- Skating in Philadelphia is hard. Rugged terrain, uneven sidewalks, and every weather condition imaginable is hurled at skaters whose goal is to thrash the City of Brotherly Love. “The streets are rough. The spots are rough. There’s a lot you’ve got to battle,” says Kerry Getz, owner of iconic Philly skate shop, Nocturnal. But adversity breeds creativity and that’s the message “Greetings From Philadelphia” communicates loud and clear.
The “Greetings From” series takes a deep dive into the skateboarding culture of some of the world’s most iconic cities. Not just the terrain-the gaps and the rails-but also the soul of the people that drive the scene, and the history that has shaped the lifestyle today. With episodes shot in Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Marseille and more, Greetings From Philadelphia’s is a 16-minute visual tour of one of the United States’ most historic cities.

I’m from Philly and started rollerblading last Oct 2023. Streets are definitely rough. There are a lot of F’d up areas and it’s a challenge for a beginner rollerblading like myself.

I don't skate but I love my city and its vibe. Drove by Muni at 2am Saturday night and saw a lot of people there just chillin. And I remember Tom Asta and John Tuck from high school lol cool to see them in this video

Nocturnal's Dope Local Shop in Philly.
I remember when I 1st started Skating back in the early 90s and the Spot used to be SUBZERO right there at 5th and South too. Yeah back in the 90s you couldn't skate there or LOVE and CITY HALL. Your always able to find Dope Street Spots in Philly. Kids these days have Skateparks all over the place and don't know how it was back in the 90s when you had to find your own spots and some of these spots I enjoy more then skating a park. #DieHardPhillySkatersSkateOrDie
