Hi, all! Very detailed video Jarrod, keep it up! I just had one question to you or your viewers: What would be the best way to find out whether a laptop in my country comes with x8 or x16 memory? Because of terms overloading (including people writing 2x8gb in specs), it is such a big pain to check that out. Is there a more "official" naming for these types of memories? Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you!

Jarrod, have you seen the new G15 Special Edition? Listing the screens as "
15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) 360Hz WVA Anti- Glare LED Backlit Narrow Border Display"
      Surely a typo?
They're selling the 165hz version for 200 cheaper (albeit with less SSD).

I bought my G15 back in May and I absolutely love it. I got a killer deal, with the upgraded 165 Hz screen and the 3060 I paid 1129+ tax. I have since upgraded the memory to 32 GB and added a 1 TB NVME storage drive to the second slot. In most games that I play it maxes out the screens refresh rate, right now I’m playing Resident Evil Village and on high (auto) settings it’s averaging 150 to 165 FPS. I’m having a much better gaming experience with this G15 than I had with my previous Asus Zephyrus. I would strongly recommend this laptop.

I just returned one of these today - the 120hz screen was so blurry in MSFS 2020 that it was unusable. I guess it was the very slow response that was the problem as previously a 144hz screen on an ASUS was fine & the difference between 120hz & 144hz isn't so great - but the performance was. Since late 2017, Dell have put the same power management system across their devices, which was taken from the XPS line. The laptops will boost as high is it could, before throttling down due to thermal; and unlike other manufacturers, whose laptop eventually stabilised, Dell's laptops would repeat the up-down cycle forever. This make it felt like s*** to game on, as I can see/feel the periodic drop in my FPS. The only way to fix this is to use Throttlestop to undervolt and manually toggle that performance of the laptop down.
Anyway, after see this for 3 different models now, I won't by a Dell gaming laptop anymore.

@@profiyntroz5186 My Legion 7 Pro with 12GB 6850M XT says otherwise. Beats RTX 3080 Ti laptops and is more efficient in terms of power draw. I know it beats it, because I had the best 3080 Ti laptop you can buy (The ASUS G17 Special Edition) which was an amazing laptop, but for £3500 when I bought it, you'd expect a laptop that isn't plastic. Whereas the Legion 7 Pro (6900hx, 165hz 1600p 500 nits screen, RX 6850M XT 12gb) I got for literally £1000 brand new. The Legion 7 Pro has a 165hz 1600p 500 nits HDR screen, whereas the G17 SE had a 240hz 1440p screen, which was decent but way lower colour accuracy than the Lenovo, no HDR, and only 300 nits.
I also had the G15 Advantage Edition with the 6800M. Performed amazingly trading blows with RTX 3080 laptops for much cheaper. AMD used to be bad and have issues such as driver issues, but those days are gone. RDNA 2/3 and Ryzen are AMAZINGLY good architectures. Which is why they power both consoles this gen, and we have AMD Ryzen/RDNA to thank for devices such as the steam deck, and ASUS Rog Ally. Which are both amazing devices, but I did end up selling my steam deck and keeping my Dog Ally.
This fanboyism is really stupid, both brands (Nvidia and AMD) have amazing products, and both brands have some pretty bad products.

Could you make a video comparing the whole "package" - laptop, AC adaptor with cables, between popular laptops like Lenovo Legion, Zephyrus G14, Dell, Asus Strix/Scar, and so on, possibly more near something that could give us a sense of dimensions? Many laptops aren't in physical stores, and while numbers say a lot, we can't really "feel" the weight and dimensions to really make a good decision. For example Legion 5Pro with 3050Ti comes with 230W adaptor, the one with 3060 and up with 300W adaptor but couldn't find the dimensions/weight somewhere, but these compared with one like Zephyrus G14 seem very big and heavy. These are in your reviews but individually mentioned which makes it hard to put them in perspective. Thanks Jarrod!!

hey jarrod! first of all thank you so much for your comprehensive and very informative review of the dell g15. I have been using my g15 ryzen edition for 2 months now. I'm just wondering if you already have upgraded to the latest bios (1.4) when the units were reviewed. When I did few weeks ago, the thermals seem to have improved with cpu temps maxing out now at 93C, the tgp wattage was increased to 130 watt and had higher frame rates even when mux switch was enabled. Looking forward to hear from you soon!

I can hit 102C even on the balanced power plan set to Best performance though with the right kind of work load/games but most games will settle at 93C.

This laptop has been specifically designed to be very well ventilated to avoid overheating problems on earlier models. It deliberately sacrifices a super thin profile to accomplish this by making room for airflow. It has a large intake grille, two large exhaust nostrils in the back, copper air piping inside and two very large and efficient adjustable speed fans. If it's running hot, it's because it's getting the most out of the hardware, the same hardware competitors use with lesser cooling systems. You are aware it has a manual fanspeed switch that can set the fans at full during hard gaming sessions?

I have the 165hz panel with the rtx3060 and I really like this laptop. Regarding the temps, I disabled the performance boost from power options and the temps don't go beyond 85c. I did realize if the laptop is placed on a surface that completely blocks the vents underneath then the laptop often tends to run warmer than usual. The funny thing is my mom has this japanese chabudai tea set with a very short-legged table that seats my laptop perfectly on it, best part is it has openings underneath so the temps are actually are pretty good. I did have a bunch of BSODs till last month (was a pain in the ass trying to fix it and still don't know what I did to rectify the problems) but now that seemingly everything's working well I abolutely love this machine. The RGB keyboard is also pretty nice although I have noticed that the lighting stops functioning if the laptop is turned on from sleep mode.
