    I just installed the 10.1" Joying head unit yesterday in a 2014 Honda CRV EXL with amp/subwoofer, no NAV. I wanted to let everyone know it does work. I let Joying know when I ordered that I had the amp/subwoofer and the harness came with 4 RCA connectors that go to FR, FL, RR, RL connectors on the back of the head unit. I followed everything else in this video install exactly and it turned out great and sounds awesome. I want to thank you for taking the time to create the install video as it will help many do this install. Thanks again.

      Subwoofer makes all the difference. Be sure to get RCA y splitters single male to double female for each head unit connection as the Joying unit only has one plug per speaker including for the subwoofer.

    Just to confirm that by following this I got the lower controls to be mappable on my 2014 UK CR-V SR, it previously had the nav unit in. The lower module is a different version, it has a different model number and more wires and is a pain to do, but the wire to cut is still the yellow one as per the position in this video. Thanks so much for this tutorial it really is epic.

    Hey! I love your videos and they've helped me with so much but I have one niche question: when your ran the sub splitter to the 2 RCA inputs (in the original non-advanced version of this video), does the sub instantly receive that? Or are there settings I have to tinker with? I have a sub amp combo that I installed and the my sub is for sure operational (worked in different car and has power in mine) but I'm not getting sound out of it. Any thoughts?

    Fantastic videos! I was able to use the series you have to install this new upgraded 9 inch version from Joying that I purchased a few weeks ago. Everything is working as it should but have run into one frustrating snag at the finish line - I cannot get it to snap back in. I can get it within a half inch all around but I am using so much force to unsuccessfully try and get it the rest of the way that I'm worried I'm going to break the screen. It seems like the blockage is coming from the bottom front. Any tips or tricks for working it in, or should this be the easy part and its indicative of a larger problem somewhere?

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone

      Pull the snap in tabs off of the bottom section. Just the clip part, not the whole tab. It should fit right in.

    Also chiming in: I installed the 9" head unit for a 2015 CRV EX recently. I did not need to splice any wires to get both the passenger mirror camera and backup camera working: just worked with the included harness.
    I replaced the stock GPS unit with the included one, and stuck it to the same metal plate, beneath the upper display.
    I got 1 out of 2 of the USB ports working in the center console with a toyota USB retention adapter. There were two connectors for USB cables in the stock harness (as far as I know), one green and one grey. The adapter was correct for the gray one, but I haven't found one for the green cable (and I probably won't be pulling the stereo out again to try)

    Wonderful video series on the Joying unit / 4th Gen CRV. Question: for the little Phone-steering-wheel controls, you attached the yellow wire, got that, but then I see a little later a black wire next to the yellow, with an audio plug on it--it appears at 18:34 when you're reconnecting that harness. What is the black wire?

      I didn't talk about it because it was a failed experiment. I attempted to use the OEM Honda microphone built in to the headliner. I spliced into the wiring with a mic plug and plugged it into the Joying unit. The audio was very low. Basically completely unusable. The stock Bluetooth unit much have a much larger gain on the mic. Great video here! So I have something weird going on with the backup camera. This is for a 2015 Honda CRV without navigation. I bought one of those portable carplay units…a Carpuride w701 Pro which has a 2.5mm input for a backup camera that comes with it. They give you a video cable that has a 2.5mm pin on one end, and then your regular yellow RCA pin on the other. I attached this cable to another RCA cable which has the two wires exposed on the one end which I tapped into pins 18 and 19 on the iMid harness. This whole line is plugged into the Carpuride at the 2.5mm input and when I first put the car in reverse, the camera indeed comes on on the Carpuride display in addition to the iMid display. However, when I put the car back in drive or park or neutral, the camera will not go away from the Carpuride display. It does like normal on the iMid display, but not the Carpuride device. It will stay like this too when I start driving around. The only way to get the camera off the Carpuride display is to unplug the cable from the 2.5mm input on the Carpuride device, or to turn the car off and then back on. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Seems like it might have something to do with the reverse light. Would I maybe have to tap into that wire (pin 14) on the iMid harness as well?

    • @Accustiver
      @Accustiver Před 5 měsíci

      @@JackofAllMasterofNoneYeah it’s weird. So I know the camera that comes with the unit is supposed to be tapped into the reverse light for its power. The camera will power on when the reverse light comes on, and that feed then goes through the video cable. And then the camera loses power and shuts back off when the reverse light goes off. I figured with the Honda factory camera, it would work similar in that the camera is only being powered when the car is in reverse, and then it’s off when not in reverse. But for whatever reason, something is still keeping that video feed going into the Carpuride display even when the car is not in reverse.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone

It is recommended that you install a step-down transformer, lower than 9V, or 10V output to see if it can solve the problem.

      Your email was in the spam folder. The only thing I can think of is you need to have your contacts from your phone uploaded to the Joying head unit. You need to allow this when you first pair the unit. This should make it show the name of the person as long as they are in your contacts. If they aren't, it will just show the number. If you have any problems beyond this you should reach out to the manufacturer for assistance.

    I have android 10 on mine. Do you know if there is a firmware update.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The Android 10 units have had multiple firmware updates, but you can't update them to Android 12. The new Android 12 units look the same, but have all new hardware inside. The Android 10 ones are still excellent units and what I use in my daily driver.

      Probably but not sure. I only use Joying brand Android stereos. You get what you pay for.

    n their previous installation video. Connect cables A3 and A19 of the rear view camera, and in this video, connect cables A18 and A19. why here its difrents?

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 5 měsíci

      Just depends on the ground source. Likely either one would work. Also, it depends on the year of your car. Honda made minor changes over the years. The first video was a 2013 and the second a 2016. You should consult a wiring diagram for the exact year of your car.

      Some of the steering wheel controls are plug and play. It's the backup camera that takes work.
