Literally every Conjuring movie ever.
The Japanese one is very authentic. I remembered watching it when i was small and i was very relieved after it was over. But the movie is constructed in such a way that you think that the ghost from the movie is in your own house and you live in a constant fear that one day, it might jump out from one of the dark corners in your room. It other words, the japanese one does not let you forget it. It gives you paranoia and constant fear. Some may hate it but its what horror movies should be made like instead of just jumpscares.

After I saw the title, I knew my nightmares were back! The first one came out when I was a kid and it was the only movie that can scare the living daylights outta me even as an adult. Japanese horror films for some reason are much more scary than American films.

If you intentionally clicked to view the trailer, what's the point of making sure the audience doesn't leave within the first 10 seconds? They came here with the intention to watch this trailer. Asian horror is absolutely fucking terrifying. It just is. There are a few American horror films that can match asian's horror power, but they are pretty hard to come by.
I don't know, they're kind of hit or miss. I just watched two really terrible Japanese horror films, one was The Complex and the other was Nightmare Detective. Both had interesting concepts, but the execution was god-awful.

This movie left me with the sensation that it was the editing that ruined it. The art direction is very beautiful, the storyline isn't great but I wouldn't call it awful, and the cast is filled with incredibly talented actors. Maybe if it was edited in a slow-paced, more tension-filled style (without unnecessary close ups and bangs) with just one or two jumpscares, it would have been better.
Agreed. The movie isn't that bad. All the characters are well-realized with great acting. Also, some memorable gory scenes. However, the editing was way too slow-paced.
I just finished watching the 2004 release of this movie a few minutes ago and it was weird as hell and kinda awesome at the same time.

false. a man was engadged to a woman who was a care taker in the first american adaptation. he was killed just by being around the woman after she was "infected" by the curse from the elder woman she was looking after. its like a disease. the longer you are around it, the more likely that it will effect you.

I dont think the trailer properly reflects the movie, if I'm to assume anything just based on the director. Nicolas Pesce is great, The eyes of my Mother was intriguing, unique and creepy, so I dont think this will be too generic. The trailer just screams Raimi because it works for casual viewers and the studio wants to get people to the theaters.

American horror just isn’t scary or creepy, nothing about this trailer shows us the essence of why the original Japanese grudge was scary

The further my point, ju-on was a very ‘quiet’ movie that’s typical of asian horror, almost art house kind of quiet by western standards, which is why it was effective, because quiet instills dread and unease. Also, like a lot of asian narratives, it doesn’t rely on a ‘plot’, leaving events ambiguous and open to interpretation. That doesn’t fly in the west I guess, where horror movies need to be loud and ‘told’ or the audience doesn’t get it

I was having difficulties sleeping at nights most of the time, after stressing out at work during the day i thought maybe i could go home and just have a good night sleep but since I couldn’t sleep I thought maybe watching documentaries will bore me to a unaware closure of my eyes. So I watched but to my dismay, i was actually more interested in the documentary and end up not sleeping. Time went on but i had got just 2 hours left for my alarm to start ringing. And im wide awake still. I don’t want to end up sleeping now and end up not turning up for work in the morning. So i thought to myself I shouldn’t risk it, maybe a horror movie will keep me awake. I scroll through my Netflix, pondered across this movie. I imagined it would be as scary as the og one with better sounds and cgi and stuff. I eagerly clicked on it as i see the time on my phone. I have exactly an hour left to rise and shine. This movie will be my only saviour , it was promising and I imagined I would be scared shitless I wouldn’t sleep at all..
..later on i received missed calls from my colleagues, 6 hours ago. My boss demanded an explanation for my absence. Nevertheless that was a damn good sleep. Since then whenever I couldn’t sleep i will play this movie.
