi1301 hello, did you wrap anything around the cake while you kept in the the fridge?
@@lorilee1931 Hello, Lori! No, I did not - I would have preferred to but I was struggling with the plastic wrap so much and being low on time wasn't helping, haha. I don't remember properly but I think I did try to find a big/tall enough utensil to cover it up with but I think I left it to the cake Gods in the end. I'd say you can wrap it up if you have the time/patience for it but I didn't have an issue regardless ^^ :)

Thank you very much for the excellent information ، My question is if I freeze my cake that is covered from the outside with Swiss buttercream & later I want to decorate it with sugar paste، what are your tips for me to succeed & not to face problems during its work? Thank you very much 😊🥰

hi
today i made a cake for my mothers birthday
and i put icing on the cake but the icing melted after i put the icing on
so i need your advice , do we need to put the cake for refrigerator for atleast 2 days????
i didnt cool the cake and i just put on the icing
is it wrong??
pls teach me bcoz im just a begginer
hope to receive ur feedback
thx u
Hi there! When you ice the cake, make sure it has completely cooled - if it's still warm, it will melt the icing and make a mess! You don't have to refrigerate the cake, but it would definitely be easier if the cake were chilled a bit when you apply the icing (I like to have my cakes chilled because it keeps the crumbs more intact).
❤️❤️❤️
hi i hope you can offer me advice .. i want to send a authentic fully decorated with a picture dominican style cake by mail overnight to another state ... in case you are not familiar that is a super sweet cake with meringue icing i think lol ... so i was thinking to freeze it and package in a plastic cake container wrap with saran wrap then foil and then place ice packs on the outside ... fedex guarantees next day ... its a surprise and of course i dont want her to get sick from it dropping below a refrigerated temp and i also dont want the decorations to get ruined ... would you have any advice??

Hi! Can i freeze a cake with strawberry filling? Thanx
Hi! Yes you definitely can, you'll just need to have it a little extra longer in the fridge since the strawberries may take a bit more time to thaw out
Hey how should i store a chocolate truffle cake with truffle sauce for like 7 hours and then to be transported 2 hours away? Like both at home and then in transport?
Hi Geetika! I would store it in the fridge if you will be eating it the next day. For transportation, definitely make sure it's on a sturdy cake board and put it in a cake box and leave it on a level surface of your car (usually the floor is best). Make sure you blast the A/C especially since it's a little warmer right now!
Just Bakecause thank u so much ❣️
Does this work with sugar icing as well? Cream plus sugar plus vanilla?
Hi Lisa! I haven't tried this personally so I can't say what the results would be, but I would imagine as long as you thaw/defrost it in the fridge completely, it should be fine!
Hi! Can I freeze a cake that’s frosted and has a gold drip?
Hi Amany! How did you make your gold drip? The only concern I would have is if you cover the cake in saran wrap, the gold might transfer onto the saran wrap. You can try freezing it inside a cake box instead to still keep it fresh but avoid ruining the gold drip. You can put it in the cake box, then put foil around it as well.
do you leave the plastic wrap on during the defrost period ?
Hey Angela! I usually leave it on if my cake is frosted smooth - if your cake has sprinkles/decor on it, you can remove the plastic.
My cakes condense when I take it out of the freezer, so should I first refrigerate it before I take it out for any decorations?
Hi Aashiqa! Yes, anytime you freeze a cake, let it slowly come to room temperature by first placing it in the refrigerator. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@JustBakecause Thank you so much:)
I also wanted to clarify about applying buttercream as a crumb coat and some set it in the freezer for a couple of minutes before they apply the last coating but even this creates condensation while applying the last coating..are there any solutions to prevent condensation and also to have perfect buttercream finish to the cakes?
@@aashiqaameen679 Hi! Is it pretty humid where you live? This can cause the quick condensation after you take it out of the freezer. I would try placing it in the fridge instead, so that the temperature difference isn't as big when you take it from the fridge to your counter. I also have a cake course if you're interested in learning how to frost a smooth cake! You can find more info here: bit.ly/cakecourse

Is it okay to freeze carrot cake with creamcheese frosting overnight?
Yes, just make sure to wrap it well and thaw it fully in the fridge first before serving.
My birthday is 2 days later and my cake is already here some how so how do I keep it fresh till Tuesday?? And can I wrap a fully decorated cake? Please help!!
Hey Priya! Sorry just got to see this comment. A cake should last 2 days in the fridge as long as it is in an airtight container/box.
Hi can I store my cake 5 days b4 d event..
Hi! I would store in the freezer and then let it thaw in the fridge the night or two nights before depending on how large the cake is
How would i keep my cake tasting like refrigerator or have get freezer burn
Hi there! As long as your wrap it well, it shouldn't get freezer burn. Just make sure that you let it completely thaw in the fridge before moving it to room temperature.
How can you freeze half eaten decorated birthday cake
Hi! I would wrap it in saran wrap twice, then put foil over it.
Do i have to do this process if i need the cake the next day?
Hi there! No, you don't need to do this if you'll be using the cake the next day. You can just keep it in the fridge.
Can you freeze a cake with fresh fruit filling?
Hi Fatima! You can, just make sure that you've made a secure dam around the filling so that it doesn't seep through, and make sure to fully let it thaw in the fridge before serving because fruit does take a while to thaw from the freezer.
Wont the buttercream sweat when it thaws?
Hi Valerie! The buttercream will go through condensation if you're taking it directly from the freezer to the countertop - which is why I definitely recommend letting it thaw in the fridge first! You can refer to 02:18 to see where I explain this. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@JustBakecause thank you so much for replying
I've read that it's recommended to freeze it "naked" for a couple hours so that when you wrap in cling wrap it won't wreck the decorations.
it definitely depends on what decor you have on your cake - for instance, if you have edible gold leaf it might transfer to the saran wrap but if it's fully frosted in just buttercream, the flash freezing process should be okay!
Is it cool cake or normal
Hi Ruchitha! I'm sorry, can you clarify your question?
Can you freeze a cake with fondant on it?
HI Arianna! Yes, you can! I would wrap it in multiple layers of saran wrap and you can even put foil around it as well. Let it fully defrost and thaw in the fridge - do NOT take it from freezer straight to the counter otherwise condensation will happen and the fondant will sweat. After you take it out of the fridge and let the cake come to room temp, leave the saran wrap on there (you can remove foil though).
Just Bakecause when you take the cake out of the freezer and put in refrigerator do I keep it wrapped?and keep it wrapped until it’s defrosted. Last question how do I know it’s defrosted.
@@ariannamedina3891 Hi Arianna! Yes, you will keep it wrapped in the fridge. It depends on how big your cake is, but to be safe, I would allow at least one full day to thaw in the refrigerator.

Ma'am, is it okay to freeze a cake with buttercream cream frosting?
Hi Lunox! Yes, that is perfectly fine.
Hello! I have a question... is it okay if I freeze my whipped cream cake?
Hi! Whipped cream tends to separate if frozen, so I wouldn't recommend it, but you can try it out! I'm not sure how the texture will be once thawed.
Helloo... Is it's necessary to foil up cake before putting in freezer .. can't we put cake directly on freezer in its own 🎁 box
Hi! You can - it just depends on how long you are putting the cake in the freezer. The foil is just to help avoid any freezer burn but you can definitely saran wrap and then put it in the cake box!
