      Hi, curious.. since it appears this video was made 5 years ago, do you have any new info regarding the 89 with the 88 reverse? I have one that I am dealing with.

  • @neikoboi1
    @neikoboi1 Před rokem +6

    I found one about a month ago. I was sooo... Stoked!! To elaborate a little more on this coin, the D mint mark 88 transitional is highly sought after because they are more scarce. I was told by trusted sources that it is believed that only about 2,500 Philadelphia 88 transitionas are believed to exist and about 500 Denver 88 transitionals and the D mint mark is the one that I was fortunate enough to find. I know people who have found 3 or 4 Philadelphia 88's but not the Denver one. The Denver one is a hard one to find. It's a tough one! But keep searching, good luck and happy coin roll hunting to everyone!!

      @@CoinsforAmateurs1 The top of the G is wrong on the 89 rev of 88. The top of the 1989 reverse stops short of the edge of the vertical bar, the 1988 reverse goes to the outside edge of that vertical bar. the 1988 with a 89 reverse is a polished reverse die. I have proven this to Dr. Wiles of Variety Vista 2 years ago at the Summer ANA classes. Sorry. that variety does not exist.

If you found such a coin would you consider showing it to the Wexler's site for possible verification ? Or , am I mistaken and the 1989 D were minted in BOTH types of FG ? Anyone ? I have an 1988 but looks like no mint mark and as though this was struck on another size coin or it was misaligned during the minting process. If you look at the obverse and look through a magnifier, you can see the outline of another coin-possibly this was originally meant to be a dime. I put a dime on top from the outline to rim and low and behold it fits perfectly. It's a pretty dirty penny, with damage to left edge of the obverse. A deep chip which exposes a charcoal looking metal underneath. The edge on this side is also thicker than on the obverse right What should I do with this penny?

    I have been watching your video. I was going through the pennies I have been holding the back and one of the videos I've been watching on CZcams said for me to check my 1988's. so I took all my pennies and separated them by date and where they were made. The video said to look at the wide AM on the 1988 pennies. they're supposed to be wide so look at the initials of the designer as the video said. The video started talking about the 1989 pennies also. It said to look at the initials of the maker of the design of the back so I did. I noticed that some of my 1989 D pennies were one way and I had one 1989 D penny with the same initials but the G had no Seraph like the 1988 pennies. So I've been on CZcams for, I don't know how long now trying to find out if this is possible. I have looked and looked and looked at this this penny thinking there's something wrong with my eyesight. LOL! It definitely has the same initials made the same way as a 1988 without the seraphs. I would like to know how to have it checked and graded and it cuz it's in a good position it's not a bad looking penny. If you can send me any information on how to get this done then I can tell you what I have. Thank you
