    Thank you! Tried Liftoff and Uncrashed (as well as the DJI virtual app) and for the Avata, Uncrashed feels the best. Time will tell if my real life flying will prove it right. The only downslide is lack of a damage model. But I guess, this is why it's called "un" crashed :)

  • @JohnSmith_1331

    I have all of them, I fly velocidrone far and away the most because grinding race maps has been the best way for me to improve my flying. I improved more in a month of flying tracks than I did in 6 months of just freestyling around. After that it's liftoff, because I also like their tracks and the graphics are nice (which I barely notice anyway). Uncrashed is third, but something I pick up once every couple of weeks. Mostly because it's so freestyle focused, and I just go there to putz around.

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Před rokem +3

      I too really enjoy hitting up race maps as part of just general stick time. It is a great way to work on control outside of just doing fancy tricks!!! Uncrashed is super freestyle focused, although they do have "some" race stuff in there...not nearly at the same level as some of the other options though. Going to do a separate vid on taking a look at some of the sims that lean more toward the race side of things :)

    • @ferocious_r
      @ferocious_r Před rokem +2

      The grinding race maps thing I can totally relate to. Interestingly, though, I find that easier to do in Uncrashed than in Velocidrone. Will make the gravity adjustment suggested in the vid and see if that makes it more difficult in a realistic way...

    @MidnightMarrow Před rokem +5

    Saw some FPV videos a few years back and decided to buy some parts and build my first one. Build and everything went perfectly and somehow didn't crash it. Moved to a state that is pretty windy most days and is cold and snowy for a huge portion of the year so haven't done much with it since. I've played with Liftoff a little bit and DCL when it released but neither of those felt anywhere close to real to me. Definitely very floaty, they don't seem to carry momentum or drop near as quickly as in real life so while part of me wants to practice up on a sim during the poor weather before hopping back into it and risking my actual drone, I don't feel like it would be helpful in the sense the floaty nature of the sim would negatively impact my real flights. Not to mention my drone feels much more powerful and responsive even than the sims which is also kind of stupid considering I built it for 6S but under power it with 4S trying to save money, figured the up front cost was a bit lower on top of the potential to crash and need new batteries lol.

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Před rokem +1

      Sim do tend to be floaty!! They usually take a little bit of tweaking to get the power to weight ratio correct and to negate some of that floaty feeling. I know I have for sure spent a ton of time in sims getting the quads to feel the way I want them to, and some are by far easier than others to get it done in. Nothing beats real stick time though!

    • @ARagedTaco
      @ARagedTaco Před rokem

      Hey man, total beginner here but I was wondering if you had tried the different drone model settings to mimic your drones characteristics.
      I'm looking into trying these sims but without a real drone to match it against I have no idea if they fly realistically/could hurt my future flying ability.
      Thanks!

    • @MidnightMarrow
      @MidnightMarrow Před rokem +3

      @@ARagedTaco I've tried to customize and change things quite a bit but never get the feel quite right. That said specially if you're a beginner the sim does really well with how they control, having flown my drone a bit before hopping into a sim is what bothers me I think, if a full throttle punch it from the ground and let off, mine falls like a rock compared to the sim feeling like a feather. But getting the feel for how pitching forward and back to gain or scrub speed, turning etc the sim will do a perfectly good job getting you comfortable doing that IRL.

    In Liftoff:
    building on the bench
    changing props, motors, frames, for sure changes the flight characteristics. I don't understand how you would even think that it doesn't . It very much does change the way the quad handles, and feels.

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Před rokem

      I only have a few hundred hours in it, and I do notice that it changes the weight when you swap parts around. Especially on batteries and HD cams, those will change the weight for sure. As for the flight feel though, swapping props or motors around don't feel like they really do anything to me, but that could absolutely just be a me thing! Now if it had physics adjustment sliders to change things like drag, graviational ratios, lift coefficients, and axis balance, I would be totally down for that! I had heard at one point they were going to add those, but I never saw it in an update. Maybe it is still on the road map though!

    Good Job! I Love Uncrashed, (400 hrs ) but even on very high end gaming laptops, it will bog down and become unusable. Have you seen this? Particularly when I change the maps. Getting out of Uncrashed and back in sometimes fixes it, sometimes not. Shutting PC down and back in helps sometimes also. I notice this after flying for 20 mins or so. Is it heat? Are there setting I can do to eliminate it? BTW calling my dji fpv a potato was hurtful.

    You used 2004 motors for your 3" inch build. For that or for 3.5" inch builds in general what is your opinion on 2004 vs 1507 (rcinpower smoox m2 2680kv 6s in particular). Stator volume is almost the same and the taller motors should be more responsive?

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  Před rokem +1

      I think the 1507 are a great option! The reason I went the way I did with mine is purely personal preference. For the same stator volume, the 2004 is significantly shorter which has led to many fewer bent motor shafts during hard crashes. Since my build weighs more than the average 3" build, that was a big consideration for me when choosing. Nothing I hate worse than bending up a tmount shaft in a crash, lol.

    Interesting ai drone is my favorite one. I play on a 43in 144hz 4k monitor. And it doesn't look that bad in 4k. Mines not leggy or disconnected feeling. It does take alot of power to play it though. 3090ti, 5950x and 64gb cl16 ram here. So maybe could be why. But I do play it on my i7 3060 laptop too. It struggles more there. I've also spoke with the dev about issues and he was a super cool dude.
    If I had to rank I would do
    1. Ai drone
    2. Uncrashed
    3. Tryp
    4. Velocidrone
    5. Liftoff.
    Not a fan of drl, liftoff or the orqa one. I play them all some I like racing more some freestyle lol.

      oh man, a 3090ti is one heck of a card. It seems to run fine at 1080 on my 2070, but the disconnected feeling appears to be unrelated to anything my machine is doing to render frames. Not sure what it is, but AI drone sim just stood out for doing that when none of the other ones I have played in the past really did it as badly. Having said that though, I know there are a ton of people who agree with you though! That is really why I kept it on the list when really for me personally I don't enjoy it much :)

      DRL (Drone Racing League) Simulator has a step by step in depth tutorial and Joshua Bardwell has a playlist called How to Fly a FPV Quadcopter/ Racing Drone that has 25 videos that take you step by step through learning using an old sim called FPV Freerider using what was then the free/demo version. There may still be a free/demo version of it out there, but the full version costs $5.99 and is still available. The tutorial was from way back in 2015, but it is really good. Joshua has certainly become a lot more polished in his delivery since then, but has always made great content. That playlist is how I first found his channel. Honestly most of the sims are going to be focused around FPV in acro mode since LOS is so hard to emulate. The quad constantly moving far away from you makes it hard to see on a computer screen and it would be really easy to totally lose the thing in there and not know where to look. I brought lift off and my issue was the content ... i even brought the slip stream and night pack. Just a heads up ... dont bother with the night pack gosh i regret buying that ... slip stream is kinda nice though but feels like it should have been with the base game. but it just feels so lacking and a few maps i just cant play like the parking lot, France with a gigantic low hanging net that removes half the fun of flying in a city ? ... where is my ability to spin around the Eiffel tower ... such a disappointment.
    several of the maps are tree lines ... no open field with trees dotting around just packs of trees, and trees in liftoff are just death zones ... you cant fly past branches, their just a zone of damage that make trees incredibly un fun to be near.
    Then if you go to the open levels your left with overly WIDE open fields with a timer .. by the time you fly to the stuff you want to trick on you run out of time.
    this resulted in me playing only 3 maps, Golf, The broken tower *forgot the name* and the race track, and just power looping for score since it seems to give the most. which gets old fast.
