- This is a custom stereo installation in my 2023 Ford Transit that came with the 4 inch base model stereo. Installing this system retains the factory backup camera and dynamic guidelines, as well as OEM steering wheel controls and Ford Pass. It also adds a front AR camera. It allows much more flexibility and greater sound quality than any OEM Ford system and allows owners of base model vehicles to outfit there vehicle with a super capable, factory looking premium stereo for under $600. I wonder if this will work on the transit connect. I can’t find any videos on anyone swapping out the 6.5” screen for anything bigger.
This is an excellent video, Jack. Your thorough explanation makes a complicated installation seem very doable. We are picking up our 2023 148"wb, AWD Transit base model in two days. After seeing your video I'll be ordering the Joying system soon. Just a couple of quick questions; Do you have a link for the cylindrical HD backup camera you showed but did not use (and I assume it would wire to the brown wire on the modified harness), and, do you have a link for the external microphone you mentioned you added in the followup Raise module video? Just a general comment from an old geezer... My first job as a teenager (in 1968) was repairing car radios -- to disconnect them, I'd unplug the speaker wire (one speaker, one wire -- the other terminal on the speaker was connected to chassis ground), the power+ (negative was chassis ground), and the antenna cable. Three connections. I wasn't counting, but you had more than 3, right? ;-)

hi mate great video.. would this work on the transit custom 2018 8" touch sceen system. everyone saying the sync 3 cant be changed ??
Sync 3 can be changed but it requires a different adapter harnesses. You will have to use a idatalink rf03 as well as a ADS-MRR2 module. It's more complicated and you will need to use an idatalink compatible stereo such as a Pioneer, a Kenwood or Sony etc to get the most features out of it.
Hi jack So I have a 2023 t250 Low roof. I noticed the ebay link for the screen is sold out, is the amazon one the next best option ? The backup camera you have is a medium or a high roof or is that the camera you linked? I am also thinking maybe Ill use the front camera as a sensor when parking to see how close I am. thank you for such an informative video !! I definetly need to do this !!

The backup camera that I linked is optional.You can just use the factory backup camera. I have a high roof van. I believe the low roof uses a camera on the back door vs the high mount camera like my van.

I am doing this upgrade after got frustrated with another radio. I have a question (or a few);
what happened to the blue Fakra connector @17:37? then @35:09 you said: "its no the blue cable!" then, proceed remove the adapter from this blue cable and put it to the black.
The black you linked and connected with a Metro adapter to the behind the new radio. But, not the blue.
I have watched it over and over and couldn't see what happened.
Does it stays idle like the OEM connector that linked the old OEM display?

The blue connector is not used with the new stereo. The purple connector with black wire is the AM/FM antenna. It is what gets plugged in to the antenna adapter and then plugged into the new radio. Just dont use the blue cable. I can't remember if it's the satellite antenna or display cable but it isn't used.

Hey again. I'm working through the video and @8:48 which is at the antenna connector part -- after you cut everything out from the 16-pin harness, the orange/black stripe is loose and doesnt go into the blue joying ANT CONT wire, right? That Auto Ant wire is just free and doesn't connect to anything. please advise. Thank you!
Correct. Ford doesn't have a powered antenna

Did you change the canbus settings on the stereo to match your canbus adapter?
